We went to the Radio Shack inside the Ace Hardware in Yorkville to inquire about a TV antenna. We wanted to discontinue our service with cable and wanted some assistance with what was needed to purchase so we can get basic TV signals with good frequency. We had spoken to Joe Orlando who is one of the managers there, and he made some detailed print out for us which informed us that we were 50 miles from Chicago so our TV was not going to get good signals without the help of a rooftop TV antenna. So he sold to my mother this monster size antenna that had to be placed on the roof with assistance (as I really couldn't see myself or my mother climbing up to do that). After purchasing the antenna, (which cost in the area of $100) we had set up an appointment for some local servicemen that Joe recommended to install it. When the day came for the servicemen to install they were puzzled out of there minds why Joe told us to buy this "monster" size, out of date, antenna. they said this was not what we needed and the one we were supposed to have was a small rectangular size box that actually goes up in the attic, not rooftop. Off we headed, back to Ace Hardware Yorkville to return our "monster" antenna. Low and behold when we walked in, who was there by the cashier station was Joe Orlando. He saw us walk in and was pretending to be busy behind the desk. Another girl came to our assistance and we explained how upset we were about our misguided purchase. She apologized and was able to refund our money. During this entire time never once did Joe Orlando turn around or look up to apologize for his mistake or our inconvenience. Perhaps he was disappointed his item had to go back into his inventory and that he could try passing it on to some other poor individual down the line. Lucky for him, the Christian lady that I am, I did not make a scene with abusive words. The best voice I can do is this review... so others, honest and good neighbors of mine, don't get taken for their money.
All in all we are quite disappointed, how many times don't we hear you can trust the folks at Ace anytime. If trust and honesty is no longer a priority at this Ace then we'll gladly give our loyalty to some place else. read more
