I've always had a great experience with this Ace Hardware location. When I am working on a home project and encounter an issue where I need to run to the hardware store to find the appropriate part, Ace Hardware is my first thought bc their staff is extremely helpful. There is always 3 or 4 employees walking the aisles. They don't point you to where an item is, they walk you to it and make sure it is what you need. They are knowledgeable in their recommendations. I had such a great experience thanks to Isaiah! From the moment I walked in, He greeted me with a warm smile and a positive attitude. He was incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, answering all my questions and making sure I found exactly what I needed. The day I went in my husband couldn't go with me so I was completely lost in what I needed so he was kind enough to go through all the different options I had. It's not every day you come across someone who genuinely cares about the customer experience, but it's clear that Isaiah takes pride in his work. This is a review of both Ace stores on East Lake and Main streets. First, I went to the East Lake store looking for K&S 7/32 in D x 1ft item # 5024013. The young guy went to the computer and told me that the East Lake store does not carry it, but the Main Street has two. So, I went over to the other store. The associate could not find it. He asked another person and pointed out the plumbing section in the far corner. Those tubes were way too big. Oh, maybe you should drive over to Freedom store. the East Lake guy probably got us mixed up. I would have laughed but I was so mad. Totally clueless. What a waste of time. I should have gone over to Home Cheapo. Back in the old days, Carlos and Manny knew their stuff. These young ones do not know what they are doing. Not so helpful Ace Hardware. read more

Been coming into the store for 20 years never had a problem. Try to return a $10 item. While also trying to purchase $30 worth of items, they put me through the ringer trying to find their $10 item in their computer after a lengthy search they could not find it would not give me a $10 store credit their item was in like new condition and I had just purchased a couple of extras because I wasn't sure what I was going to need Guy at the counter was no help decided to just go down the street to Home Depot where they wouldn't question me I felt like I was in an inquisition being interrogated hometown store is not so hometown when their customer service is terrible if I could give them a zero I would read more

Like all business, your perspective of their service is going to depend on your direct experiences with them and your mood during the experience. I have had very positive experiences here, so have to give them five stars. I have found the staff at this store to be very knowledgeable. Even though this store is small it isn't cluttered like other locations, I have been able to find random screws for tools for my projects, helped me figure out what I needed for a tricky repair. I had a very unpleasant experience at the Ace Hardware store in Gilroy yesterday. I called the store and asked if they carried Mother Earth Soil. the person that answered said yes. I asked the price and size of bags, He checked and said $12.99 for 1.5 cu. ft. bag. I drove to the store and asked to purchase 4 bags of the soil. When the person at the register rang it up he said the price was upwards of $112 and change. I told him the price was marked $12.99. I complained that the label was marked $12.99. The clerk, (I believe was Carlos the manager) said he would consider selling it to me at the $12.99 price. We went to see the price they were marked at. An employee had removed all of the prices in the meantime. the manager then said that he could only give me a 10% discount. If the prices were correct why did the employee remove all of the prices? I felt like this was wrong and that they should have honored the stores mistake in pricing. Most stores would have in my opinion. I left the store without the soil that I wanted to purchase. I traveled from San Juan Bautista to Gilroy to make the purchase all for nothing. I will never shop at this Ace store again. I have shopped at many of the stores in Watsonville owned by the same brothers, I may never shop there again. 5/18/23 read more

If you have a bladder, you do not want to shop at either of Mr. Rodriguez's Ace Hardware stores - Main St. Watsonville, or the one in Freedom. I am remodeling 3 homes in Watsonville, needed some items & Ace was close. I made the mistake of being a human being, asked for the restroom - where, get this, I'm told: "we don't have one, you'll have to go over to Starbucks or Big Lots" - seriously? So I ask for a manager - you can't tell me that your employees all hike across the parking lot to use the restroom - "no, we have a restroom, but for employees only" - oooookay - Home Depot here I come, you get the 5-6 grand I'll be spending on remodels this year. I will not cross the threshold at Ace Hardware again. Shame on you Mr. Rodriguez read more

I really love this ACE hardware compared to the others I've visited do to their selection. For the past 6 months I've been in there weekly buying speciality bolts & various unique items needed to help me rebuild my motorcycle. This store is a nice surprise. It's not exactly hidden but not that easy to find. When I can't find what I need at OSH or Home Depot, it can almost always be found at this Ace store. Now I go there first. The parking is in back in the same parking lot as the Watsonville CVS drug store. The staff never fails to ask me if I need help finding something. read more
