Normally I really hate the stereotype that women don't know what they're doing at the car dealership, lumber yards, Home Depot, what have you, but honestly....I really didn't know what I was doing. There, I said it. But don't use it against me later. I'd never been here before and didn't really know where to park...We were coming from the west on Hope Street and there wasn't any signage that I saw so I just drove in the first driveway...which was the back but no one seemed to care really. This was pretty much the trend for my entire visit, the employees assumed I knew what I was doing....which is nice I guess. Looking back I wish I had just point blank told them I was clueless. Ordering the lumber was super easy, I walked inside, gave the nice gentleman behind the counter the paper my dad gave me and he knew exactly what was needed. He ordered it up and handed me a pink sheet. um now what? I guess I should have been wearing a "I don't know what the hell I'm doing" sign. Anyway, I went outside and asked the guys who told me where to park- where I could find the lumber. They pointed in two directions (some was somewhere in that huge shed back there, some was in the other direction). After I gave a blank stare they helped me out. My van was loaded up in no time and I was on my way home. Until some other guy came running after my van saying they needed to stamp my receipt which had just been handed back to me...this other guy had been standing around with the guys who helped me load it...yeah ok. A warning would have been nice. Dude kid guy! My other observations were that they had a nice variety and I admired the displays both inside and out. They even have a room dedicated to paint swatches, that seemed pretty cool.

They could have at least sent me a new sash with the proper (clear) glass I had asked for in the first place. It's also just a bad quality window overall.

It was still covered under the Husqvarna warranty, and when I left it with them, I explicitly agreed to pay for diagnostics if the repair wasn't covered. About a month later, they called to tell me the carburetor needed replacement and that they had already ordered the part from Husqvarna. They never mentioned that the repair wasn't covered under warranty. I was told the repair would be done within a couple of weeks, so naturally, I assumed it was covered since they proceeded with ordering the part without informing me otherwise. Two months passed without any updates, so I called to check the status. They claimed there was a delay in getting parts, so I waited. Finally, after nearly 6 months, they called to say my blower was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was blindsided -- they told me the repair wasn't covered by the warranty, and I was expected to pay out of pocket. I spoke with the Sales and Repair Manager, Gene Conley, who insisted that I had authorized the repair, citing a note in their system. The only call I ever received, though, was to inform me the part had been ordered -- nothing about the warranty status or potential costs. To make matters worse, when I expressed my frustration, Gene's response was shockingly unprofessional. He told me he didn't care if I left a bad review because they have "thousands of customers." I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Communication and customer service matter, and unfortunately, Johnson's Hardware completely failed on both fronts. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere for your repairs.

I brought the new saw with me to a job site in Westerly RI on Saturday morning and began to assemble it, only to find that the water pump was missing from the box. The closest HF store was 25 miles away in New London. I called to see if they had the same model saw and, if so, asked if I could come to pick up the water pump that was missing from mine. After some back and forth on the phone the answer was "yes." While it was another hour long round trip in pouring rain (and about $20 in gas), I knew that the people in the store were not responsible for the missing part and spent most of the half-hour ride down trying not to be annoyed. It wasn't easy, but I was relatively successful...at least until I entered the store. When I found the person who I believed was the manager in the back and began to explain why I was there she literally brushed past me and said over her shoulder, "Go to the register up front and ask for help." There was only one register open and a half dozen people on line...so I once again walked to the back of the store to request help. This time the manager was no where to be found, but another woman was visible in the "employee only" section about twenty feet away...when she saw me coming she immediately tried to redirect me to the register. I explained that there was only one person up front and that he had a bunch of people waiting to check out...so he was not in a position to help me. Without acknowledging that I had spoken, she went back to doing whatever it was she was doing. I stood there watching her for about another minute when she spun around and snapped, "Be patient!" at me...clearly annoyed that I was not going away. After another minute she too brushed past me without a word on her way to the front of the store. I followed. When we got up front the person who I assumed is the manager was there with the new saw box. The two of them cut it open and began going through the contents looking for the pump. Neither could find it so I stepped in and pulled it out of the box myself. Neither said a word. Without ever acknowledging the fact that it was I who had what amounted to a two-hour hole punched in the middle of his work day, they began to put the saw parts back into the open box without even looking up. I took the pump and walked out of the store without saying another word because I didn't trust myself not to lose my temper. I did not walk into the HF New London store angry. But I sure left angry. Neither of the two women involved was doing anything timely when I arrived and asked for help...and both attempted to hand me off on the poor slob at the register up front...who was knee deep in customers. It was clear that they both knew why I was there and neither wanted to lift a finger to help me. And when I would not go away they both got angry and treated me like I was at fault. To say it was a bad experience is putting it very mildly.
