Went to ACE Hardware of Show Low (Store #06408) today for some electrical items. At checkout I inserted my credit card in device and tapped the green accept button, then removed card. No receipt printed, device said "insert card". Reinserted card, tapped accept again, receipt printed. Left store. At home realized I have been double charged per receipt for the items purchased. Both store receipt and Visa notification shows 2 identical charges. Called store, was curtly informed that double charge had never happened before (implying I was lying) and I had to wait until charge was no longer pending before I could come into store "with receipt" and would be refunded for double charge. Let me explain: * I am the customer. * Ace is the vendor. * This is not my mistake. I took a Ryobi chainsaw in to be repaired. I had the cover and brake in a bag. I also had a spare chain in a separate bag to be sharpened. 76 days later nothing had been done. Their claim was that there was a missing spring. I was told that no one had called because they did not have my phone number even though my name, business and phone number are in their database. They didn't even bother to sharpen the chain. The manager was very apologetic, but offered no resolution. The spring is readily available from Ryobi for $3.86 but they could not be bothered. We like Ace. We've been there a dozen times in the past couple weeks so we've really gotten to know the workers and inventory. I agree with Ace's TV ads. Ace is a smaller store than your larger Home Depot/Lowe's but they are easier to find what you want and have great workers to help you. They have cut metal and wood for us where we haven't had great luck at the larger stores. They make keys of all types, too. It may cost a bit higher than the other stores but they win for convenience. I'm sure we'll be back to Ace. I do recommend your stopping by to check it out. read more

I went there for a small container of joint compound for filling small holes in drywall. 3 different employees including a manager didn't know what I wanted, suggesting everything from wood putty to scrolling window sealer. I went in to buy a trough found out they don't honor the online prices. I bough it online and then waited 30 mins for it to go through. Manager was completely disrespectful. customer service told me it takes 24 hrs not the 15 min it told me to pick it up and in order to take it home with me so I don't have to drive and hour and a half back I had to claim a refund which takes 7 days. This is the worse Ace Hardware I have ever been to. We bought a Hummingbird feeder from the Ace in Pinetop, it was missing a part. We took it back to the Ace in Show Low and they would not accept it because we did not buy it at their store. We went again to the Show Low store and bought a space heater. It did not perform for the size of room we needed. Took it back to Show Low store where we bought it. They also refused to take it back. Oh the girl said we don't take back heaters. There was sign back where you bought it. Of course we did not see it and we were not told this when we bought it. Now we are out $55.00 They seemed to care less when I told them that they have lost a customer, as I will never go to a Ace Hardware ever again. Friendly Staff, Great Chainsaw Service And Huge Selection! Each time I visit this ace I am greeted by super friendly staff... I like when the people working for the businesses I visit are actually genuinely positive and friendly! All too often at many places this didn't the case. The store is clean and fairly well organized into sections with an outstanding selection of products! Whether you need some tools, plumbing supplies, chainsaws or anything wood stove or ranch related it seems this Ace Is The Place! Lol... I am super happy with the chainsaw department and their $7.00 chainsaw chain sharp ending service. Fast turn around and everyone is really friendly. Ace cannot be beat for nuts, bolts and off hardware needs with their great selection and super helpful staff. All in all this place is pretty great and super helpful. read more

We are from Hawaii and visiting a good friend in the White Mountains. We decided to do a few projects to his place in Rim Crest. Because it's a mobile home, many times standard sized items just don't fit. The staff at Ace Hardware, Show Low, were more than helpful in helping us to complete our projects, including fixing problems and breakdowns with their creative solutions. They went above and beyond. Shopping at ACE has been a good experience for me. I can find things there that I am looking for, often when I can't find them in the other stores that I also shop at. . However, over the last ten plus years I have had two successful small engine repairs, one not so good chainsaw engine repair and an ongoing bad experience with a lawnmower. . I love Ace Hardware but the service in this place STINKS! If you have a warranty return be prepared to argue about Ace's own customer satisfaction policy. Very friendly human beings serve as Show Low store staff. These staffers truly desire to help, but do not have any smiling ACE HARDWARE worker make keys for locks. 1. Reputable locksmiths calibrate their key making machines once a week ... ACE HARDWARE DOES NOT DO THIS. Ergo, staffers end up making a few faulty keys! 2. Keys from this hardware store look like they will work, however, once they are inserted into a lock they will jam the lock and bind up the mechanism. Say, "OHH NOOO"! 3. Drilling out a wrongly made key is a mess in daylight ... and even worse when it has done at night in the cold (ACE HARDWARE sells portable drills and drill bits). 4. if you wish to save time and expense and avoid frustration, go to a Show Low, Lakeside, Pinetop licensed locksmith to have keys correctly made. read more

This store employs some of the most stupid and rude people I have ever encountered. I called today, asked for the older man who is knowledgeable about their stovepipe and fittings. Idiot #1, "Mattie," answered the phone by saying hello and giving her name. She told me the person I wanted was the store manager, but he was on vacation for a week. I asked, when he'd be back, "a week from today, a week from yesterday, a week from Monday"? She said she can't tell me: I may be a deranged ex-lover who intends to harm him. I attempt to walk her through the complete illogic she's expressed, and the inconsistency of her own behavior (e.g., she's already given me, a strange caller, her own name without considering that I may be a deranged ex-lover of hers, right? She's already told me the manager would be back, sometime next week, and with this knowledge I could stalk the store for the whole week until he was finally there, right? And did she really have to tell me he was on vacation? I could possibly go and burglarize his house with that knowledge, right? But the most absurd part is that if the store really did apply her twisted logic, then a person could never call the store and be allowed to speak with any particular employee, because that would reveal the presence of that employee. Furthermore, she should have never given her name when she answered the phone for the exact same reason. But wait, it gets even better. She hangs up on me (great customer service). I call back and another employee greets me with a hello and tells me her name, "Heaven." I ask her if I could please speak with whomever is acting as manager currently, and then a guy (idiot # 2) who greets me with his name, "Kyle," picks up the phone. I proceed to tell "Kyle" about my conversation with "Mattie," and...he agrees with her logic. They can't tell me when I can call back in order to get help from their stovepipe expert so that I can order stovepipe and fittings for a stove installation. I'm supposed to just keep calling randomly until the person who I need to speak with is finally there and able to come to the phone (at which point, of course, I [the fictitious deranged ex-lover] will obviously know he's there, just as I already know that "Mattie," "Heaven," and "Kyle" were there at that very moment). I was stunned by the stupidity of the so-called acting manager. Of course, when I tried to point out the absurdity of his twisted logic, he hung up on me as well. More great customer service. How the hell do they expect to run a business like this? How can people be so incredibly stupid and inconsistent, and not able to understand their mistakes even when those mistakes are carefully pointed out to them? And how is a customer supposed to get any specialized assistance when these morons won't allow the customer to connect with the specialist? Finally, I can't say that I'm the least surprised that these imbeciles couldn't figure out a simple and rather obvious solution that would have enabled me to get help from the manager when he returned to from his vacation. All they had to do was to take down my name and number and pass this information along to the manager so that he could call me when he was back. But instead they've earned themselves a former customer who will NEVER do business with these idiots again in my life. I will tell everyone who will listen about my experience. I don't have a clue what "Eric's" problem is but he sounds like he is just plain negative about life (I checked his other reviews). Show Low's Ace Hardware has an excellent staff who are friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They are always happy to help and educate you on matters you have questions about. If they don't know the answer, they will get an employee that does. I have lived on the Mountain since 1995 and have never had any problems with this store. In fact, I find it enjoyable to shop there as I usually learn something new and I know their inventory is top of the line. read more

Ace used to be a place where you could find sundry items such as non-skid rubber bumpers with a screw hole that you could attach to an object for protecting a surface and to keep the item from skidding. Apparently, they made a "huge change" and went to a vendor that supplies maybe a third of the items carried before. Not the store it used to be, both in Show Low and Pinetop. read more
