I purchased two gallons of paint along with other painting supplies. I had done some shopping…read morebefore that, including some new baby clothes for my new grandson, and had them in the trunk of my car. My last stop was at the grocery store, and when I went to put my groceries away, one of the paint cans had tipped and opened because it was not securely sealed at the paint counter. The paint spilled all over my trunk, my new purchases, and other things stored in there; I filed a claim, but it was not approved because "it didn't happen while I was at Home Depot". So my trunk is ruined, as well as my purchases, and I guess it doesn't matter that it was not my fault, but the girl at the paint counter's fault. I'm done with Home Depot, and thank goodness there is a Loews nearby. I had receipts, sent photos, etc. Shame on them.

My father (who passed at age 94) would drive down to this store several times per week to "check…read morewhether Shoe City has..." whatever item he "needed that day:" whether large or small, he knew after centuries of shopping there that they carry unique goods not found in most hardware stores. Even though their prices are generally HIGHER than elsewhere, he knew what he needed, wanted, and was a LOYAL & LONGTIME customer. After he passed, I would walk to Shoe City whenever I needed something, or walk in and browse as I passed those opened doors. I soon found for myself that their Customer Service is "spotty" & the stock they carry has diminished over the years. ON MY LAST VISIT, I stopped in to ask whether it was possible to special order components for an obscure/vintage "Weiser" doorknob. The older gentleman, who I believe is the owner, came up to me, rudely & very dismissively insisting that in 30+ years in the business he had "NEVER heard of the brand!" BOTTOM LINE: Perhaps Shoe City Hardware was once a great local hardware store with staff that helped customers find hard-to-find pieces nowhere else available. But now their GENERAL MERCHANDISE items are pricey & limited to 1 or 2 brands. And sadly, those unique/ classic "gems" that once kept loyal customers coming back have become leftovers from "old inventory" & no longer replenished. They have not had the simple, common items/solutions I'd been shopping for during my past 5 visits. I fear they are biding time until they go out of business. I wish them well. - a Disenchanted "Father's Little Girl"

But, when we arrived at Feuer today, we were greeted by one of the friendliest, knowledgeable people of I've ever met who quickly showed us 10-20 options. The yard itself is very user friendly, even for the DIY novices like us, and we were able to explore options both in the show room and the warehouse itself. Once we'd made our selection we were pleasantly surprise once again by how affordable our 20 pieces of shiplap ended up being (MUCH more inexpensive than Home Depot or Lowe's and much better quality products). We will definitely be returning for all future DIY needs! Thanks so much!
