We were in the area and my husband needed to get a new drill bit of a specific size. So, we decided to stop here. There's easy parking in the lot right out front. The store is packed with inventory. The husband and wife make a very good team with friendly service. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We explained what we were looking for and she directed us to her husband (I'm assuming) who was able to show us where to find what we were seeking. He even made a couple recommendations and explained why the bits come two to a package (because they break). We didn't select the first item he'd suggested, but it was easy to find an alternative at a less expensive price -- as we didn't need the color/higher quality of the first choice. We paid at the front of the store. The price was quite reasonable and comparable to the bigger stores. And left happy that we came and found what he'd needed. read more

I have been a customer of Ace in Margate since 2003. They are as good as any hardware store I have ever dealt with, including Herrick's Hardware in Southampton, Long Island, NY. Ace Margate are great and have so many solutions to suggest, so much personal attention, and always PLEASANT. I have had to use them for two large plumbing disasters at my home, and they have the most competent people who they suggest for repairs, large and small. They are super trustworthy too. Everything is done safely and efficiently. They also stock a good amount of masks, cleaning supplies, paper goods -- although, of course, quantities are limited per customer. This place is hidden away in Margate Boulevard, in a shopping center that's has nothing remarkable. Their business hours are also a little inconvenient. They close pretty early both weekdays and weekends, making it not a very reliable place to buy. The store store itself is small and they don't carry anything the bigger hardware stores carry, just less of it. I will say that once hubby was looking for a part Home Depot or Lowes didn't carry, and they were able to order it for us, but if the Home Depot guy didn't tell us to check there, we would have never thought of it. With hurricane Dorian's impending landfall I called ACE to see if they had D batteries. They said yes & I drove 20 miles to get them. When I got there, they had an 8 battery limit. I also purchased a very small lantern. I have numerous lanters this size which cost $10-12. Their lantern was $25. The batteries were extremely expensive as well. I am grateful that I left with things that were totally sold out in Aventura & Hollywood. I deducted 2 stars for the pricing. I would never use this store for anything more than something small &/or last minute. Also,nthe cashiers were soooooo slow that I could have taken a nap on line. read more

This store is the worst. They are not very helpful, they were rude and God forbid if return an item because it doesn't fit. I had just bought a tub and shower faucet set because my shower wasn't functioning properly,I knew that there was a problem with something in the workings of the shower but not quite sure what I need it so I bought an entire kit I did not realize there were different types of stems for the faucets we had, but I was not sure it would be compatible with my shower stall. So I tried one by opening up the package but the parts were not compatible. I returned to the store I requested a refund because I could not use the item. I did however find what I needed at home Depot. But these people would not let May return the item because the package was opened but there was no other way for me to find out if it would fit if I didn't open the package and try to fit the parts. I can tell you this all other major companies allow you to return open items at a hardware store especially if you just purchased them 30 minutes prior. I couldn't use the parts they didn't fit I explained to the lady at the service desk or if that's what you call the cash register / service desk. So now I'm stuck with $48 faucet set that I have no use for. I will never ever shop at Ace hardware ever again and if anybody asked me where to go buy hardware part I'll tell them to go to home Depot or Lowe's or any other place but Ace the skies are horrible. My screen door hinge was broken and I had taken a picture of it and headed off to Home Depot to get a replacement. I was there a few minutes, and though the staff was friendly, Home Depot did not carry this type of hinge, and was somehow trying to convince me they needed to come to my house and do some measuring and install a new door for $87 plus the cost of a special ordered door. This didn't sound right to me, so I decided to just go home and let my boyfriend figure it out on his own, but as I was walking away a friendly Home Depot employee pulled me aside to say that I should try Ace Hardware. I'm very appreciative for his advice as it worked out very well. Entering the store I was immediately asked if there was anything they could direct me to. I pulled out my hinge picture and was promptly walked to the screen door aisle where they had the hinge I needed, and in multiple color options at that. I grabbed the color I needed (I got two just in case) and was out the door in 5 minutes for the grand total of $6. I knew it was crazy to install a new door just for a hinge. Since I only bought a hinge I can't really compare pricing at Ace to the larger chain hardware stores, but even if it is a few dollars more here and there, the customer service cannot be beat. They also have much better chance of having specific hardware items, as a learned with my screen door hinge. At the register I was able to sign up for a free points reward program. Ace will be my first stop for hardware from now on as the experience was just so much faster and easier than I've had at those *other* places. read more

Really wish there was an option for zero stars. I am big on customer service and it always determines if my money would be spent in their establishment. I am extremely upset with what occurred with my husband and my son in law this afternoon in this store. Apparently my son in law was in need of a lug wrench and was told to go to Ace to see if they may have it there. My husband said immediately upon entering the store there was a female who was rude and consistently followed them around in the store trying to rush them out. How disappointing is it to be treated less than trash while trying to repair the car that my pregnant daughter drives in on a daily basis. Our household will never, ever shop there again and I will be contacting the corporate office bright and early Monday morning. read more

Never visited this store but I called there earlier this week at about 6:20 p.m and a store employee with an accent answered the phone with the words "We're closed". When I asked if they actually close at 6:30 p.m. he finally admitted that this was so. I could hear a female associate laughing in the background. This is not the kind of curt and rude behavior that I have come to associate with employees of other Ace Hardware stores that I have had the pleasure of visiting in the past. This store has changed, apparently the ownership has changed. Several new faces, seems like the new faces are new to hardware too. On a busy Saturday there were only 2 sales guys in sight, both not sure of what they were doing. One was a kid, the other was quite out of his element. The one guy in the back, not sure of his name, seemed to be the only one with a clue. I've seen him in here for several years now. The other guys were continually asking him questions or sending customers to him. The cahsier Gloria, has been here forever too, much help from her, but she seemed frazzled that the customers were going unhelped. Curious if the store is going out of business. read more

I agree with another reviewer about my love of Mom and Pop businesses. I love shops that have almost everything in a 2000 square foot area. No need to walk a half of a mile to get a roll of duct tape. Parking is 10-20 feet from the front door most days. Friendly service. We should patronize these type of businesses who allow the ordinary man to franchise a piece of the action or else we will all end up working for big box stores for $9 an hour. There's something about a mom-and-pop hardware store that gets to my heart. Although the name is a franchise when you walk in you feel as though you're transported back in time with friendly customer service the store filled to the brim with nuts and bolts and keys and paint and shelving and coat hooks you name it you can find it at Ace Hardware. I came in because I have a retro 1972 Santa that sits outside on the yard and the fuse from way back then gave out years ago and I put the cord away in a drawer. The other day I pulled it out and I said oh my took the fuse out and went to a bigger Hardware store also a chain but they did not have the size fuse I need it. I thought to myself I should go to Ace in Margate located on Margate Boulevard just a little bit West of 441 on the Northside of the road. This door has got to be here well over fifty years. It is not outdated or Antiquated and any way shape or form it's very clean but still has the hardware smell that I always recognize in smaller hardware stores. After finding my fuse James who was on the phone helping me put it at the front desk so it would be there when I walked in. Thank you James for helping me find my 7 volt fuse. I also was in desperate need of a hose for my yard and found one for $20 all fifty feet of it. I also have a broken cabinet hinge in my kitchen and I saw those there too for $10 you got 2 of them I guess that's for the top of the bottom so I have a spare for one of my other cabinets because only the bottom is broken on my one kitchen cabinet. I definitely am going to use Ace Hardware from now on I felt more comfortable I got better customer service and a feeling of warmth from the employees. I also like the way they wish me a happy holiday no one bothers to say that anymore but at a smaller store like this Ace Hardware in Margate Florida you get that specialized treatment and they're never too busy to help you as opposed to some of the bigger chains. I've been in the bigger stores that when an employee sees you they walk the other way it's not this way at Ace Hardware everyone is friendly nice and more than knowledgeable with smiles on their faces. I'm glad I chose Ace Hardware in Margate which is only about 10 minutes away from my home if that and they had the fuse that I need it which really made me happy. Very disappointed. As a Wynmoor resident for more than 15 years this was our go to Hardware store. Always felt comfortable and welcomed. Had an issue with two pieces of glass that didn't fit the slats in the door. We bought four and two fit fine. The other two were not useable. The cashiers response was where is your receipt? I didn't have it but they have a record of transactions on Ace Rewards but she refused to look back further in the record. I didn't want money back just wanted to be able to use the items I had. Finally the guys on the floor heard me making a fuss and they agreed they would cut them for 1.00 each. Long story short they said it was cut to size already. End result I have two pieces of glass I cannot use. What happened to the friendly Ace Hardware I remember? I felt I was on the defensive from the minute I walked in the door. Will not return again. I went there to get a refund from Ace Hardware for something I ordered online and was delivered to my apartment. They were the wrong light bulbs. The Ace Hardware store in Margate Florida refused to give me a refund because they said they were an independent privately owned store and they were not required to give refunds for online purchases. Later I made a phone call to Ace Hardware headquarters and I found out the Margate store was lying to me. They are required to give me a refund but they did nothing even though I showed them the receipt. While I was there I decided to buy light bulbs from them. The salesman refused to go away when I said I didn't need him. He said it was store policy to watch every customer whether they wanted to be watched or not. I could not make a buying decision with this annoying person hovering near me so I bought nothing. As I was leaving the store the same salesman insulted me as I was walking out the door. I'm 68 years old and never once was I insulted by a salesman. I reported this behavior when I reported the dishonesty about refunds. They will not see me again but if you like to be annoyed, lied to, and insulted this is the store you want. read more

This place used to have good service. Now, the owner (?) or manager treats customer with disdain and suspicion when you have a return. I bought two light bulb for refrigerator. It should be same, but, one is different, not usable. Go to store to exchange the wrong one, the owner, I think he is Indian, give me such hard time. After all its their fault give me the wrong one. PAID FOR A GENERATOR SEPTEMBER 2017 ...The store said that the receipt was all I needed to pick the generator up. When I went to pick up the generator it was expected to be there later that day or the following day because the trucks were delayed due to upcoming hurricane. I went back three times and still not in. At this point I was frustrated because I needed a generator or evacuate the state so I was going to just give my order to another customer when a manager came out and said that if I picked it up after the hurricane it was mine and the only thing I needed was my receipt. At that point I decided to keep the order and pick it up when I got back from the evacuation. I left immediately to Charlotte NC 09/08/2017 resting assured I would be fine when I went in to pick it up. I know it's been a long time since then and I was prepared to pay a stocking fee but that was not the case. I presented the owner with my receipt and he basically told me to pound sand. At first he said I'd have to talk to the previous owner , which was a lie ownership has never changed, then in his next breath he said I was lying and already picked it up and that there is nothing he would do. Very rude man he is. He said oh it's been too long and now I am out of luck. I'm not asking for my money back. I still need a generator. I was scammed by this business owner. A look on Google reviews on this store and this isn't the first time he has done this type of thing. It's crazy because I was actually referred to this store by 2 of my colleagues. read more

This place has very poor service. It seems like every time I go in there there is an issue. First time I was there. they wouldn't except my ATM card because it wasn't reading the chip. So again I left without purchasing anything. The second time I went they told me there is no such part made. When I was trying to change my weber grill from natural gas to propane gas. Again I left without purchasing anything where I proceeded to find it online and buy it. He and now the third time I went. I had a ace hardware coupon five off of $25. Which they would not take because they said there are some items that I am purchasing that's not valid with the coupon. I have read it and it did not exclude any of the items I've had. It's such a shame because I really like Ace Hardware. But I'm starting to think I've about had it with them read more

I called today and asked for a product. When I asked how many came in the box I was so shocked with the response. I was yelled at and felt so disrespected. I called back and asked for the manager to inform of my very poor experience. To my surprise I was transferred to the same person and it was actually the owner/manager that I was speaking too. I asked what was the problem and stated that he shouldn't be talking to me that way. The response I am the only person in the store I had to walk all the way to the back of the store. Then he replied that he doesn't have them and don't come back. Covid 19 has restrictions on employees in stores but that's no excuse for being disrespectful for asking How many come in the box. I tried to support a small local business because I know things are tough now and was basically told to go to Lowes or Home Depot by the owner. I order Swifter filters on line and pick them up at Ace once a year. Simple, fast, and easy. My Mom and I went to Ace on Saturday to look at paint. One of the men got my Mom a chair. She is 89. I found the swatches I needed. I asked about the night lights. One of the men got me exactly what I needed. The people are so nice. Refreshing! Ace is definitely the place.
