I purchased 3 items on 2/11/2026. One item was a table fan that didn't meet my needs. Two days later I tried to return it. The manager refused. It had not been plugged in, was not a cut item, a tool or tinted paint. I became so enraged, I threw the fan on the ground and broke it to bits. If you want to walk into a customer-unfriendly dead zone, this Ace is the place. Talk to the store manager and learn why. She's sent the clear message to the staff that the customer is never right. Better hold onto that receipt if you ever want to get your $5 off. They don't honor you electronically, and if you challenge the manager about it you get all but told to eff off. She blames that bad policy on corporate! Avoid this Ace. It ain't the place. Better off at the Ace store in Sahuarita or True Value in Safeway shopping center. Bought a right angle attachment for my electric screwdriver. Didn't have use for it and tried to return it unopened and in its original packing just 24 hrs later. Owner said they don't take back tools period. This is the worst treatment I've ever received by any merchant ever. All he had to do is literally walk 20 feet away and put it back on the display hook. I'll never shop there again and slam them at every chance I get. Shameful customer service. Oh and they don't do military discounts. read more

My wife and I recently moved to Arizona and bought a Beautiful house in Green Valley. Well, with any house purchase, there comes repairs. I have some screens that needed to be rescreened and a couple of door hinges that needed to be replaced. I have always relied on Ace to be the place with the helpful hardware person, this time was no different. I put in the screens to the repair shop in the store and started looking for the hinges. Couldn't find the color to match, ending up at the Customer Service counter where a wonderful and helpful Lady by the name of Marie said that she would contact the warehouse and see if it would be in stock there. Marie said that she would call me if they would be there. Sure enough, Marie called me and told me that they weren't in the warehouse but that she would check with Corporate to see if they could order them from somewhere. ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty for Marie and Ace Hardware. Although Marie couldn't find the part, I was VERY IMPRESSED by her attitude toward customer service and Ace Hardware. I will tell family and friends about my good experience at this store and I will return for my repair needs. My girlfriend went in for some help to find something. She wanted to find a keyed door lock for a closet. It did not go well! The gentleman that she asked about helping her talked down to her, was loud to her, disrespected her and was a true misogynist ! And sadly this was the third occasion that she has dealt with the same gentleman and I use the term very loosely, because that's what he was not. I don't ordinarily post reviews on Yelp but I was so infuriated by what she told me and she does not exaggerate because I know this lady very well. And to top it off she told me the same thing happened when she was in there with her daughter two other times, this is very very disturbing!! I went today to get a paint ( only a quart size) to match a bathroom. Gave them the past paint bucket to use the paint code. So i thought this was a no brainer. Well.... nothing is ever that simple. First of all the paint was unbelievable expensive. $ 22.50 for only a little quart. Then I wanted to use a $5 off coupon for Ace stores. They wouldn't accept it. Apparently, it has to be specific to their location. So there is no coordinating with other ACE stores. Ridiculous. To top it off, came home and painted the room and IT DOESN'T EVEN MATCH. I received a Dremel Contour Sander ($70) for Christmas. I tried to exchange it for something else about 10 days after XMAS and was told "NO RETURNS WITHOUT RECEIPT". I asked the gifter if she had a receipt. She gave me BOTH the register receipt and the gift receipt. I returned and was told NO RETURNS ON TOOLS. This Dremel Sander was still in the box. I asked the owner for an exception and was told NO again. What is the purpose of a gift receipt if you will not accept a return. This is a small business that is failing miserably in customer service. I think you will be do better at the Tru-Value on Continental or the ACE on Duval Mine Road. Update. After getting the BBB to act as intermediary, I was able to exchange the tool for other merchandise. The owner was surprising friendly this time. Maybe he was just having an off day when I approached him the first time. I will say that the staff was available and able to answer questions. Just be sure of what you are buying. read more

On July 27th I purchased a garden hose from them for $23. The receipt states, "90 DAY RETURN POLICY". When I got the hose home, attached it to the bib, and ran water through it, it immediately kinked in 10 different places. (This was while it was still coiled in a round shape) I unhooked it, emptied the water out and placed in the trunk of my car. I TRIED to return it to the store 3 days later with all of the original packaging, and the receipt. I was told that ALL hoses kink in hot weather except those guaranteed "kink-free", so he would not take it back. He advised that he could only exchange it for a "kink-free" hose, and I would have to pay the difference. Since I didn't want to lose the whole $23, I said okay. BUT, he didn't have a 50 foot hose (what I needed) in the kink-free version, so he said there was nothing he could do. He has ripped me off for $23!!!! I was so upset to find that Walmart had a hose of better quality (though not kink free) for only $11.99. Less than half the price!!!! This store is a rip-off!!! How can you state you have a 90 day return policy if you don't take returns!!!! There is also a much newer, better run ACE Hardware in Sahuarita. The staff there is just as helpful, and they let me return something simply because I decided I didn't like it. You are much better off going there, or to Walmart. Don't let this store rob you! read more

Definitely will NEVER, EVER purchase another thing at this store! Purchased a soldering iron only to discover that it wasn't the correct one needed for the soldering job. Was told that it couldn't be returned as it is their policy that tools are not returnable. Interesting because the customer is not aware of this policy until they actually PURCHASE the item and THEN find out that you cannot return it!!! Absolutely ridiculous! Where is the sign on the shelf that says "item not returnable"??????? You need to revisit your policy. I have gone to Ace Hardware since 1997 or so. Always more than helpful. When I asked for screws (or something like that), the gentleman asked me what for? When I told him the reason, told me I shouldn't be climbing on a ladder and he recommended a very very nice gentleman who climbed on the ladder. Another time, they came, picked up and delivered window screens that are still as good as they were 10 years ago. I could go on and on. Never had an issue with them. This is a general review for all Ace hardware stores in the Tucson area. I made a purchase up in Tucson where I happened to stop with a friend. While there I saw something I thought I could use and purchased it. A day or two later I realized it was the wrong item. I attempted to return the unopened item with the receipt to a local Ace near me in Green Valley, was told they can't take it back since they don't sell that item. I tried the Ace in Sahuarita, was told the same thing. I then went up into Tucson and was told since I didn't purchase it at 'their' store they could only give me a store credit. Like I want to drive 40 minutes to a far away Ace next time I need something? They were unable to figure out which Ace the item was from for me since the store # was listed on the receipt, not the address. After some searching I finally figured out where the store was that I bought it from ( I don't know the area well). WOW, what a runaround!! Never again! From now on I'm only buying from my local True Value! read more

It was a great store when we first began shopping here nearly 14 years ago. Shortly thereafter the previous owner sold it and it got even better. It is a real hardware store, not filled with fluff and trinkets, but necessary hardware. They are well-stocked and provide good customer service. Almost never have I gone in there for something and left empty handed. If they don't have it, they will get it. I'm amazed at the reviews of people complaining because they didn't get a refund on something at this store because it was beyond the refund time period and/or they didn't produce a receipt. I was in this location a few days ago buying lumber! I was excited to make a coffee table that I had found plans for online. I have very little tools and experience with wood work. I bought the lengths of lumber that were recommended on the plans. I wasn't sure if the local Ace Hardware would have the correct lumber for the job. I found the first available associate I could track down. The associate told me to "pull around to the contractors door in the back if I wanted help"and he walked away. He was a rude older man that seemed upset that I was younger man needing help with anything in a hardware store. I ignored his insulting behavior and collected the lumber from my list. On the plan that I found online it said the the 4"x4" posts should be cut down at the hardware store because of the type of saw that you would need to achieve such a cut. I asked the older gentleman who acted like he was part of the Lewis and Clark party to settle the west. He acted like this was an outrageous request. He sent a younger associate over to help out and the associate took several measurements and made the cuts. He completely cut the 4"x4" lumber incorrectly. The legs of my table are the only thing wrong with an otherwise well executed wood working new guy table. The old lady who checked rung me up over charged me and called me a liar when I told her that the lumber had been cut down! Instead of one 4"x4" she charged me for 4 of them. She screamed at me and told me to "shut up" while she got ahold of the associate who helped me. He told her the same thing that I did and she still gave me a "shut up you liar" attitude. The manager or owner came over while this was going on and he said just get him out of here. He never even heard my side of the story or cared too! I have never been treated so bad! Mike Sr. has helped me with my window screens and electrical needs. Mike Jr. has assisted me with paint color decision making on multiple projects. Ed just helped me find the correct screws for a job I'm doing in my house. Kirby always has a friendly word and is there if I can't find something or need to problem solve. I returned a toaster 2 days after I purchased it since I decided a toaster oven would be more useful. I never opened the box. The cashier needed approval for the return before she could credit my account. The gentleman who was the approver opened the box and started to remove the toaster. I asked why was he opening a seal box since it wasn't open and the item could have been put back on the shelf. He explained to me that he had to make sure I didn't open it and use it. He told me you wouldn't want to buy something if someone opened or used it, would you. I told him he could clearly see that it wasn't open and all contents were firmly packed in the original packaging. After his inspection he asked when the purchase was made and informed him only 2 days ago. He relentingly gave his approval. I have never experienced such doubtfulness and rudeness. I always leave this store a happy shopper when I have a project for the family business. Employees are very helpful and know way more than I do so they are great to work with. My family complains about the sour lady at the front cashier register, but I try to understand why she sits on a chair reading a novel instead of working in the store. I have noticed she perks up when a handsome man enters her space so shes not blind . Go to the back door if you want a good experience and use the cash register in that area. I have traveled for 10 years in a motorhome using Ace Hardware's all over the country. I have had great experiences all along the way...except here. BEWARE if you want to return anything. You will know something is wrong when the cashiers tell you they can not process any return without a manager's approval and inspection. Then, if you purchase anything they consider a "tool", they won't take it back or issue you store credit on another purchase regardless if it is new and still in the box or not. I had to take a shop vacuum I purchased at the Green Valley Ace Hardware along with me to New Mexico where each of the three Ace Hardware's I called offered me either an exchange, store credit, an ACE gift card or a refund. This store is a discredit to the Ace brand and the poor folks in Green Valley who are unwary enough to shop there. For locals, the Ace Hardware up in nearby Sahuarita is a safer bet. read more
