Both tacos were very flavorful! I do wish I had asked for corn tortillas instead. The service was quick, and our food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. And the queso dip was **so yummy!** Definitely worth trying.

On business in Portland, OR and it's time to put my Yelp bookmarks that I've accumulated in this…read morearea to good use! Lol. So it's #TacoTuesday and I absolutely had to hit up Matt's BBQ Tacos since I freaking saw them on Netflix's Street Food! Let's see how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: So Matt's is located in a food truck park on 50th Street between SE Lincoln Street and SE Division Street. There is no private parking so you'll have to find a place on the street to put your fly ride. But I really liked this place! There are several food "pods" all neatly lined up in a row. Seating is both "inside" and outside, meaning it's all outside, but some of the space is covered. The bar for the whole venue (Hinterland) is up front when you first walk in. But it was just real chill and I liked it. Service: Since it's a food truck, you just talk to them. Lol. But the folks running the truck were friendly, personable and real chill. Food: First up I tried their chips and queso! The chips were extra thick, giving that good quality crunch. They were hearty, a bit wheat-y, grainy, but most importantly, strong! To hold all the toppings! The queso wasn't as viscous as I thought (or would want) it would be, but perhaps because it was very hot when it first came out. But the flavors were light and not as deep or rich as I had anticipated. Really good queso though! Our first taco was the Pork Belly Breakfast Taco which comes with refried beans, queso, scrambled eggs and a fresh flour tortilla. The tortillas were absolutely hand-made and had little air pockets in certain places that just gave it a more unique touch. The taco was indeed messy, but was FANTASTIC. I expected an abundance of salt, but nope, it was so well-balanced. It was easily one of my favorite tacos I had ever had! There were also 3 sauces you can get to go along with the tacos. One was recommended for each. The sweet BBQ was amazing. It had hints of raspberry, blackberry and other fruits. It was a little thinner of a sauce, but I LOVED it with this taco specifically. I wish I could've bought a bottle to take home! The Pulled Pork Taco comes with pulled pork, guacamole, pickled onion and pickled jalapeno. The pork was so powerful and let you know it was in the taco. Good porky, fatty saltiness from it. The pickled vegetables added a great texture-breaker amongst the tender pork. I then added a tomatillo sauce that was much thicker than the rest. Lots of strong cilantro with a little bit of lime flavoring came through along with solid salt and acidity. Last, but not least we have the Chopped Brisket Taco. This was the one that mostly featured on the show so I saved it for last. It's hot brisket tossed in "hot dip" then served with the same vegetables as the last one. So... I don't want to say I was let down, but the brisket was much thicker and denser than the pulled pork was. I preferred the other one better. But the taco was good, I just wasn't blown away like I was with the other 2. The sauce for this one was the chipotle sauce that was nice and thick. The sauce certainly added some moisture to the taco, but the sauce was a little too much for me. It was gritty, briny, dense, heavy and a bit Earthy. Value: In my personal opinion, the tacos are worth what I paid. Back when I came, the Pork Belly Breakfast taco was $6.50. Online it's now $1.00 more. The Pulled Pork was $6.00, but an added $0.50 each for the queso and jalapeno. The same taco has only gone up $0.25. The Chopped Brisket taco was $6.25 and now it's $7.25. In my opinion, it's still worth it. In conclusion, I'd revisit this place in a heartbeat! I loved it here! Now they have smoked chicken tacos and stuff! So I'd want to try out some new stuff! I hope you guys come and check it out while continuing to support local businesses!

Two of us chose this place - and we weren't disappointed! I ordered the BBQ Crunch Wrap with brisket, cole slaw, crispy onions and something else I can't remember right now. It was super tasty and was just the right amount to fill me up. The smoky bang bang dipping sauce was wonderful and I wish I'd asked for more (next time I will!) because it was the perfect compliment to the brisket. My friend ordered the same thing but with the pulled pork; she said it was very good, too. Church of Smoke BBQ is located in the Canby Beer Library, one of 7 food trucks. Ordering was easy and the cashier was friendly and helpful. Street parking is available along with inside and outside eating areas (the outside area is covered and has overhead heaters for those chilly days). I'm looking forward to the next time I can try something else from their menu... as long as it has that smoky bang bang sauce!

I was tempted by a lot of different menu options, but ended up with the Smoked Brisket Philly. It came on a nicely toasted sourdough baguette; and was loaded with smoky & tender chunks of brisket, provolone cheese *and* cheese sauce, and jalapenos (menu says "banana peppers). Despite being on the messy side, the bun held together really well, and it was quite delicious -- definitely take the fork that they offer you when you pick up your food, LOL. The sandwich went great with the stout beer I ordered from the beer library. This is the best cart that I've tried at the CBL, and I would definitely order from them again!

I got the white curry with burnt ends, and it was delicious. The curry is not thin but not as thick as I expected. It's on the sweet side, but I needed something sweet as a buffer since some of the dishes we ordered were a bit too salty. -Thai-Style Ceviche, 11/10. No friggin' notes. I highly recommend. Portion is a bit small, because I could have eaten MORE. -Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken was decent. We ordered the Small and it was about 5-6 boneless pieces. Very unique. I recommend to try if you like fried chicken. -Wok-Fried Yu Choy was wayyyy tooooo salty. Hubs & I wanted some greens and it was fried with generous amounts of garlic, but it just got saltier and saltier as we ate it. -White Curry w/ Brisket Burnt Ends, this dish was a little bit of a mixed bag. The white curry (roasted cauliflower + coconut cream) was delicious, but did it pair well with the Brisket Burnt Ends? Not really IMO. I don't think the flavors match. I'm not exactly sure what would pair well with the white curry, maybe some veg or tofu...but BBQ fusion with the curry wasn't the best. 2 unisex restrooms available, the one I used was clean. Service was a little scattered. We got the Yu-Choy first, followed by the ceviche a few minutes later. But the Fried Chicken and White Curry took a while to come (about another 10-15 mins. to come). We were lucky to find some street parking in the neighborhood nearby.
