I. LOVE. ACE. HARDWARE. They have over 1,000,000 screws/bolts in THIS LOCATION ALONE!!! Who needs to carry a MILLION fasteners!?! Apparently Ace Hardware does. And they do one heck of a job of doing so! Oh, and why not grab a free soda or coffee on your way back to said fasteners section!?! I stopped in here on my first day as a Bendite (and having been out of Oregon for 17 years) and I was beside myself with joy. I was instantly convinced that my return to my home state (wife and toddler in tow this time) was the right move. I even called my wife about the free soda. I couldn't believe it. I felt welcome there before a single person even knew I had walked in the door. There must be 1000 employees because (unlike some other stores at the north end of town) I seem to find one or two down every isle that immediately look at me with a smile and ask if they can help me with anything. And you know what, they always can! They know that store like a koala bear knows the back of its eyelids. Plus, with three locations it's always convenient (though I do like this location the best...did I mention the number of fasteners??). I'm in hear at least once a week, know of few employees by name and have a friendly banter with them. It feels like the hardware store equivalent of the Cheers bar. I love it. Break something? Go to Ace Need to build something? Go to Ace Want a free soda? Go to Ace...but buy something too! read more

Normally I would not waist my time with an Ace review but this encounter was just too amazing. I was at the check out with two bags of fertilizer but the clerk rang them up as one. I pointed out the error and she rang them up correctly. $37 versus the incorrect $18 amount. So being an honest individual I saved the store $18. Right after I paid the light went off, I had forgotten the $25% off one item. I mentioned to the Clerk that I could just run out to the car a get it. I was told I had to have used it at the time of purchase. But I was standing right there in the middle of things. And I had just saved the store $18 by pointing out her error. I mentioned canceling the transaction and ringing it up again but the clerk was not interested. So an honest man saved the store $18 but the store was to cheap to honor their coupon. $4.50 Now that is a really sad story. read more

Looking to speak with the owner or someone who isn't a store manager of the ace hardware on 3rd St. The store manager is extremely unprofessional and rude; I was appauled by his reaction when we were looking to return a dolly we bought from the Sisters Ace Hardware an hour earlier and realized it had a flat tire when we returned to Bend. Instead of simply replying that "Sorry, you should just attempt returning it back in Sisters.", he felt the need to make a scene in front of customers with a harsh tone and implying my girlfriend was an idiot with questions like "Was it flat when you bought it?" saying that WE caused the flat tire. Among other snarky and snide comments while he was prioritizing an employee purchase over a long line of customers. I'd be embarrassed having such a person in charge of my store. I won't be supporting ANY Bend Ace Hardware stores because of this experience and will be encouraging friends and family to do their business elsewhere. read more

Hello. I love your store, and shop frequently. I am, however, worried about your employees. I see how many people they're exposed to when I come to the store. I'm concerned for their health. Your employees are not able to have 6 feet, let alone 3 feet distance between themselves and customers. The company should take extra initiative to make this possible. Make an extension for the counter where the cashiers are AT LEAST! The homeless population in Bend is pretty high, and I know for a fact how many of those individuals come into the store for soda/the restroom. (I'm not trying to be rude, but a large percent of them are sick, which is putting Ace employees at an even higher risk. I've also noticed some older employees, who will be facing more grave consequences of getting covid-19 if you don't do something to help them! As a boss, you should make sure your employees are safe if you're going to keep the store open during a health pandemic. read more

Everything you can find here you can find elsewhere for way less money. The only thing this place has going for it is location. Also, if you have any kind of manufacturer coupon, they may or may not honor it. I recieved 4 coupons from a manufacturer for a warranty issues (for an item worth about $3 on the shelf). New cashier had no clue (not his fault) the guy next to him had to call someone else on their James Bond radios to find out how to ring it in. in the end, they told me they would only accept one coupon (and they don't bother trying to get reimbursed by the manufacturer). So, when I asked if that meant I had to exit the store and make another 3 separate trips? or they weren't going accept the other coupons ever...the guy just walked away from me. I guess their "ACE Rewards" program means you get rewarded with a view of the back of their head as they disrespect you the customer. Nice. What good is it if a manufacturer stands by their product and the store won't? and if the store is too lazy to get manufacturere coupons reimbursed, why should the customer be penalized? Hmm..after being a customer for as long as the store has been there.. 15 years? I'm gone. For life. Never shopping at ACE again. read more

Perhaps the closest thing to an "old fashioned hardware store" in Bend. While part of the ACE chain, this store has great customer service, always someone helpful to point you in the right direction, and no matter what it is we are looking for, from a small fastener to a specific tool, they seem to have it. Some of the smaller things are even available as "singles" without having to purchase a plastic package of dozens when you need only one or two. Fair prices too. And they even have home-wares. I found the neatest striated glass jar with a funky lid to make vanilla sugar in as a gift for a friend. As one example. But I digress... As a woman who loves hardware stores, I love to wander about in this one in "gather" mode once my "hunt" purchase has been found. My hubby likes it too as whatever he is "hunting" for is easy to locate and staff know the product lines well enough to offer informed recommendations. And of the many, many purchases he's made there only one needed to be returned and the return was handled by friendly staff without a long, complicated wait and process. This is not your typical ACE hardware store!! ACE is usually my go to location" for hardware needs. I absolutely love them EXCEPT for this Bend location!!! The employees here seem to think a customer is an inconvenience. I've been in several times and it's always the same situation PLUS, I'm not the only one who feels this way!! It has to be a reflection of upper management because people aren't typically this bad. Stay away from this ACE and head to Sisters ACE or Home Depot. This one sucks!!......cheers.... read more

Customer service number one NOT here. All I need was a car key cut was told no by management. So my business will no longer step through yours doors ever. Think how much that cost your bottom line. Cut key for a fee, no. My spending money in your store never priceless. Stupid logic. Stupidity runs deep shop elsewhere and save yourself time and anguish of shopping where there is no customer service. Lowe's knows what customer service is not only did they cut my keys they did not charge me anything which gets all my hardware store business from now on Ace never again as there customer service stinks!! Wow! Horrible employees. First employee walked out the front door as we were walking in replacing a cart out front. No greeting at all!! Second employee standing behind the cash register- again no greeting. Third employee standing in the parking lot talking to a military person. After about 10 minutes walking around the store- trying to find their generators - we ended up just leaving- now I know exactly how a ghost feels :) Won't ever go out of my way to give this Ace store any business- it definitely is not the place of any helpful hardware folks!!! I called this location because I heard from a friends that zero gravity chairs were in sale, when I asked the women on the phone if they were on sale she yelled at me "NO THEY ARE NOT!" THREE times, wouldn't let me say a word and she was about to yell it again when I just hung up. It was the strangest most unprofessional phone call I've ever been on. I really like this place. Very knowledgeable and attentive staff. Although it's a small store they have a better selection of hardware than the big box guys on the north side of town. I wish I knew her name, but there is this one lady there that really knows her stuff and just about everyone defers to her when I have a tough question. She always knows exactly what I need and where it is in the store. She is great! She has never steered me wrong. It's a pleasure shopping here and I go even when it's a bit out of the way. read more

People are great here but don't count on getting what you need. Inventory is a big problem. I try to support local businesses instead of Amazon or big boxes but it doesn't seem like they want to make the same commitment to me as a customer. Many times I go there first, find out they only have one or bin is empty, then drive to the big box. Big box is now my first stop. read more

I just had a horrible customer experience with this location. I ordered online for same day pick up. Order completed by 4:30 pm and said it would be ready that day. Nothing. No further communication. No notice of we're sorry there is a delay. Nothing. Finally get alerted the next day at 12:30ish that my order is ready and I can call their number for curbside pickup. There is no Dugan game for curbside pick up. I call and get a busy signal. It took 4 or so times for me to get it to ring and talk to someone. No was then told to hold and left holding for eight minutes before I gave up and went inside. Then no one would tell me where to for a pick up. I was told simply I'm helping another customer by an employee walking around the store. Finally got someone to talk to me and granted I was pissed but this person had no clue what to do, how to look up my order or how to find it (it was right behind her on a table). Another employee finally intervened and just asked me what was the order and picked it up off the table. Seriously, if you can't communicate with your customers don't offer online ordering and curbside pick up. BAD Service! read more

Unfortunately after multiple tries at this location I have given up on having a good experience here. It has offered some of the worst customer service that I have experienced (it has been rude, unhelpful, and those who have helped often acting as if a question is too bothersome or your taking their offer for help a nuisance). Today was my last chance and my experience was more or less the same. We are not obligated to go to this location or ACE for supplies, there are many other choices in town; they have lost my business for good. read more

The lady (cashier)ignored me by asking someone else ready to pay when I was next in line, and I had issues to swipe my card and She was so frustrated that without asking me grabbed my card from my hands so furious to swipe my card. I felt so bad because I had a lady older than me in front treatment me so bad. Very bad customer service. read more

Just spoke with Ron wow I have been in this location before and service has been good. Typically Ace you pay a bit higher but the service is better. I go up to Ron and ask if I can get a key made? He says I'm not sure if I have time. Wow Ron the get someone that does. I felt as an inconvenience to get a basic need. After him searching for a mail box key for about 6 minutes he looks at me and says they don't have that key. I call BS Ron I looked and you had every key in Stock you weren't missing any. You carelessness speaks about your level of service. Home Depot got it right the first time I went in. Be aware of Ron at this location he doesn't want to be bothered helping customers. read more

Great place to go that item you need for your fix it project. They really try hard to find what you need. Not quite the inventory of the big box stores, but they more than make up for it in customer service. Most the time they have what I need and when they don't they are willing to suggest where to find it. I like that they know their product and can help guide you with most problems. read more

this store has gone down hill in customer service since they opened. I went in to buy a lawnmower. They could not even be bothered to wait on me. I counted 12 associates wandering around the store with 3 customers in the building. I finally went up to the cashier about getting help with the lawn mowers and she would not even call for help. I sent in a customer service comment to their corporate and was essentially dismissed in the response. They do not need to worry. I won't be back. read more

Ace is so great. A large section of the store is devoted solely to nuts, bolts, screws, washers and any other little thing you could think of. The staff is well trained, helpful and courteous. I've always been helped by someone. You don't need to hunt to find someone to help you. It's also nice to see the same people working there year after year. The store is clean, organized, well lit, funky music playing, free soda drinks, you can even take a leashed well-behaved pooch in with you. Remember the "old school" corner hardware stores? A few weeks ago I had to fix one leaking and one broken main plumbing valve (no water in house) while husband was off fishing! Three plumbers never returned my help calls and the one who finally did couldn't come for a week. He thought I could do the fix myself if I was willing to go under house. I told him I had been to HD to buy stuff but didn't feel confident in what they sold me. He said go to Ace because they are well trained and know their stuff. I went into the store, they directed me to the plumbing expert Mike. After explaining that I had already purchased things at another store, he told me to bring them in so we could look them over and that he would give me instructions even if I didn't buy anything from them! Turns out I was sold me some wrong things so I bought the correct tool and after Mike showed me exactly how to use it, was on my way. I went under the house & found that I had the wrong valve size so had to return to Ace again. Mike sold me the correct size then proceeded to tell me that he and his wife had to come to town the next day (his day off) and that if I had any issue, they would come by and he would fix himself!!! This still shocks me! I don't think I've ever had such a thoughtful, caring and knowledgeable sales person....even when I was spending way more money on something. I will never forget his caring, helpful heart! As I said, I will always go to Ace first from now on. With help like this, I would expect and be happy to pay more than the big box store...but turns out, Ace was cheaper on the parts I needed! Amazing place...am now a loyal customer for life! read more
