Seantelle the dispatcher was DISHONEST in scheduling medical transportation, actually lying to my insurance company! She claimed I cancelled a scheduled ride, when in fact she failed to schedule the ride in the first place. She was then rude to me and hung up. As a result of dishonesty I had to schedule a new appointment for the medical procedure for another day. My insurance company fired Ace 1 Taxi at my request over Seantelle's dishonesty. read more

I've had rides by this company a few times and never had a bad ride. Drivers were all very nice and since I'm new here, they helped me by letting me know a few good places to eat when I asked. I would recommend them to anyone. I would definitely keep using them. They're great! read more

Their taxi vans are poorly maintained. I've seen one with multiple dents right around it, missing parts on the front bumper, rubber strip seal hanging down from the drivers side sliding door while a person was trying to enter the van. The person had to duck under while holding it out of their way in order to get seated, situated then the door could be closed. There's all kinds of abnormal sounds coming from their taxi engines as well, anything from squealing, squeaking and tapping sounds; sounds related to a poorly maintained vehicle. There was one instance where i actually had to tell a driver that the taxi he was driving needed power steering fluid. I could obviously hear it squealing as he'd turn the wheel and i knew it was low on fluid. Then there's another van that has a trunk/tailgate that doesn't work. So where does wheelchairs and groceries go? I personally wouldn't recommend them to anyone, unless you plan to get stranded somewhere, late to your destination or inconvenienced altogether. It's unsafe and unprofessional. There's other taxi companies here in Hilo who are professional and takes/has pride and integrity in the name of their business and cares about the lives and safety of their passengers. read more

I was too tired today, after my Ace 1 taxi debacle, to do or say anything. I all I asked for was a taxi ride from Volcano to Hilo. The response was only if I gave them my credit card number in advance. Have any of you ever had to give a credit card number over the phone for a ride? I actually had an issue. I had just had fraud on my account and my bank cancelled my card. I assured this company and its driver I had more than enough cash for the ride. The driver, citing "protocol," declined. Which meant I missed my plane. I am pretty certain, after checking PUC licensing regulations, that this "protocol" concept is against PUC "protocol." I missed my flight. I am pissed. And I am going to go for it. Yet my point is simply this. Do not, under any circumstances, ask for service from these folks. read more

What would you rather have, having to wait a few minutes for Uber/Lyft or hours for Ace 1 taxi? Besides, sometimes the taxi drivers don't pick you up at all because they are too busy trying to collect as much people as they can, being that Ace 1 is a share ride taxi cab, or because they simply forgot to pick you up. They done it to me a few times. And they were always late (at least an hour every time I called them). Nobody should call this company, you'll regret it if you do. read more

If i could I'd give this taxi service a 0! One of their women drivers was early, rushed me to hurry up by yelling at me multiple times. I put my baby in the van an my brother was helping to load my stroller inside she was yelling to hurry up or she's leaving... I am 6 months pregnant on top of everything an being rushed by this driver! I didn't feel comfortable so I took my baby out an my stroller as I walked away she yells she should kick my ass!! Seriously... Threatening me on my own property! This lady is nuts... She needs help I can't believe this terrible service especially around my baby. I made a complaint and made a police report.. This company provide horrible service. The driver was 30 minutes late, my wife who is physically disabled had to hurry to her appointment, further injuring herself. The taxi service was supposed to send car for her to be picked up, but they were a no show. The driver was answer his phone while driving, and taking notes on a clipboard WHILE DRIVING. Worst Taxi service ever. They tell you "you have to wait for about 15 minutes" next thing you know, you're waiting for 2 hours outside. Ace Taxi is the #1 taxi service on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was started by a reputable man in Hilo. But when he died and it went to his wife, it just went downhill from there. Her sister, the man's sister-in-law offered to buy it for thousands, but her sister refused and sold it to someone else for a dollar. So it became a company business through bad blood. They hired many young, Hawaiin locals. I don't know if you have ever been to the Big Island but the locals don't like visitors, of which there are a lot. They are incredibly tired of tourists and white people, who, to them, don't know how to act or what to do or how to behave to what to say. They just resent them. This brings us to a ride the day of the festival at Hawaii U last year where I was attending. I had a coupon (big mistake), which I had bought 5 of at the school. I taxiid all the way to school from my off campus housing and arrived to find the library closed. So I spent a couple hours at the festival. But as it got late I realized I wasn't getting any studying done. So I called Ace One. The girl who picked me up was quiet. I gave her a coupon and said Hi, the festival was fun but I need to get home to study as the library is closed. She didn't say a word. We picked up another person who was chatty. She was going to pay cash. I talked to her and said yes I needed to get home to study. The driver picked up another person. She was talking to the person. I chimed in and said it was such a great time at the festival. Did they go? But yeah, I was headed home to study. Finally the driver exploded at me. She said I didn't need to keep saying I was headed home to study, I said it 5 fucking times already and I had a coupon so she was dropping the other people off first. I was afraid she would kick me out way out of the way and keep my coupon. I kept my mouth shut the rest of the way. This told me a few things about the driver. She was a young, Hawaiin local who found outsiders incredibly irritating, and didn't go to school herself. She was resentful of the students and other outsiders, possibly because she did not travel nor go to school herself. So she was kicking at the boundaries that held her in. And she took it out on me. This is how many of the young people who were hired at Ace One taxi company service treat their customers. It is a terribly rude, resentful fleet of drivers and I do not suggest using them unless you want to be verbally abused, which is terribly likely. read more

If I could give this company negative stars, I would. After having used them for taxi services for nearly 2 months, I finally had enough of their drivers' impolite, uncomfortable, and wreck less driving disposition. I have seen drivers flip out on shared taxi riders for switching payment methods, which, although it may be annoying, is a minor inconvenience. And, mind you, the said customers were never rude or abusive in the first place or after being treated like crap by their driver. Cursing and insulting taxi patrons isn't a way to receive return business. I know that for a fact, having worked in customer service for nearly 10 years. They are habitually late, rude, and drive like psychopaths. I think if people in this community didn't rely on them so hard to get through their errands and whatnots, these people would have ZERO business. And in a state where hospitality is the major industry, you would think these people would act like their passengers are more of an important asset. Need a ride in Hilo? I schedule for a taxi 09/06/2017 to pick my son and I up at Pizza Hut on W Kalwailani at 5:18pm. Dispatch said the wait will be 30 minutes. 45 minutes later my calls were sent to voicemail and i never got picked up. I end up having to wait 20 more minutes for another taxi to pick my son and I up. I will never attempt to use them again. read more

This is the most unreliable taxi company I have ever encountered! They have left many of my friends and myself stranded with out even a call saying they arent going to make it. They have also made a good friend of mine miss her flight when she had made an appointment to ensure that she would get there on time! they showed up 40 mins late with out even an apology. They are also very rude and make the trips very uncomfortable! So I advise that NO ONE EVER CALLS THEM! read more

Arranged to be picked up from the Airport at 10pm but as I was leaving the airport the taxi driver was leaving. No attempt was made to even call me to let me know my taxi arrived or was leaving. When I called I was told that he would not turn around even though I could see his headlights and sign still, instead I was told to use the airport's taxi service. read more

I've been riding with several shared-Ride Taxis for over 15 years in Hilo, HI, and Ace One Taxi USED to provide good service a LONG time ago. No more! Recently when I was told and promised to be picked up at a certain time from a doctor's office to go back back home in Pepeekeo (which is still just under the 9 mi. limit), I was repeatedly put off, and put off, and put off, with so many promises from them that they "would be right there", or "in 20 mins." (thus keeping me from calling a different company) they just blew me off. I was waiting and calling them back and getting promises from them for TWO HOURS!!! They never came!! They don't like to "take the extra time" to drive someone back out to Pepeekeo (even if I give them an extra tip, mind you), so they just don't come for you, put you off forever, keeping you hanging on, and on, tired and waiting, and then leave you stranded!!!! they NEVER CAME FOR ME THAT DAY! I am disabled, and on that day I had to slowly and painfully walk with my cane to the bus terminal, to try catch the last bus out of town. It was so hard on me, bus driver and other passengers had to help me up and off the bus. This is unforgivable of Ace One Taxi. Them treating me like I am dispensable junk.
