We were stranded at the airport in the tsunami warning in August, our ship had left without us and no one was coming to get us. It was the scariest experience of my and my family's lives. We had no idea what to do, no one was coming. However, Venice heard that people were stuck at the airport and turned her taxi around to come help. I have never experienced such generosity or goodness in my life. Another family that was stranded and mine piled into her car and sat in traffic for 3 hours on the coast, all scared and counting down the minutes until the first wave was supposed to hit. Not knowing how little the tsunami would actually hit, at that moment Venice was putting her life on the line for us. We had nowhere to go and she reached out to all of her friends to find housing for us and we spent the night at one of her friends' homes. Thankfully, the tsunami threat was not as bad as they were expecting, but my family and I will be forever grateful for the selflessness and bravery Venice showed us. She is an incredibly kind woman and if there is ever someone you would want to support, it is her. We will be reaching out every time we are in Hilo, and I can't think of a better woman to give your business to!! read more

We used them twice. Both times they were friendly, cabs were clean, price was affordable.

First driver stated that she would pick me up in 15 minutes, arrived late, then immediately drove away. She then called me saying she had a different pick-up and blocked my phone number. The second driver came by ten minutes later, unrequested, and drove in a circle to rack up the bill more. I know my way around town enough to know that the university is a straight shot away from where I was being picked up from. Somehow this driver turned a 7 minute, straight forward drive into a winding maze for a solid 16 minutes. I cannot believe any of the positive reviews. Never taking requesting a taxi from them again. read more

I wish i could give Venice Taxi 10 stars!! I accidentally thought my flight was the next day but it was actually that very evening, departing in 1.5 hours! I called Venice Taxi and quickly threw all my belongings into my bag. The place where I stayed is a bit hidden and difficult to see from the roads so the driver (I'm so sad I never got her name) kept calling to make sure she finds the place and arrives as quickly as possible. On our way to the airport, she called dispatch(?) inquiring on the status of the flight and whether the plane had arrived. I can tell she knows Hilo like the back of her hand. She is also an EXCELLENT driver as she knew the timing of red lights and whether to take alternative routes to cut down on time. Not only is she a professional, safe, and reliable she is SUPER nice. She didn't mind that I didn't have the right change. She only cared that I made my flight. She kept saying, "It's okay honey, just go run!" I'm so thankful I took Venice Taxi. Was in a pinch and the usual cab I take couldn't pick me up and I needed to get someplace face. So I saw this company was available at a pretty late time so phone in. Had a little mix up with the pick up but it was an enjoyable ride and the driver was pretty fun. I recommend it if your ever in a pinch. read more

What can I say! Venice Taxi is excellent! This is my first time visiting Hilo. Due to such a short stay, I am in dire need to find a taxi driver to take me around for and to meet with all my demands. Venice is great too! She has been giving me good advices on tours and what to do. I trust her a lot and in the end, I was totally satisfied. She is very honest and unlike some taxi drivers I know, she has her great personality and integrity. she called me with instructions where to meet her when arriving Hilo, and she picked me up on time (so early in the morning) to drop me off to the lava boat location. We managed to contact her and she brought the phone back to the airport. She would accept no cash for the extra journey and was kind and caring at all times.
