They were extremely rude. The doctor kept yelling at me because I did not follow his unclear orders for my exam. I had a diabetic exam which they billed the exam as not a medical exam and they tried to bill the Insurance company for two different Dilation exams. When the Insurance company questioned the two charges for the same dilation, then Accuvision tried to bill me. Very unethical and dishonest business. When I called their District Manager Patti out in McHenry county, she yelled profanity at me and hung on me. I called to make a complaint and I was told someone would return my call, it never happened. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!!! read more

I was there earlier today w my little brother. The optometrist was super sweet. But two of the receptionist were rude. And while I understand that you don't always have to smile the three girls at the front looked like they didn't want to be there. I've been going to multiple Accuvison locations for over 10 years the doctors are great but I just can't do it anymore the customer service is always awful even trying to make an appointment is pulling teeth. Then when you pick glasses they try to upsell you even if you have told them a budget you need to stay in. I had the woman tell me I was being cheap, no I just have a budget . I work in customer service I can't imagine telling someone they are being cheap. So I'm done, going to a different place kinda sad because the the woman eye dr at this location is amazing. read more

Not sure what is with all the negative reviews. I have been coming to this AccuVision since I was in high school. They have always given prompt & friendly service. I get contacts, colored contacts & glasses here every year & my daughter comes here for her yearly checkups as well. Never had any issues with using VSP insurance. read more

Customer service here sucks! I scheduled an appointment and didn't have my insurance information. So I called back today to give my info and was asking the guy if he can tell me what my insurance covers for contact lenses. They guy was so rude on the phone and replied, "I am busy and I don't do that! You should check online and do it yourself!" Wow, I was not expecting this. He has no customer service skills at all He could have said that he was busy and that he can call me back later with the info, I would've been fine with that. But he was so rude!! I stopped by this location hoping they would have the frames my insurance covered. Mary showed me what was available. They did not have the latest available frames, but I tried on what was there. I placed an order but 20 minutes later called to cancel since it just wasn't what I wanted. That was all fine. However, my refusal to buy any of the up-sells for coatings or high index lens left Mary exasperated. She warned I would get headaches. I felt she was not happy. This made me feel bad. Not the experience I was looking for. Oh well, someplace else will have what I want. Mary also wanted to charge me for the PD. I don't really need it since I have it from prior prescriptions...but really, I thought they had to give you that as part of the prescription. read more

This place is awful. The staff is rude, inattentive, and they only care about making a sale. I asked for the best of the best as far as cut-down lenses and anti-glare (I have a terrible prescription and the lenses are very thick otherwise). My glasses came in looking like coke bottle glasses and I already ordered a new pair from a different place - my regular eye doctor. The only reason I went to Accuvision in the first place is because they got me in on a moment's notice when I broke my old pair. My regular office told me that they did not cut down the lenses nearly as much as they could have. I made a $300 mistake by wasting my time at this pitiful excuse for a vision center. read more

The staff here is always very friendly and helpful. I have never had a problem here. The prices are not bad considering the price of glasses and contacts elsewhere. When I was getting new contacts they saw me a number of times to ensure I got the correct fit. read more

Aside from the rude customer service, they give you wrong prices/rebate/insurance information. They pressure you into making a purchase only to find out afterwards later they charged you significantly more than the estimate. My first experience, THEY BROKE MY GLASSES. They went to adjust BRAND NEW FRAMES and cracked them. No discount or replacement was offered. Make sure you validate prices before you purchase because there are no returns, only store credits. Another associate told me I would be covered for both glasses and contacts, later to find out my insurance only covered one or the other. Like the other reviewer said, THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE A SALE!! Be sure to check with your provider before you believe anything that comes out of their mouth!! If it was one associate that would be one thing, but it was 3 of them now I've had issues with!! If you ignore customers and can't treat them with respect, YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My favorite part is how they tell you they'll call you back and don't, or when they accuse you that you're wrong because of the information that another associate gave you was incorrect. This whole staff needs to be replaced. For those of you in the area, I WOULD RECOMMEND ANY OTHER LOCATION. Round Lake is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Gurnee is also a nearby option. Beware the heavy handed sales tactics when it comes to buying new frames, lens upgrades and additional eye lens coatings. I was made to feel badly for the choices I was making and ridiculed for the fact that my prescription had increased because of my age. read more

Initially I was under the impression that this would be my new eye care facility. The kid on the phone took my last minute appointment on a saturday, answered all my questions over the phone without hesitation and upon arrival I was brought into the exam room quickly. It turns out that either the kid had zero idea what he was talking about or that the manager/owner trains his desk people to be purposefully deceptive. I called several places, lenscrafters, walmart, visionworks, etc to compare prices before making my appointment. Despite being a last minute thing, I don't want to throw away money for some convenience. By the time I was ready to pay the bill, the price was the highest I had been quoted all day by $22 and more than double what I was told on the phone. The manager then questioned the amount of money I have available to me instead of trying to find a real solution to the issue. I feel bad for the young girl helping me at the desk and the woman who examined my eyes, they did a great job. Clearly this guy doesn't care to do his job correctly and make sure he has satisfied customers. I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years and this has been the worst experience I've had. I will not be back and I will not refer anyone here under any circumstances. read more

I have bought several pairs of glasses from AccuVision in Mundelein and they all have fit well and the vision has always been spot on. I like the variety of frames they offer. They even were able to find a frame for me not in stock by showing them a picture and giving them the info on the arm of the glasses. Don and Mary are very knowledgeable and so helpful. Mary is really good at picking frames to compliment your face shape if you ask her to. I now don't go anywhere else for my glasses or contacts. read more
