Hi, I got a call from Ford out of the blue. She says I'm coming up on 50k miles, do I want to schedule a checkup? I said no. A month later my check engine light turns on & I got 3 messages on the Ford app to service the engine. I took my truck in to be checked out & Oscar says, "your truck is fine & I reset your light, no charge." These guys are cream of the crop !!! Ford would of charged $150 to do the same thing. I'll never go back to Ford!!!! read more

Been going to Accurate for a little under 10 years. Oscar has been very professional and I have been able to contact him after hours when I broke down. No job is to small or to big for them. Highly recommend you give them a shot! Honest people honest work read more

I've been a customer at Accurate Imports for over a decade, and I always recommend them to friends asking for a trustworthy mechanic. They're professional, reliable, easy to work with, and IMO have never once tried to upsell something that seemed unnecessary. Their pricing is fair and the work is done right the first time. Oscar and his team are great. read more

I have been their customer for over 25 years. Oscar and his team are great. I am so glad to know that I have a trusted and reliable team to bring my car (200,000 miles) to when it needs attention. Thank you. He never overcharges and does what is needed not more. He also has been gracious to my adult children. read more

Love having Accurate Imports in the neighborhood. They've done various fixes for my car (automatic door lock repair, light body work, some mechanical issues) over the years and every time their prices are fair, work is done quickly, and most importantly done right the first time. The woman who works the phones and behind the front counter (I feel terrible I can't remember her name) is super friendly and always takes the time to listen and make sure any issues get addressed properly. The mechanics are top notch. Trust this business, finding a good mechanic is difficult, glad they're around. read more

Oscar and his team are great. They do their best to get your vehicle back to you as soon as possible. They also do everything that they can to give you the best price. Today they went out of their way to diagnose a electrical shortage and ended up finding a solution that saved me money on a part and saved me from having to schedule another fix. These are reliable people that will continue to get my business. read more

These guys rock. They're my goto guys now - i've had many tire problems and Joe and Oscar (Carlos, too) always go the extra mile to help me out - staying open late, giving me advice on the phone, or only charging me when they fix something. For example, a couple weeks ago I took my car in cuz it was vibrating so bad on the highway i could only drive up to 50 mph .. they concluded i hit a bad pothole - which i do all the time on crappy chicago roads. They tried to fix, balanced the tires, and moved the guilty wheel from front to back, but said to really fix i would have to get new wheels or send mine away to get fixed (which i have yet to do). It still vibrates, but much less - i can go 75 mph now. And they did this all for free. I don't know if its cuz i dropped $2k last fall with them or if they're this nice to people off the street - either way, I highly recommend them. read more

You know up front when you purchase an import it is going to be a pricey investment, especially if you plan on keeping it and using it regularly over an extended period of time. The local dealership has had its way with me in the past, and this time I needed a problem fixed on the spot. On a tip from a co-worker, who drives the same 528i as I do, he told me a while back that if I was ever in a pinch to call Oscar over at Accurate. Oscar was someone I was hoping I would never have to talk to, but on this chilly morning when the ol' girl decided she didn't want to go to work, I placed the call. I was surprised by how attentive he was to my needs, got me a contact for a flatbed tow truck (BMWs cannot be towed any other way), and howquickly he was able to get my car in there and complete the job. The estimates were spot on, and he also provided a detailed emailed list of recommended but not required options to address other problems with the vehicle that were lurking issues in the immediate to not too distant future. These guys are honest, do a fantastic job, surprisingly efficient, and are extremely reliable. I challenge you that in the event you ever have anything you need done to your vehicle, take the estimate from your favorite spot and bring it over to the crew over at Accurate. I estimate that they saved me a couple thousand dollars in comparison to a Dealership, and they specialize in imports and have the capacity and the staff to complete jobs in a quality fashion. The car drives brand new felt like a learjet on my recent weekend trip to the Final Four in Indianapolis. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Try em once, and I promise you that won't go elsewhere. read more

The check Engine light came back on again, right after the first service. Apparently they are unable to truly diagnose the issue based on reading the computer codes. I ended up taking the car back on 4 separate occasions over 5 months. So after they replaced more perfectly good sensors, the check engine light came on again a day later. Since the car ran, although poorly, I have delayed to take my car back in for service. I finally found a Diesel mechanic (http://www.mobileoneinc.com), who was able to diagnose the problem fairly easily by just removing the valve cover and actually looking at the engine rather than rely on computer codes, which had not even been properly cleared out at Accurate Imports. The cylinders were worn down, which causes numerous sensors to report erroneous data, hence the check engine light. What it boiled down to is that Accurate Imports completely failed to diagnose the real issue, and it cost me over $700 in parts and labor to fix what was not broken. Oscar is a nice guy, but he relies too heavily on computer codes, and seems unable to diagnose purely mechanical engine problems. DO NOT TAKE A DIESEL TO THIS SHOP FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS. read more

I'd been fretting for months about a noise my car was making when I accelerated. I'd brought my Honda to two mechanics before finding Accurate Imports on Car Talk's Website, and one (Carr's Honda) said it was the struts while the other - (Park Ridge Auto Clinic - my mechanic for as long as I've driven) - said my car was just "getting older and louder." Meanwhile I was afraid to drive over 40, because the noise got louder and louder as I accelerated. Accurate Imports quickly diagnosed the problem (turns out my struts were absolutely fine and intact - I had a cracked tie rod and worn wheel bearings on my driver's side front wheel) and they fixed that plus half a dozen other far more minor things for over $100 less than I'd been quoted at Carr's Honda just to replace my perfectly good struts. My car is nearly silent now as I drive, and I am SO relieved and feel safe again behind the wheel! I can't recommend them highly enough. Carlos took the time to listen to exactly what my worries were over the phone, then went over everything with me again when I came in to drop off the car. He then asked if there was anything else I noticed or was concerned about. He then called me back after going over my car from bumper to bumper and gave me breakdown in price for each thing they'd found that needed to be taken care of, distinguishing between what needed to be taken care of immediately versus what I could wait on for a while. I won't go anywhere else. read more

I've been taking various cars to Oscar at Accurate Imports for about 6 years. It's not easy to find a good, honest mechanic-- I felt lucky to have a guy like Oscar working on my car. Accurate Imports has always been fast, reasonably priced, and straightforward about what needed to be done. They always remembered me, and went out of their way to make repairs easy and convenient. Oscar always showed me exactly what was wrong, and what my options were. He would even bring out damaged or worn-out parts to show me, so I would understand exactly what was being done to my car. If a part didn't look like it needed to be replaced, then they didn't replace it. They never pushed for extra or unnecessary repairs. For example, they told me that my shocks were wearing out last fall, but advised that I could make it to the spring before replacing them if I was careful. I really appreciated the transparency and honesty, where other places would have just said "replace them." I never felt like I was being misled or ripped off ever, and that's a rare feeling at a mechanic. Oscar stands by his work and guarantees the quality of repairs. There were times when things didn't "stay" fixed-- he always took care of it professionally with no extra charge. I just traded in my old car for a new one under warranty, and honestly I'm a little sad that I won't need to come in and see the guys at Accurate Imports for a while. But I will definitely send my friends and family their way, and recommend them to anyone who needs a mechanic. I would give them 10 stars if I could!!! read more

Volkswagen owners - take your cars here. They've been working on VWs for years! Like Elizabeth H., I would these guys a 10-star rating if I could. I've never dealt with them before, but found them after a google search which turned up the review by Elizabeth. When a woman recommends a mechanic, I always feel better about going in cold. I thought I knew what was wrong with my car when I went in. They even ordered the part I thought it needed. Oscar took one look at the problem and showed me where I was completely wrong. He then took a spring out of a box and fixed my car, sending me on my way without charging me a dime. I wish I'd known about Accurate Imports ages ago. They are honest and completely professional. Trust your car with Oscar and Carlos. They'll do right by you! read more

I've been bringing my 95 Cabrio here for about three years. Oscar gave me a complete rundown of all the work it needed --heaps!-- and did a triage list so I could have things fixed bit by bit. Over time and not too much money, we've brought my car back from the near-dead to life. This morning I phoned him a photo of a fluid-holding thing under my hood and asked him what to put in it as it seemed low. That call saved me a grand, at least. Great service, honest people, top notch work. read more

A lot of old ratings, but accurate ratings. Have to update one. This is now my go to mechanical shop and I'm so glad I found this place because Oscar seems like a great honest guy. Amazing work. Hopefully I don't have any more car problems but if so, this is the spot. read more

The best thing about this shop is that you can trust what the tell you. As my car is getting older, I'm anticipating breakdowns. The guys at Accurate tell you the exact state of your car. What's wrong, and what could potentially be wrong down the road. They don't hussle you into a repair you don't need, but suggest that you many need it. As long as I own an import, and live in Chicago, Accurate will be my go-to shop! read more

Oscar has serviced our 1990 Nissan 300ZX and 1999 Saab 9/5. When the warranty runs out on our 2006 Acura TL, we will be back to see Oscar for that car too. We heard about Oscar from Car Talk on NPR. After taking our Saab to every dealer in the Chicago land area and even Merrillville, IN, for repairs but never getting the problems permanently fixed, Oscar worked miracles on the car but was also honest enough to tell us we have a lemon. He doesn't do any unnecessary work and is upfront and extremely accurate about the estimate for repairs which always come under what we guessed it would cost. You could eat off the floor of his garage it is so clean. We also like being able to drop-off our car after hours and put the key in the mail slot. His crew has been more than patient with us when we try to beat rush hour traffic to get to them before closing and never quite making it on time. We appreciate that Oscar explains everything clearly and doesn't talk down to us just because we don't know anything about cars. read more

Took my Honda here a few months ago for some major scheduled maintenance after reading numerous reviews online (Yelp, CarTalk, etc) that this was the best mechanic in my area. I found this to be definitely true. I took my car to Oscar and he gave me a detailed estimate for the work I requested, which also turned out to be the accurate final cost. He didn't try to sell me any other repairs, which I didn't need (like other mechanics do) and the work was finished early. Oscar even stayed open late when I was running late to pick my car up. My car is reliable, so I haven't had to return since my initial visit, but I'll know where to go in the future! read more

Oscar is the man!!! He understands the philosophy of being honest and how far that goes. Word of mouth is the best marketing and this only happens when your are good to your customers. I was referred to Oscar from a friend and have been going, and referring my friends, ever since. He never tries to suggest more than what is needed. For example, I took my Altima in for its brakes and he suggested that I only change the front as the rear ones still had much life left. read more

I religiously take care of my car, it's still my dream car, and I know it well after 15 years. Mid-2018, I lost my longtime mechanic due to his moving out of state, and needed "a guy" to care for my car as much as he did. I found Oscar & Crew at Accurate Imports. Some work needed to be done on shocks, oil pan, thermostat, and other "Old Car" issues. I have found their work to be excellent, fixes are accompanied with messages with pictures. and their estimates have been bang-on both time and dollar. This is enough to sing praises, but after a recent unseen issue these guys caught, and worked over holidays to address, I'm just sorry I cannot fly a banner over the city for him. I have "a Guy" and will be sending everybody in my family to him. Well, well, done, and am glad to have found you guys. read more

This place is completely out of the way for me...but after going there once, I won't go anywhere else. I had a small engine noise that other places failed to diagnose which these guys found rather quickly. Although it ended up being a Tranny noise (which stinks), they tried cheaper routes to fix the noise. They did a complete inspection of my car at no cost (even replacing the battery in my key fob). These are good honest guys and I will take my Audi there whenever I need work done. read more

This place is the only place I will ever have my car serviced. Not only is Oscar and his team fair, they are quick, caring, flexible, and overall great people. They change lights when they are out, always on time in the mornings, return calls and quotes and have great customer service. I have been in for oil leaks, tires, oil changes, broken mirrors etc. If you want honest, quick, and down to earth mechanic that cares as much about your car as your kids car seats ( offered to take them out for us after needing to keep the car longer for an add-on service I wanted) ---look no further! read more

Super happy I took my car to Accurate Imports! The rear camera in my Prius has been broken for some time. They took an initial look at it for free. Very nice people to work with.

At 8:15pm on a Tuesday, I dropped off the keys in Accurate Imports. They said they'd call the next day when they'd sorted out the issue with my BMW. They did not. I called them mid-day the next day and they said they were unable to fix the problem, but "hadn't gotten around to" telling me the car was ready to be hauled to another shop with more capable staff. Additionally, they couldn't refer me to another shop. I ended up taking it to another shop after three days. Bottom line not professional, waste of time. read more

I have a 1999 Subaru Outback and have been taking my car to Oscar since learning about them from the Car Talk website. They are great because they can c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-e. They will also offer to FIX and not necessarily replace damaged parts, which is a huge bonus to the wallet. read more

If it was possible to give 10 stars, I would. They are the nicest and most honest people I have ever met that happen to also be mechanics! I have taken my beloved 11-year-old Nissan Sentra there for a few years and I swear the car still purrs because of their handiwork. If the world comes to an end, my Sentra and roaches will be the only things left! It is a tank. BEST SERIVCE, EVEN BETTER PRICES!!!! Hands down, this is the best mechanic/auto shop in all of Chicago. I couldn't find a bad thing to say about these guys and their business even if I tried. Unlike most auto shops in the city, these guys are wildly efficient and will never try to up-sell you on maintence/work that isn't necessary. I came in for the first time with a 2004 Toyota 4Runner (had about 208k miles on it). I gave them a quick run down and just asked for a general maintence check up. From there, before doing anything else, they immediately topped off all fluids free of charge, and then gave me a detailed estimate of the most pressing issues that needed fixed. I had compared their estimate with the dealer estimate and theirs came in at about $1200 (dealers was $1600). After talking to Oscar and his team about what our options were, they honestly advised me on items that were the most pressing and were straightforward with items that could be held off on for now. Once I gave them the green light to begin the work, Oscar called me back almost immediately regarding an issue with the shocks on my car needing to be replaced. Originally it was quoted out to be about 250$ with parts/labor to fix the issue. Oscar immediately got in touch with the vendor for that specific part and it turned out that the shocks on my car were a special type that would be very expensive, and frankly not worth their value. Rather than trying to sell me on the pair of new shocks that were overpriced, Oscar's direct quote was "the price on these new shocks are absurd, there are other things that we can do at a more reasonable rate, you deserve better". As a first-time customer, that speaks volumes so he and his team were able to intelligently advise me on what were the most pressing issues, and at the end of it all, the intially $1200 estimate of maintenance turned out to be $800. On top of it all, the customer service was exceptional and Oscar & his team were very kind, responsive, and At the end of the day, I would highly recommend them again for any and all auto-related repairs. read more

A great place to bring your car. Honest and hard working. Always kind and accommodating. Oscar deserves the best success.

When I moved to Chicago in 2004, I needed to rebuild my network of restaurants, bars and services, like dry cleaning and auto mechanics. I found Accurate Imports using NPR's Car Talk website and I couldn't be happier with the service I've received. The service is always prompt, honest and, well, accurate. Not being a car person, I'm always worried that I'll get taken advantage of when I take a car in for service, but Oscar, the owner, is always very upfront with what needs to happen and why, as well as how much parts and labor are going to cost. He also keeps service history so I know the last time I had a belt replaced or tires rotated. Accurate Imports also understands the value of customer relationships. One of my tires ended up with a nail in it. Okay, it was more like a bolt. A bolt used to assemble aircraft carriers. Whatever, it was HUGE. They patched it and replaced a burned out bulb for free, knowing that I'd be back in a few months for new tires and general service. You really can't go wrong with Accurate Imports. I recommend them highly. read more

I trust these guys and think they do a good job. I don't know enough about cars to say that they might be able to do more or less or charge more or less. It's mostly a gut feeling and then the folks who are there are usually bringing their cars from far away places. Hence, this leads me to believe that Oscar is a good guy and trustworthy. I recommend them to all my friends and foes. read more

THANK G*D for Accurate Imports! I am extremely stubborn when it comes to car repairs... hey, I have a Haynes manual! Anyways, I needed my brakes fixed and really didn't have the time to deal with ordering the parts, etc. After a few arguments and head butting (time vs. saving a few dollars) with my boyfriend, I agreed to take my car to a professional. They replaced the rear brakes rotors, pads, and sensor on my '96 BMW for less money than we had expected. Plus, the time estimate of 1 and 1/2 hours was right on, and they even helped with a mechanical issue that I didn't have the tool for fixing on my own. This was a great experience, top notch customer service and work! read more

Have a Mysterious Car Problem? Go to these Guys. I wanted to thank you for repairing my 1999 black Saab 9-5 this week. You knew immediately how to fix my leaking moon roof and did so. More importantly, you diagnosed my mysterious engine start problem. It was a crankshaft sensor. You only charged an hour of labor when I think it took more like two hours to diagnose and repair. It was a hard problem that had stumped another car mechanic at a different shop. You've fixed my Saab 9-5 twice when other mechanics failed: 1) Remember the tensioner bar problem that you diagnosed with a screwdriver in 3 minutes or less? I spent $200 trying to have that fixed on the south side by a mechanic. You guys fixed it right the first time. 2) And now the crankshaft sensor. I'd drive my car 5 minutes, shop for 5 minutes, and the car wouldn't start. Had to wait 10 minutes before starting. It also died in traffic a few times (scary). I can't help but give you guys a 5 star rating. You've cost effectively fixed car problems nobody else could fix on my Saab 9-5. Thanks guys. read more

Man I dont know who writes these reviews. Accurate Imports Inc may be OK for simple things like a tune up or oil change but don't take your car for anything more than that. I took my car there a couple of times for oil change mostly. The last time though they really messed up and I'm not going back there again, never. I had a problem with my blower motor. They fixed it in a way that caused my car to almost catch on fire. I was driving my mom to doctor and there was a lot of smoke cumming out from under a dash. I stopped the car and we got out in panic. After a while the car stopped smoking and I took it to another shop. The mechanic told me they put a fuse that was 4 times too big, the biggest one there was which was just plain stupid. He replaced the motor and motor resistoralso he had to replace the burned wiring. It cost me close to $500 to fix Accurate "repair". You think I'm going back to Accurate Imports again, I don't think so. Avoid. read more

These guys are great! They did the timing belt on my Audi and they did an amazing job. The head guy at the counter knew everything there was to know about my car and he answered all the questions that I had about my car getting fixed was was honest about it. I was spending close to $2K on this repair, so it was important to me to have it done correctly, and with out any concern that my car was going to come up with problems later on that were unexpected. If you have a 90's-2000's german car, I highly recommend you use these guys other than the "stealer-ship" for your work that needs to be done. They'll treat you right. read more

What a rip off. Accurate Imports is the most expensive place I've ever been to and they don't know s11t. I probably know more about BMWs than they do. I took my car there and they didn't fix anything. I had a simple Check Engine light problem. I check the codes and figured I'm going to need a O2 sensor. I took it there and those morans replaced the wrong one and not original on top of it. I paid close to $500 for it! I called them it is like talking to idiots. I gave up and took it to another shop $300 the bill was. My advice AVOID! read more

Honest. I am meticulous about maintenance on my vehicles and do not skimp on maintenance, but I refuse to pay the 2x the Audi dealer charges- thats where Accurate Imports fits in. Their work has always been solid, with attention to detail. I highly recommend them. read more

I feel much better taking my import here rather than one of the pricey dealership auto shops. Normally, as a woman, I feel slightly taken advantage of by mechanics but Oscar seems really honest.
