After having a very sudden car troubles, I called All Tech Auto Repair right when they opened and they told me to come on over and were extremely nice. Jerry is the one who helped me and he ran a diagnostics test and told me it was a transmission issue, he explained it very thoroughly to someone like myself who doesn't know much about cars. He told me that they don't have the ability to do transmission but he took the time to google for me if my make and model had a recall and they did. He told me to go to the dealership to see if they'll replace it for free and if they don't he recommended me a good place for transmission repair. After all of this I asked how much i owe him and he told me nothing and he even went out and stopped traffic on Kedzie for me so I could back out of the garage. Here's how you get a car to 100,118 K miles... You change the oil regularly. You pay attention to things, like when your brake indicators squeal to indicate you need new pads or shoes. And you find a great, honest mechanic! All in all, I've been pretty lucky with mechanics I've found over the years I've owned this car, but I'm currently VERY happy with the service I'm getting from Jerry and the folks at All Tech Auto Repair. Electrical issues can drive anyone mad, but Jerry put in siginficant amounts of time and effort to track down my problem, and my sweet, creampuff of an elderly Hyundai is back to running everywhere I need it to go. I had this place recommended by 2 mechanics, I had an 02 sensor which I had already diagnosed and told them what it was by my uncle using a scanner. I wanted to make extra sure and again they were recommended, they charged me $60 to verify what I had told them. Now here is the main problem I've had with this place, I make appointments, and they day off they tell me they are too busy to come back another time or day, I came back they again told me to come another day. Then they tell me to call, in the morning, at noon, in the afternoon, each time telling me they are too busy and cant do the 30min change of this part. This might sum it up - this is the place where other repair shops bring cars for a fix when they don't know how to fix them themselves. If above is not enough, although it should be, here it goes: Yes, I could go to garages that are much closer to me, but I do not. Why? They always provided straight answer, bill that was not inflated, perfectly working car ( two of them ) and that piece of mind in the back of my head when barreling down the highway. Jerry, the owner, is super friendly, knowledgeable and to the point. He is a delight to interact with. You have heard other Yelper's state 'Jerry is the best/amazing/awesome, etc'. Well, he is all that and more. I have dealt with a ton of garage owners in the past and none come even close to Jerry, how he runs the shop and how he interacts with customers. Jerry is the best mechanic you will find! I learned of All Tech Auto a couple of years back. My 16-year car was having tons of trouble. Jerry was so kind: he walked me through what was wrong with my car, and informed me what needed to be done to fix it. Since that first visit I've used All Tech Auto for every car repair including fixing my brakes, heat repair, and fixing wiring in my car. When Jerry and his guys can't complete the task, Jerry had recommended me out to other establishments that have also done a great job Jerry is an awesome guy. Responsive and fast. All of a sudden my car was lurching along, having trouble getting into first gear. Drove it into Firestone (right near All Tech) on a Friday afternoon, and they said they wouldn't have a tech in until Monday. What?!? Enter a Yelp search, and damn, All Tech nearby for the win. Both my cars are about 10 years old and I finally reached the point when going to the dealers for repairs was not the best option. A couple of times the dealer quoted me ridiculous amounts for things they said I needed to repair. So I searched for an alternative and I stumbled on great reviews for All Tech. A few times I brought both my cars to Jerry because of high cost "problems" the dealers had identified. Jerry took a look (for free) and assured me that they were not fixes that needed to be done. The one time that he did actually confirm an issue with my power steering leak in my GMC, I felt confident that he would be the best place to get it fixed. Not only did he quote me a price way less than my dealer, but he got it done in the time promised and for the quoted price despite the problem being a little more tricky and time consuming to fix! Jerry deserves all five of these stars (and more). My goodness, I've never felt so in the loop and comfortable with a mechanic. He took photos, video, walked me thoroughly through everything they'd done, had to do, and did just because it made my vehicle safer. Jerry saved the cracked fuel pump to show me the damage. He drove my car after fixing the fuel pump, and noticed one brake was scraping after I had just had them newly installed (elsewhere) only weeks ago. I had a broken shoe and missing spring, something the other mechanic not only didn't even tell me about, but put my brand new brakes and rotors over, essentially causing damage every time I braked. I could gush on and on about this guy, but seriously, if you ever need anything done to your car, GO HERE. If it's out of your way, go there anyway. I hugged a mechanic, twice, and it was this guy. So honest and genuine, and as a woman without a lot of car knowledge, it's an experience I never thought I'd have. We have been bringing our hand-me-down cars to him for 10 years now, and we have NEVER been disappointed. Don't let the unpolished appearance of the shop fool you, the service you receive at All-Tech is better than ANY I have experienced elsewhere. Jerry is kind, courteous, and explains the auto issues in detail. He understands and diagnoses car problems so well that I literally call him the car doctor! Also, I have always felt like I was a priority as a customer. As for a recent experience, our car died this week and so we pushed it to the nearest mechanic. At this other mechanic we were quoted $800 to replace the battery and alternator. After hearing this I immediately called Jerry, and he told me that something didn't add up. So I brought my car to him. Turns out it was not the alternator at all. Jerry fixed our car and we saved $550! This is not an exception either. Time and time again Jerry has come in way under competitors prices because he and the team are so smart and because they take the time to understand the real problem. Jerry was super busy but because I had what seemed like a very serious (and inconvenient) issue (I couldn't reverse which meant parking in Chicago was almost impossible) he invited me to come in so he could check out my 2005 Chevy Malibu. He diagnosed and fixed the issue immediately - there was simply a missing bolt from getting a part replaced at Jiffy Lube - apparently they didn't tighten the bolts properly. He put in a placeholder bolt that he had and advised me on getting the actual part - the tire caliper - replaced under warranty at the Jiffy Lube I had been to since it had been damaged after the bolt fell out. He didn't charge me for his time (or the bolt) and even invited me back to get it checked out after Jiffy Lube replaces the part. I don't expect free service or suggest that you will get free service - but Jerry was very kind to go out of his way to help me out in my hour of need and I got a very positive vibe from him and his shop. I've been driving for 15 years, I've been to dealerships and shops both in Chicago and California, and I've never been satisfied with or trusting of the service ANYWHERE! I've even had small freebie repairs done before at different shops, but because of the level of service, the positive and genuine vibe I got, and the other 5-star reviews on Yelp, I feel comfortable and confident committing to take my car to All Tech from here on out for anything I ever need. Jerry is the MAN!! If I could give him 100 stars I would. I brought my truck to him after numerous mechanics could not figure out the reason for the check engine light to be on. After spending hundreds of dollars and still experiencing the same problem I finally found this place and was impressed with all the great reviews. I decided to give this place a try before I set the truck on fire (just joking). Well, what more should I say, because it is already said by other 2 reviewers on yelp. Jerry is such a gentleman! Yes really. I have had problem with my honda accord dash lights and I emailed them for that. First I thought no auto shop cares for email queries, however, Jerry responded to my emails quickly. Best thing is this shop is open on Saturday! Isn't it great? you don't have to take off from work assuming you have holiday on Saturday though ;) They keep their promises. He promised they wont charge for checking fuses.So I visited them on a Saturday. Jerry had someone check fuses quickly. Problem wasn't there. They offered to do more than that. They checked not only fuses, but took the whole instrument cluster apart , checked bulbs also. Unfortunately bulb wasn't the problem also so they did get another insturment cluster and tried on my car and finally found out exact problem that the cluster itself in my car is going bad. Jerry showed me the problem and suggested options that I can go with. I did offer to pay for this work, however as promised Jerry did not charge anything. Neither did he force me any repairs at that time. He was okay with me taking time to rethink about the replacement of cluster. I have some budget issues so I am keeping this repair pending. However, when I do this, it will be all tech automotive. Other than this, staff is friendly. I don't care if I don't get coffee like in Honda dealers or other popular shops, all I care about people who are honest and can repair my car within my budget. Based on previous reviews, I took my car to All Tech. I have taken my 1999 Lexus here twice, and have been more than pleased with the work. Quotes are accurate and lower than dealship. The details of the last repair were EXPLAINED extensively, and photos were taken as they were doing the repair (which included practically taking then engine apart). I recently went there for an estimate on a repair and was told since it was exhaust related, I had time to put it off until it was time to renew my the license plates...who does that?!!!! My 2004 Cavalier had a hiccup with gauge cluster, needles stopped working after placing an aftermarket face plate on it, oops. Was going to take to my Cav to Mike Anderson Chevy, but yelp reviews scared me away. I found this place, thanks yelp, made an appointment. Jerry told me all I needed was replacement needles & he would fix it for me. Did as instructed and the needles on my gauge cluster works like new & all for a very reasonable price, less than $100. I actually was referred to All Tech from another top rated yelp repair place. Our check engine light had been on and the car was running very rough. We were dreading the impending cost and solving the mystery of what it could be. I called 5 other places and they all wanted to charge $90 just to hook our car up to a diagnostic computer, then whatever it costs to repair it once it is diagnosed. Jerry, at All Tech said there was no charge for the diagnostic so I brought it in. After about 5 minutes, he called me over and showed me that the last auto repair shop did not properly attach the spark plugs and that was what was causing the misfiring. The car had only been running on 5 cylinders. He would not let me pay him anything and I was so grateful for his can do attitude, quick immediate attention and of course complimentary lesson/repair. There is a reason why this place has nothing but 5 star reviews. My only regret is the many thousands of dollars I could have saved if I'd found out about this place a decade ago. As many have mentioned, the owner's name is Jerry, and I can't say enough about how wonderful he is. We've all been through the shifty-eyed, mumbly auto mechanic routine - they are rarely forthcoming with information, often dishonest, and usually have zero people skills. Jerry, on the other hand, is the most friendly, genuine and knowledgeable mechanic I have met. He will take the time to walk you through a given issue, explain the options, and even show you the part and explain what went wrong. Jerry also answers the phone personally, which I imagine he has to do a thousand times a day, and is always swift with an answer as to what is going on. They are incredibly responsive and anytime I've dropped my car off, have called within hours (if not sooner!) to let me know what the problem was. I have taken my car here about a dozen times and in all but one instance, gotten it back within a day at a much lower price than I expected. One time Jerry fixed the problem in less than 15 minutes (something had come detached) and sent us off with no charge. Even when I paid a lot of money to fix a large issue with an older car, I did it with a smile because I knew the work would be top notch, that I was getting the best price, and that any future issues would be covered.
