I had to have my regular annual mole check and had some other annoying skins issues, so I decided…read moreto try someone close to work. I made called to make an appointment and got in two days later, so I thought, "Great!" But maybe there's a reason I was able to get in so soon. First, got there 5 minutes before my appointment and filled out all the necessary paperwork. They kept me in the waiting room for about 20 minutes - which is fine, I always expect a wait. They finally called me into an examination room. I waited there for over 50 minutes! Seriously, no magazine, no newspaper, nothing! Just me, the table, and my quickly dissovling patience. So after all that waiting, and me getting seriously cranky now, she finally comes in. Doesn't apologize that she has now made me wait an hour + after my scheduled appointment. I try to relax and figure, hey, maybe she's really thorough and just got caught up with another patient. She askes me a few questions, tells me to take off my top (I have LOTS of moles) and does what seems to be a pretty good inspection. However, there is one particular mole that every previous dermatologist has always "tsked tsked" about and she just kinda looked at it and passed over it. (I have had it forever so I know it's not a real issue, but it looks funny enough for all other drs. to take pause - why not her?) She instead concentrated on my scalp. (really?) She never even saw my legs, even though I told her I had moles there too. She just asked if they had changed. I told her I didn't think so but I have so many, it's hard to keep track of all of them. Don't you think she would have checked those out too? Then she told me I have a few questionable moles in other areas. I waited to see what she would recommend and ... nothing. Absolutely nothing. I asked should they be removed.. she looked at me like I was crazy to ask her this question. She gave me the ABC's of mole checking on my own and said if I see changes, to come back. I asked about my other pesky problems and got similar non-advice. I walked out with nothing but a wasted 2 hours. Seriously... I'm considering going to another dermatologist just for peace of mind. She's definitely an odd cookie. She seems nice enough, but her focus is so strange - my scalp? And her dismissing the mole all other doctors loved to hate was very concerning. Plus, she can't look you in the eye for some reason. Then at the end of the appointment, she sits there typing away and I'm sitting there like, are we finished? I guess we are.

So organized and detailed and if Dr Farag sees something he does an ultra sound right there and discusses the results with you right after and make a plan. I see so many recent reviews griping about the fee. Have you looked at your insurance bills with other providers after finding a potential problem. I bet you will find the fee to be the same after you pay for co-pays, parking and all the additional fees. Or instead you can go to Northwestern where they tack on fees left and right and make you wait for weeks for your results and then multiple appointments later plus the stress of waiting and you've already likely paid the $390 anyway in co-pays and fees cause insurance is BS. I started at NW and had months of stress and appointments. Never again. The piece of mind is worth every penny. Do it. Trust me.

The nurse or staff member who took my blood and tb test was on the phone complaining to her mom about personal issues while sticking needles in my arm!!!. Needless to say she winds up pricking herself with my used needle while on the phone which in turn opened a can of worms. She goes on to ask me to sign consent to be tested for HIV as part of the protocol for wellness which i understand and obliged. However, when a few medical students came in she started ranting to them about how she has to be tested and how she's so afraid. They continue to joke about her possibly having that "backpack" and how they are so worried for her. Meanwhile I'm sitting in the next room feeling exceedingly embarrassed, dehumanized, and dirty all because she wasn't doing her job efficiently. As someone who has worked in the medical field for years I'm sure that this is a HIPAA violation of patient privacy. I mean the entire office knew what happened by the time I left. Thanks for making me feel like shit.

Dr. Cruzat is really excellent for patients in the area, though read the last paragraph for my…read morecaveat. This is especially true because her excellent, multi-lingual office staff will schedule you to fit in and appointment THAT DAY, or at worst, the next day if you're having an urgent issue. I can't stress enough how awesome this is. I was able to avoid paying extra money for the emergency room because she was able to go out of her way to make an appointment with a specialist who could rule out a true cardiac emergency when my heart rate and BP were extremely low and I was having dizzy spells and called her. I no longer live nearby but I have kept her as my doctor because of these factors and the fact that it's a hassle to change my Primary Care doc. I think the reason another poster said there is often a wait is partly due to the fact that they schedule patients pretty tightly so they can see you as soon as possible, AND she spends a really good amount of time listening to patients, even when a med student does the initial assessment she will take time to really understand what's happening. So that "wait-time" complaint is actually a benefit to whichever patient she's with at the moment, which will eventually be you! The only reason she doesn't get 5 stars from me: I think if you are offended by Christian sentiments (posters, little daily meditation books in the waiting room) she might not be the very best doctor for you. You might be put off by some of her priorities (for example, the friendly advice, You-should-marry-him-already and don't-you-want-a-baby? kind of thing - granted this is after I've been seeing her for 8 years and she knows me well, and I'm paraphrasing). ON the other hand, she really is a very intelligent, kind, attentive, careful doctor and the advantages vastly outweigh the disadvantage of my having to fend off her desire for me to put a ring on it and get preggo.
