I only stopped in briefly to look for a super specific item, but I was impressed with the cleanliness, organization and selection of quality items in the store. Truly, nothing is out of place. This non-chain local pet stores carries everything from dog and cat supplies to fish and small pet items and even some in-between things. For a big city, I thought the prices actually seemed quite fair. If you can't find it here, you can't find it anywhere. The store is small but the amount of items in it is truly impressive. The owner has really maximized their space. I also watched an employee, or maybe even the owner, eloquently diffuse an awkward situation with a rude customer. He was kind and listened thoughtfully. To me, that says a lot about this business.

This is a great pet store. I used to work down the street and would always go here to get my dog food and toys. I don't get to go here often anymore, but anytime I am on South street I stop by to get a toy or two for my dog. The staff is friendly and this is a local business that's been around for a long time. It's important to support local businesses, and this is a great one.

Well-stocked and convenient. We love the grain-free cheddar cheese crackers for our dog!

Very nice little pet store on South St. They are very sweet to my dog and introduced her to her new favorite food.

Accent on Animals may not be as high quality as Chic Petique or Bone Jour, but it certainly is a lot better than Doggie Style.

I hate going to the big chain stores because they seem so impersonal, but was afraid a local store had higher prices...

She celebrated six years this past Sunday, and I knew a special treat at Salty Paws was on the menu. We arrived around noon and were the only friends in the building. Staff is super courteous and helpful, especially for having to deal with wild pooches all day. I went with two cookies (they have digits for birthday celebrations) and a small Philly Cheesesteak flavored ice cream. They put it into a doggy bowl and Fred, refusing to get up onto the chair, opted to enjoy her birthday treat on the floor. This is a great spot to make your dog feel especially loved and special. I won't even discuss prices because I am pretty sure I would pay just about any price to help Fred feel like the queen she is on her special day. Hoping to celebrate 40 more birthdays with Fred at Salty Paws (LOL), and grateful for this gem in the neighborhood!

I let about a month go by before I called for an update. Got the run around for a few weeks. The lady that answers the phone could never give me details. She was very nice, but not very helpful. The guy that does the cages only returned calls one or two of my calls. I think it was around the two month mark that they finally told me the glass was back ordered. They busted the timeline they gave me for delivery a second time. Then I had to call several additional times over numerous days. Just over 10 weeks after I paid for the cage it was delivered. Look, I get supply chain issue, but the fact that they didn't keep me informed or respond to my questions is just bad business. Especially, when I'm paying more to buy local. Now lets talk about the "mounting supplies." The light was very mountable. You don't even have to be a professional. He used Command Adhesive Strips. Target has them listed for 10 bucks. I paid $648 for the cage. Part of that was to mount the light fixture which I gave them when I placed the order . They were very aware of what they needed to mount and had 10 weeks to do it right. They didn't. The strips didn't hold and the lamp fell. Fortunately, I was home otherwise the snake could have been injured. After that, I spent about 20 minutes googling the proper mounting hardware and found it from Zoomed for 5 bucks. Shipping only took about a week. Install took about 3 minutes. Yelp won't let me post a link, but you can find it if you look. As far as being happy, I'm not. I made that very clear during ALL my phone calls. I was polite during delivery. Maybe he mistook that for happy. I did not state was would buy another. I won't be. The cage is fine, but nothing special.

I located the groomer, Sarah on Instagram and her contact info was listed in her bio, so I called in to get an appointment. The earliest available appointment was 2 months out , so I snagged it up. Upon entering, Doggy Style Pets gives all the warm and fuzzies for dog parents. There was a large variety of toys and treats. Me and my dog were greeted right away, I signed the typical first time visitor waiver for grooming services and then in a few moments was introduced to the groomer. Sarah was friendly and we briefly talked through my hopes from the appointment. She did disclose ( and I already knew) that my dog had a ton of matting in hard to reach areas, so she'd do her best to keep what hair she could while keeping my dogs health in mind. The grooming took about 2hrs and I received a call when my pup was ready to be picked up. Overall DSP were polite and friendly, and I'd likely return from regular grooming upkeep. Services received: Full Groom & dematting Includes: Full Haircut, Bath 'n Brush Service, Sanitary Paw/Pad Trim, Nail Trim & Ear Cleaning Price: $95

I like looking at all the cool clothes and treats. They are more pricey that your big box pet suppliers but, the experience is much more pleasant and the stock is much more varied and interesting. Pet people are also more apt to drop some cash for our babies. Best of all, there are usually pets for adoption. This is a wonderful thing for these shops to do as a service to pets that would possibly be destroyed and to the communities where these stores are located. Bravo!
