I came to see Ara at Accelerated PT after undergoing surgery for a full Achilles rupture in my left leg. Ara and his staff do a great job of customizing rehabs for each patient and also are friendly, down to earth, people. They do a great job of explaining the exercises and provide the proper instruction to make sure your time isn't wasted while you're there. Rehab is obviously a speed bump in your day, but Ara is flexible and will even call you to let you know if there is a cancellation in case you want to come in earlier. Everyone told me to make sure I do my rehab and not dog any part of it or i could end up limping for the rest of my life. I am currently seeing him for "frozen toe" of my big toe after bunion surgery. With Ara the treatment has been a success. From what I've read this issue is hard to cure, possibly permanent, but at Accelerated PT. It took some time, but my toe has very noticeably improved and my range of motion is coming back when initially my toe was stiff as an iron rod. Of all my ROM (range of motion) issues I've had to date this has been worst. Honestly, I'm surprised how much Ara has improved my foot. I am happy I came here. Ara's treatments are in the style of small group personal training. He has 3 benches inside his office. In addition a couple people may be outside doing some stretching, icing, or routine exercises with a PT student. If you value privacy over whatever problem is ailing you then by all means don't go to Ara. However know that you'll be missing out on some of the best treatment you can get. His walls say it all (many thanks from professional athletes/entertainers up there). He will attend to other patients but he will get to you and work on your injury personally when it is you turn. He will attend to all of your questions / concerns if you need a little more time. He has never once rushed me out of his office, as other PTs will to keep their tight 1 on 1 schedules. I highly recommend this therapist and the location. Ara is very knowledgable, and an excellent professional, his treatment completely cured my frozen shoulder! When I started I'd had very limited movement in my left shoulder, he completely healed it after after a series of productive therapy sessions, and even taught me how to prevent it in the future via some simple exercises. My rehab at Accelerated Physical Therapy located in the Cambridge Athletic Club was a great experience. I recently had a torn meniscus surgery and was in need of rehab located in the Kendall Square area (since I work in the area and wanted something conveniently located). Ara and his staff were friendly and attentive to the patient. I could tell Ara had a lot of experience and knew what he was doing. Unfortunately this was my third torn meniscus surgery and third round of rehab in the past few years. Out of all my rehab experiences this was by far the quickest recovery. It's interesting that even though you are denying everything in block here (you think are are perfect), you called me after I complained to my referring doctor and apologized for your behavior and offered me a free consultation that I promptly refused. You are a lying scumbag. I had a terrible experience there and so have 2 friends I talked to about my experience. I will ask them to write reviews! Original post: I went to see Ara's for a knee pain. I was highly disappointed and irritated by him. First, his office is a circus: there are loads of people going in and out all the time so it is very hard to have private time with him. Secondly, he had 5 patients in his room at the SAME TIME which I think it utterly unaceptable. If I go to see him, I want private time, especially for the 50 dollars I have to pay for his hour of visit. Secondly, instead of focusing on me, he passed me off to one of his student-assistant who was way too arrogant and did not spend any time asking me what was wrong with my knee. Ara then prescibed me generic exercises that I could have found online and asked his assistant to teach the exercises to me. The assistant proceeded to stand next to me looking at his cell phone without giving me direction. Then Ara came to check on my (nearly 40 mins later) and saw that I was doing some exercises wrong. He asked his assistant why I was doing it wrong to which is assistant had the guts to tell me it was because I WAS NOT LISTENING TO ME. To which I argued was not the case but I am convinced Ara did not believe me. Finally, he took 10 mins to look at me. I tried asking him questions about what was going on with my knee. Instead of actively listening, he looked frustrated and impatient and made me feel like I was waisting his time. I highly do not recommend anybody going to him. I did not go a second time and called him to complain about his poor service to which he apologize explaining that it was just a busy day. - his fault for overscheduling. Anecdotally, I talked about him to a friend who told me that he went to Ara for 4-5 times for his ankle and the 5th time, Ara asked him which ankle was wrong: he had forgotten!!! I would recommend anyone with lower extremity injuries to Ara. I've been to him three times now, and been able to bounce back to Triathlon each time. The most recent injury was Achilles tendonitis. I was worried because I've hear bad things about how long that injury takes to recover. The ultrasound and Graston worked wonders! I went through with the exercises and was able to gauge my recover every week. After most appointments, I could noticeable tell improvement. I've found that Ara is best when you're very vocal about your injury, recovery, and treatments. Injuries are a confusing thing and having an open discussion about my injury helped to make sure we (patient and practitioner) go about the recovery in the best way possible. Ara is the man. I had a torn acl and Ara worked with me through the reconstruction and rehabilitation. I had some complications with my reconstruction, and Ara spent tons of extra time working with me on extra long sessions to try to get me back on track. My surgeon even commented that he was confident in the care I was getting because Ara was such a veteran pt. The set up of accelerated physical therapy is different than others places I've been, with everyone in one room. It seemed chaotic at first, but it meant no one was sent home because their hour was up and everyone got all the work they needed on each session. I highly recommend Ara if you're injured and trying to get back to sports. read more

I hurt my shoulder doing CrossFit, and Accelerated Physical Therapy was the closest to me, so I picked the place based on convenience. My shoulder had been injured for 5months, I couldn't feel my thumb and index finger, and it hurt to turn my head, so by the time I went to see him, I was pretty worried that I had permanently damaged my shoulder. I loved the atmosphere of the place, and I loved the overall friendliness of Ara, the owner of the practice. I liked the personableness of everyone there. Most importantly, Ara fixed my shoulder pain. He did something called the Graston technique, then did something that involved electrical stimulation, and also gave my shoulder an ultrasound. There were also basic exercises which his interns gave me instruction on. I'm not sure if it was the combination of all these procedures or if it was one specific procedures that resulted in my shoulder being fixed, but after the first session, I felt much better, and by the 6 session, I was 90% pain free. I feel bad about the negative reviewer who posted that they wouldn't recommend anyone seeing Ara. I feel that Ara is an extremely knowledgable PT who really knows how the body functions, and I've already recommended him to some of my friends. I injured my thigh while warming up for a soccer game back in June. I was hoping that the one week gap between games would be enough recovery time, but it wasn't. I knew that I needed to get help or I'd have to quit my league for the season. The Cambridge Athletic Club location is down the street from where I work, so I thought I'd give it a try. When I showed up at the gym and asked to see Ara, I was directed to a door that led to a racquetball court with several massage/therapy tables, three or four other patients and the physical therapy staff. It was a bit chaotic and, as noted in other reviews, there wasn't any privacy, but everyone was friendly and the staff were efficient and helpful. Ara spoke with me briefly and then handed me off to one of the other therapists for ultrasound treatment. When that was finished, Ara used (administered?) the Graston technique on my thigh and then I switched off to another therapist for stretches and exercises. When I was wrapping up, Ara recommended a thigh compression sleeve and said that when I came for my second appointment I could try out a medical-grade one. I ended up ordering a consumer-grade one so that I'd be sure to have it before my next game. After my second visit, which was pretty similar to the first, I was able to play without any issues. tl;dr I'm not sure if any of the individual aspects (treatments, stretches/exercises, or thigh sleeve) were what did the trick, but the three together have allowed me to play several games, including one last night in which my team had no subs and I had to play the entire time. read more

I was referred to Accelerated P.T. by a friend following a wrist injury. Ara was my physical therapist and he immediately knew what area to target my pain. It became clear that he's dealt with athletes in the past...because he was focused on getting me back to my regular workouts. My wrist has improved greatly...and I'm almost pain free. With just 3 weeks to go before my first marathon this spring, I experienced some undiagnosed left knee pain (overuse) and was referred to Ara for physical therapy. Ara and his team were able to see me twice a week and provide accelerated treatment (a combination of exercises, Graston technique, and ultrasound) that allowed me to run the race pain-free. I saw Ara and his team for a knee injury and we weren't yet sure if it was a torn meniscus or something to do with my ITBand. Not having much to go off of, just trying to relieve the pain until I got through physical training for work, Ara and his team made PT sessions that worked on both potential injuries. Not only do they do a great job at their jobs, they are also so so nice and personable. I also absolutely love the way the sessions are run. With my job I have very limited availability but they have all their employees work with every patient, which is great! If one employees style doesn't work for you, you have about 3 other people there working with you too. Also, I love that if you need it they will sit there with you and watch every single exercise you do but if you don't need it they help other patients but continue to check in on you and when you finish that specific exercise, they do the same thing all over again. Such a unique yet amazing way to run a PT center. So beyond impressed with Ara and his staff. Highly highly recommend! read more

I was referred to Ara after suffering a dislocated shoulder while skiing. Ara and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and I'm pleased with my recovery. As others have noted, Ara runs his practice in small groups of patients doing rehab in parallel, so if absolute privacy and persistent one-on-one attention are your priorities, you might consider other options. Personally, I found the more open atmosphere to be helpful during recovery; it provides an opportunity to meet new people. read more
