I hate giving negative reviews. It's this thing that I really don't like, but have to push myself to do when something is warranted. The fact that the 3 people who showed up at my house to clean it today were super friendly does not make this any easier. Let's start from the top:
ACC Cleaning had a Groupon out, and for the price I thought "Awesome!" I did notice there's only 1 other Yelp review, and that made me a little nervous. I decided to give them a call on the number recommended by Groupon. I was greeted by a gruff, sleep voice repeating, "Hello? Hello?" as if I'd just woken someone not expecting a phone call. Naturally, I assumed it was a wrong number, because what professional service answers their phones that way? I said "Sorry! Wrong number!" and hung up. Then I called the Yelp business number listed for the service, and was directed to a general Google voice message box. That kind of scared me. I was unable to reach the business I just paid for services to (via Groupon).
A short while later, ol' gruff-voice calls me and asks if I was trying to get a cleaning via Groupon, and tells me to book it myself on their site. I do this. The site indicates that you'll get a confirmation, I never got one. I waited 4 days, and finally (the day before the cleaning I requested) emailed the company, and instead of emailing a response (I was really hoping for things in writing at this point) I got a call from Gruffy with the same level of professionalism I had previously come to know from the guy. (He also mentioned that 'we spoke yesterday,' and we had indeed not spoken yesterday.)
I asked when the cleaning would take place, and he said between 2 and 5PM. I agreed and started my Wednesday like any other - half naked, drinking vodka on the couch watching Netflix. In my near-nuditity at about 12:20PM (note, this is not anywhere near between 2-5PM) a gaggle of housecleaners walk past my wide-open window (my bad) and bang on the door. Pretty embarrassing. I have to make them hold as I put on a bra and zip up my jacket. They let met know they were scheduled to come between 12-1. Would've been nice for me to know that.
The cleaning overall was okay. I am half-tempted to take a picture of the cat litter strewn on the floor that they failed to vacuum up, and I won't lie, it's a little perturbing. Everything else though, is great. They even unclogged a sink! The people were chatty and smiley and wonderful. I think the employees deserve to possibly work for a company that cares as much as they seem to, minus the vacuum thing. read more
