Came here with my mother for lunch and we were finally able to sit down to eat instead of carrying out. The food is always great here and we left satisfied. I ALWAYS order the Fried Catfish when I come and this day was no different! For my sides, I ordered Fries and Side Salad (ranch). The fish was fried to perfection and very good! It came with 5 pieces and I had leftovers to eat later (which tasted better it seem). They give you complimentary Chips/Salsa and the salsa was flavorful, not spicy. The portion sizes are big and worth the money! The customer service was good and we had no issues there. I will DEFINITELY come back like I always do! read more

Dropping by for Friday catfish was a regular thing for my family. The five piece catfish dinner included: five large pieces of fish, large fries, two onion rings, three hush puppies and chicken salad with lettuce, chunks of tomato, and cheese. Oops that was pre COVID 19 crisis. This is was I received on takeout post crisis: five piece dinner (three medium and two small pieces of catfish), small fries, two small onion rings and a salad with lettuce and tiny chucks of tomato, cheese. Oh I found out .... this is just a pick up, take out issue. The food tasted great, but portion size depends on if you sit down in restaurant to eat. My mom visited enjoyed five large pieces of fish. My solution: sit down, order your food, then ask for ToGo boxes! See ya! read more

Twenty-one years ago, a DeSoto restaurant in midtown opened that offered breakfast all day and had an American and Mexican menu. It caused something of a stampede as I remember. There really were so few places to sit down and have a real meal. The dining landscape has changed. It's still not diverse in DeSoto; but there are numerous franchise restaurants and a gaggle of fast food and take out places. There's also Cedar Hill's rapid expansion just down the road. Through it all, Acapulco's Ameri-Mex has welcomed in and served the community. The Lion's Club meets there. Acapulco's serves a free Thanksgiving luncheon meal to all comers and a free Veteran's Day meal to the military. The menu and specials have changed over the years; but one thing has remained the same. The salsa. Big plastic pitchers of fairly fiery salsa, cold from the refrigerator, lands on your table with chips. There are tiny porcelain bowls on the table and I start eating before I know what I want. Over the years I have moved away from the Mexican side of the menu to the Ameri side and to their catfish. They have surprisingly good catfish. I'm not the only one who thinks so. It comes in dinner or sandwich form and the sandwich is big and a bargain. Their inexpensive breakfasts are legendary, of course, and they do a very big business. They will definitely get your eggs and bacon the way you want them here. Almost everything is good on their Daily Specials. Selections change daily and are modest prices. You can get bottomless salsa with that, too. You can get it with most anything. Except a cup of coffee, maybe. read more

Acapulco Restaurant - My husband's giant omelette and hash browns. With salsa. - Mexican Near Me - Desoto, Texas

I'm wondering if this restaurant has changed owners. I've been going to this restaurant for more than 20 years. I have never had a bad experience until today. The food was terrible. It had sat under heat lamp so long both of our lunches were not even worth eating. And the service which is always been stellar was terrible. I hope they get it together. It's always been a great space with good food and good service, but today makes me think it'll be quite a while before I want to go back there read more

Wonderful food! My favorite is the catfish! My friend drives from north Dallas to eat catfish, believe it or not! Great staff and food! I can't say enough about this place. Not fancy but that does not matter once you have eaten there. read more

The food is fine, nothing I'd go crazy over but not bad either. The biscuits are as soft and delicious as they look but the gravy tastes as from a can as it looks too. Everything is kind of like that-hit or miss. It's definitely dirty diner food-big portions, nothing super fresh. I have had breakfast there once and dinner there 3 times. Mexican food is the best bet, the burgers and cheese fries were not worth the money, actually threw all of it away. Oh and the only reason I've been here more than once is because my boyfriend likes it and it's close. I do enjoy there hash browns and fries. My biggest issue about it is it's dusty, not very clean which kind of grosses me out. Servers are great except one older lady in the morning. Parking is ample. read more

I have been eating here for the last 10 years the last time I will ever step food in any of there restaurants. My service was horrible. The food was cold and it was wrong. I ordered the special 6.99 got the bill it was 10.99 ask why they tell me it because I had french fries and a salad. Well I didn't get my salad. And I was not told said sorry your server should have told you. The lady at the register was rude I asked her nothing she could do. I told her I was not going to pay the 10.99 she said she would call the police. "That eat there all the time " she told me. I said I don't need the the pain so I was going to pay and be done. She than told me the CC machine was not working and I would have to pay cash. Didn't have 60.00 cash on me. So I asked my wife. And when. I paid hershe through my change back at me. This was a very average mexican restaurant. The menu had a wide range of selections with breakfast options too. Also there were lunch and daily specials available. I had the fajita taco special and it was about $2 cheaper than regular price. I was satisfied with the portion size and the price. I may revisit to try another entree. My one small gripe is with the salsa. A large jug of salsa was placed on the table with 2 small bowls for us to pour ourselves. 100% of the restaurant I have been to, the waiter/waitress served the salsa and chips. Of course I am more than capable of pouring the salsa myself, but a small part of going out to eat is for the service. Am I providing a tip to serve myself or deducting a portion of the tip for self service? I don't know. I do know a tip is given for the appreciation of good service. Anyway this is a place to check out mexican food at a reasonable price. read more

Very sad that this business is clearly taking advantage of the COVID situation by advising they are only seating 50 percent capacity but charging $.35 per to fo package! Yes the styrofoam plates you receive with your food served for to go orders cost $.33 each! I didn't enjoy my food tonight and it was my first try. I will not be back. read more

Mi restaurante favorita en el pueblo. Especialmente el picadillo con arroz y frijoles.

What a hidden gem! I've passed this place for years and always gave it a bit of side-eye telling myself that I needed to check it out one day. I just figured it was just one more Tex-Mex hole in the wall, but boy was I wrong. Thanks to my Mom inviting me out to breakfast, I would still be ignorant to the deliciousness of their ham steak, over easy eggs, homestyle potatoes, and their two fluffy biscuits with gravy. It was seriously delicious with prices that you can't beat. This is old school, diner/dive living at it's finest. read more

While out doing a little shopping we decided to stop here because the food is good, with a good price to go along with it. I've had several dishes here in the past, and settled on beef enchiladas today. They were okay, but I've had better. The downside to the enchiladas is the chili sauce they put on top. Another diner that accompanied me, had the fried shrimp plate. Now that was good. The next time I go, that'll be what I order. They do have awesome breakfast selection, but the home fried potatoes are my fav. read more

Just a nice little, no-frills TexMex spot deep in the heart of DeSoto. The fear is pretty standard stuff. A lot of enchiladas, tacos, and assorted Mexican style favorites. The prices are cheap, and the Decor is not flashy. But that is part of the charm. If you're looking for a pretty decent Mexican style meal in DeSoto, this is a place that you want to try. read more

Right around the corner from me and I never thought to stop. Dropped in this morning for breakfast and it was scrumptious (minus the fact they ran out of grits). I will make a point in checking them out for lunch/dinner. read more

I stopped in at Acapulco Restaurant and ordered a to-go order of a bowl of chili with cornbread and a small order of guacamole. The guacamole was excellent. The "chili" tasted and looked like a mild flavored bowl of barbeque sauce. There was no meat, just a sauce that was nothing like chili should be. For a Mexican restaurant, their chili was awful. The cost was way too expensive for barbeque sauce that was supposed to be a bowl of chili. read more

This was my second visit to this place The wait staff is nice. Food is decent. Not exceptional by any means. Today I ordered fried pork chops and that's exactly what they brought. Battered and deep fried. Never in my life have I ever seen this done. I asked them for some that are not battered. They sent back the same chops with the batter scrapped off. Really? At that point I was done with this place. The server is the only reason this place gets three stars. She was very sweet. read more

Substandard Tex-Mex. Their Menudo was ugly. They need to go back to school and leaen how to make Eggs Over Easy. I went into the bathrrom to wash my hands and the floor was very greasy, that I slipped and slid. I rported it to the Waitress and she said "Meh" read more

Can you say HOT FLUFFY BISCUITS! This place has it all. Excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This jewel offers Tex-Mex and Casual American fare that will knock your socks off, and leave your wallet full. The wait staff makes you feel like family. Stop by and give them a try. read more

Extremely slow in getting our food so we thought our dinners would be piping hot. No. I had the El Paso. The cheese in and on the cheese taco was congealed, barely lukewarm. The guacamole chalupa had dark spots like the guacamole was old and had been stirred to mix the dark in. Like the serve yourself salsa and the warm, light chips. The waitress was nice. But wouldn't go back read more

All the times we could not decide where to go for something good to eat, this place has been just a few blocks away! I'm glad we finally checked it out. The food was sooo good! and the staff were nice and friendly. I ordered a chimichanga dish that was delish! I was curious about their fried catfish so I ordered it to go for my daughter, and it was just right! It's hard to find good fried catfish, but now I can stop looking. I'm looking forward to many more visits and trying out their other dishes. read more

A local gave me this restaurant suggestion for workday lunch. Good old-fashioned hot sauce and chips. Good old-fashioned TexMex cheese enchiladas. Spotted MANY regulars in for lunch as the waitress would automatically bring their drink orders along with the menus. Some would order without a menu look over. Great food for minimal price! read more

Their daily specials are pretty good! A lot of food for a small price.

This place has great tacos and enchiladas. Chips and salsa too. Super lunch specials.

Ordered to go breakfast. Chicken fried steak and eggs, with a side of bacon. Chicken fried steak was very chewy, and soaked heavily in gravy. Was not good at all. Bacon was full of grease, breakfast was a waste of money here. Wouldn't recommend coming back. read more

Nice atmosphere, and they had a soccer game on TV when we stopped in, which was a bonus for me! I had a huge steak chimichanga with beans, rice, and a salad, plus a drink, all for less than ten bucks. There is even free soft serve ice cream for dessert! Nothing extraordinary about the food, but it was good and plenty of it. Our waitress was amazing, so nice and very patient dealing with our very picky friend that we brought along. We will definitely be back. read more

Some of the best breakfast I have eaten. Being on vacation and not knowing the area. I would highly recommend this place

This place has gone downhill. Years ago I loved to go there. Last time I was there the food was bland and the service was horrible. I refilled my tea and two tables near me as the waitress stood there gossiping with another employee. I will never return. And someone seriously needs to take some soap and water the place. read more
