Tired of foraging in the dark, my husband and I ventured out to find food two years ago during a power outage. There were no lights to speak of until we drove up and over the hill on 228th and saw that Canyon Park was electric. We were planning on grabbing dinner at Subway, but chose the torta place instead. Best decision ever. The maradona is our favorite, in addition to the floutas and tacos. Everything is made ala carte, cooked to order, they sell the kind of Coke you had in Mexico, and their green sauce is the best. I especially like that my hubby will order in Spanish and translates for me whatever is playing on the television when we're there. Since he's an Argentine soccer fan, he was especially pleased to find jerseys lining the place the first time we walked in. I absolutely love this place, it reminds me of the mexican food I used to get in Southern California. I've tried their "Street Tacos" and the Carne Asada Burritto. So far, I can't find a better place for authentic fast mexican food. The only thing I would caution you about is if you go at Noon during the work week plan to wait about a 1/2 hour for your food because they are BUSY!!!! read more

I cannot say that I am overly fond of Mexican food. I mean how good can it be if they cannot even get the beans ready in one setting but have to refry them several times before serving? Forget about all that when you enter Aca las Tortas. Nestled in a little strip mall behind Applebees, it is unique in many ways. For once, this place is all about soccer. The walls are covered in posters of your favorite stars and teams no matter where you are coming from. The TV is tuned to soccer. Sure it is Spanish but who cares. There is nothing better than to catch at lunch time a bit of Champions League action. Aca las Tortas has done some remodeling over the years. I am quite impressed by the high-quality oversize wall menu that makes you salivate while you ponder your choice. I am still stuck on the sandwiches whereby Hugo Sanchez is my particular favorite. Eggs, Pork franks and sausage on those fantastic buns are a heavenly combination! My co-worker is a taco fan while another likes to try more exotic choices like some of the cactus dishes. If this endorsement isn't enough then the fact that the Mexican crowd likes to come in on a regular basis should be all you need to know. read more

I love the food here. I've never had a bad dish. Burritos, tacos, the ones with the names I can't pronounce but still try, and of course the many variations of tortas they sell. I once made it my mission to try one type of everything here and I wasn't disappointed, even without knowing what exactly I was ordering. My mouth watered a bit just thinking about it. The people who serve/cook/cashier are always very nice to me. One con - Don't think beforehand you can snap up a quick burrito a la Taco Del Mar. The food always takes a bit of time to be prepared. I love this place. I rarely order anything but the tacos which are superb, but occasionally I try something different like the posole and burrito variations and am always very happy with the results. The three sauces for the tacos are a perfect companion, they are very flavorful and lend complimentary flavors to each of the meats. Glass bottles of Mexican Coke don't hurt either. read more

As a mexican food fan and a massive soccer fan this place was basically designed just for me :) Once you enter all the walls are decorated with Mexican and La Liga players pictures and really cool World Cup pictures/art work. They seem to always have a soccer game on TV as well. The Torta sandwiches were so incredibly tasty and they are also, what do you know, named after different teams and players! I got the Monterrey, as much as I hate to order it as an MLS supporter. It was delicious and the salsas that came with it were very tasty. The horchata was also very good! The tacos are decent and they have a lot of unique (Mexican) drinks like Guava / Mango / Lime beverages in tall, capped, glass bottles. And yes, there is Mexican Cola as well. The service is quick! Food came out in less than 10 minutes during lunch. What! It's true. They are so nice too :) And so much soccer stufff on the walls. It's like a museum... My chicken and pork tacos were good. The soup, which I don't remember the name of, came out piping hot and with generous amounts of rice in it. So filling. The food is just verging on being too salty so minus 1 star for that. Their tacos are awesome, full of meat, super-fresh tortillas, lots of choices of fillings and great sauces to top your tacos. My favorite is the carnitas. The combo that comes with tacos and soup is great, with a delicious broth-type soup. They also have tortas, burritos and a huge variety of other foods, so if you can't find something to order here, you're not hungry! Everything I've tried here over many visits has always been hot and delicious. If you want authentic Mexican food, you won't find a better place than this. The breakfast burritos as fantastic as well, and the sandwiches (tortas) are the best around. Not Mexican food exactly, but even the French fries are hot and delicious. This place is always our first choice when we want authentic Mexican food, not overpriced gloppy beans and rice. Aca las Tortas is yet another establishment that proves that the best Mexican food in the Seattle area is not in Seattle proper. I'd been wanting to check this place out for some time after discovering it on Yelp, and finally decided to make the journey when I found myself on the east side on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is in a strip mall just off the highway, and there is ample parking. At 4PM on a Saturday--not exactly a conventional mealtime--this place was packed. We got one of the last free tables. Everything on the menu looked appetizing, especially when you put a name to everything other customers were happily devouring. I stayed true to my mission and chose to get a pastor torta. My choice was worth it, because it was a pretty darn delicious torta. I especially liked that the bread wasn't one of those butter rolls that get soggy in 30 seconds. Combine that with the succulent pork, pineapple, cheese and avocado, and you can see why I wolfed it down in record time. Aca las Tortas has a huge range of delicious sandwiches and burritos big enough for any appetite. Their prices are very fair you can walk out with a torta big enough for 2 (ok one and a half) meals, fires and a horchata for around $11. (Pro tip it's actually cheaper to make a torta a combo than it is to order a torta + fries or a torta + drink) The service here is friendly but curt and they usually have a line out the door by 12 so get here early especially on Friday. read more

Their USP is their soccer theme. With hundred of soccer snaps some of which are kodak moments in Soccer (football in rest of the world) history and a TV which plays nothing but soccer, its hard not to fall in love if you are a soccer fan. Their sitting arrangement is one of the worst I have ever seen. Who wants to sit in a bar chair in a mexican restaurant which doesnt serve beer. They have only one table. (Thats why it doesnt get 4 stars) They have got a pretty good variety of different sandwiches. Pretty heavy on pork but you will still find what you want. Every time I've gone here, I typically get the tortas sanwiches. Right when you walk in, you feel the soccer theme. The torta sandwiches are themed by country as well. It's quite small so I typically order to go or don't go with large groups. They take credit cards which is always a plus. It's right next to my favorite pho restaurant, Bamboo house so this place has a special place in my heart as well. I usually get the carne asada with everything on it. The sandwich size is worth the price you pay for it. I typically throw in an horchata as well. The carne asada tacos are also just like how they are in Southern California. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with French fries. The tacos were big and good but to me they lacked the little extras that would have made them great. If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would, but they don't quite deserve a 4. I agree with some of the other Yelpers, the fish tacos here are basically fish sticks and probably not worth getting, but the other meats I tried were quite good. The asada had a nice crust on it and decent flavor and the chorizo was incredibly crispy on the outside and flavorful. Their salsas are also really nice and have great heat. My wife is an avid capsaicin fan and some of the salsa they had (the yellow one in particular) was right up her alley. The tortillas are interesting and have a strong wet corn/masa flavor, sort of like tamales. They're not my favorite tortillas, but they were really interesting. It's slightly above average Mexican fast food for a great price and I'll definitely be back, but I'm in no rush. read more

I visited this place on my lunch hour last week and had such an amazing experience that I came back again just two days later for dinner with a girlfriend. Needless to say this place is honestly some of the BEST authentic Mexican food I've ever had. Tortas seem to be what this place is known for however the other items on the menu seem very appealing. Both times I ordered the shredded pork Huarache. I've eaten huarache's before that have a lot more toppings on them so when I saw how simple this was I had doubts, but this had to be not only the best huarache I've ever had but best tasting Mexican dish. A Huarache is a flat fried masa bread like thing with beans, shredded pork and pickled red onions on top of it. Squirt on their spicy green sauce in the bottle and it is pure heaven and very filling especially for how cheap it is, i think around 7 dollars. My friend ordered the Carne Asada Burrito, I tasted it and the meat was so flavorful! She agreed to much surprise that this was also the best Mexican she'd ever had. As far as customer service goes, I had excellent service both times. My first time a gentleman greeted me and handed me a paper menu as the large menu on the wall can be a bit daunting, he walked over and explained a few of their popular dishes to me and when my food was ready brought it out to me. He also showed me where they have dishes of radishes and jalapenos sitting out. I thought this was a nice touch because I love pickled jalapenos! All in all this was a really fun experience! For people complaining about the atmosphere, the prices match the the theme of the restaurant and casual feel, and it did seem really clean so no complaints there. We use to live in the MillCreek area and frequent this place often. It was amazing! We were on the north end today and wanted to relive our previous good experience. We were disappointed to say the least. We waited for half an hour which isn't unreasonable, as this place is really popular. We decided to take our meal head to the local park. We were given the wrong sandwiches. Bummer! I will give them credit for acknowledging it was their fault and remaking the sandwiches however we were half hour away. We traveled back to the restaurant and waited again for our sandwiches. By this time I am expecting this experience to be the best ever! The result was Our meat was dry and overcooked. Gross. We ordered through UberEATS. I ordered the fish tacos and the rice n beans. Like other Yelpers said before, the fish tacos are completely unseasoned and definitely made with low quality frozen fish sticks. I'm not sure how this kind of quality is considered acceptable by any standards. The rice n beans had an extremely strange smell and before I even tasted them I could tell that the beans were out of a can. The taste was no better than the smell and the salsa that I paid extra for was unable to fix any of the aforementioned problems with either of the items I ordered for myself. One of the fish tacos and three quarters of the rice n beans were thrown away. My boyfriend had the Monterrey torta and said it was seasoned well so that is the reason for the 2 star rating. The almost $3 pico was bland and clearly not fresh. The fries that came with the torta were okay but also unfinished. Maybe it's just the items I ordered or maybe it's just because we chose delivery instead of dining at the restaurant, but this was not authentic and really close to inedible. I went there expecting to get some fish tacos, however, they didn't have any flour tortillas (I'm not a corn tortilla fan at all).
