I expressed concern that we had children and needed a response, one way or another, so we could move on to find a solution urgently. We have two small children and our Saturday was left waiting for them to show up. They never turned up or called back. This is foundational courtesy and basic in business. I would not recommend based on professionalism. Also, they do not have a physical business location on Google Maps. It's just pinned to a random building. So usually means not an established business and more of a bunch of guys in vans taking calls.

I live in the gentrified portion of Newark, right next to Harrison. There are families walking their dogs every other days and events in the park. I live right next to Rutgers and NJIT, and am covered by their campus police forces. I don't buy him feeling unsafe, since Elizabeth has the potential to be as rough as some parts of Newark (which again, I don't live in). Regardless, if he felt unsafe, he could have told us earlier instead of wasting our time and now we have to find another HVAC in the middle of a heat wave. In the middle of executing my plan for a DYI project, I figured out that Home Depot and Lowes does not cut sheet metal for their customers. Yet, I still needed to acquire 2 13x25 inch panels of sheet metal. So, I let Yelp.com point me in the right direction to a business. On my second call, I found Karl at Duct Gauge Heating. He asked me about my aims for the project and I shared that I was hoping that the project wouldn't be too expensive. He was so helpful and knew the exact type of metal that would be magnetic. He offered to cut them from scraps within his shop and, realizing that I needed to pick up the pieces on Saturday, he shared he would leave them just outside his door for me. As planned on Saturday, I found them just outside that door. He delivered two perfectly sized pieces, and when I returned home, I discovered that the pieces fit the frames beautifully. He knows exactly how to "Measure twice & Cut once!" and he was more than fair about the cost to both his business and his customer! These are the makings of a good local business. Unfortunately the damper motor had gone bad and one had to be ordered. Chris found one in inventory and secured it just in time. He came over the next day, prompt and courteous as always, replaced the part, cleaned and completed the repair in no time. Buyer beware! I can…read morenow understand why this company has numerous 5-star reviews. Initially, I had given it a 1-star rating (if I could give zero, I would). However, I was advised to remove my initial review or our project would not be completed. On Father's Day morning, we called this company for an emergency due to issues with our boilers. Initially, we were impressed by their prompt response and diagnostic services. However, working with David and his company turned out to be the worst experience we could have had. David promised us a new HVAC system (water heater and heat pump) within a day or two. This has now turned into three weeks. The communication between us and David was terrible, and he even threatened us. To make matters worse, he left our family in the middle of a heatwave, with a newborn baby! David has said vile things to my family because we asked questions about the work that was supposed to be completed and complained that the service we paid for was not complete. He was angry that we filed a complaint with the financial institution we worked with to get the work done he removed the breaker from the heat pump system and told us that "our children will suffer tonight" ( heat wave in affect and it's over 100 degrees in the home ). His words were so disturbing that they are not allowed anywhere near our property. They also damaged and left a hole in our ceiling. After stating that someone would come to fix it, just like they usually do, no one came, and they didn't even bother to follow up. We had to pay someone else to come and fix it. We took out a loan for a specific system and he promised us that system, yet installed a cheaper lesser system with equally bad customer service. Once the job was reluctantly "finished," our heat pump didn't work, and we had to call in and pay other companies to not only evaluate the work this company did but also fix it. We later found out that the work they did could have resulted in a fire if we had kept the unit running. Not only are they dishonest and take advantage of emergency situations, but they also do horrible work.
