We hired Rene and his crew for two separate issues. We were concerned about some palm and eucalyptus trees on an adjacent property, and Rene furnished us with a detailed report about their conditions and possible risks, which we sent to the owners. In addition, he and his crew removed a large Chinese elm on our property that was too close to the house. In both cases he/they did a beautiful job. They were quick, knowledgeable, efficient, and thorough. We would definitely use them again. Highly recommended. read more

I have/had two very large Hollywood Juniper trees, about 80 years old. Their twisty shape makes them hard to trim, so I always call AC because they do a great job, from start to finish and the trees look great. Sadly, one of the trees turned crispy brown in July, and the other tree looked like it was starting to go. Rene came out and diagnosed wood-boring beetles and spider mites in both trees. He gave me quotes to treat the still living tree, and for removing the dead tree. I know they're not the cheapest tree service, but I trust them and you do get what you pay for. First they treated the living tree with an IV-like insecticide drip into the bark around the base, and then sprayed the foliage. So far, so good. The same crew returned three days later and took down the dead tree, which was up against a block wall on the property line. Heavy branch sections were carefully lowered down with a rope, so there was zero damage to the screen on top of the wall or the brick patio. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. Great job, once again! read more

Rene and the team are AWESOME. Due to the new fire insurance regulations and a denied renewal, I had to have someone come out immediately to get us insurance ready. I called at 6 pm on a Wednesday, Rene was out the next morning (!) and three crews came out 2 biz days later. It was such a relief to work with kind, extremely professional people in a high stress situation. They do excellent work and I cannot recommend highly enough. read more

Used them many times to do my trees. Excellent service, competitive prices. Do a great job cleaning up as well.

Rene, came out and explained how the trimming would proceed, I was really impressed he knew all the names of the trees and the bushes that were to be trimmed. His in-house employees came out on-time, yes you heard it on-time, and did a fabulous job. Once they were done, they asked if I would take a look at their work, to make sure everything was to our liking. I'm very impressed with their professionalism and with the results. I will definitely being using them next year as well. I should have taken before and after pictures to share, but I neglected to do so. It was a huge difference though and now I'm feeling prouder of my front and backyard. read more

A++++ I recently had a 30 ton Pine tree removed from my property. This thing was massive, leaning, top heavy and approximately 5 stories tall. I thought the location of this tree would have presented a challenge as the trunk was located 4-5 feet away from my Gazebo structure. The entire tree was removed with absolutely no damage to surrounding structures. Branch by branch was carefully lowered by a pulley and rope system. The stump was completely removed using a stump grinder machine and the hole was back filled with soil. The end result was like the tree was never there and the soil was left prepped and ready for sod. The work crew was amazing, they were smooth and steady keeping safety a priority. They also removed and replaced a 24 gallon or Arbustos Marina tree (Strawberry tree) in my front yard. The work crew also went above and beyond and straighten out a few ficus trees that were leaning along my property line. The day of the removal, when I saw the size of the crew, the heavy duty equipment, 10 wheeled dump truck, attached heavy duty wood chipper, auxiliary trucks carrying crew and chainsaws... I knew I was in good hands. The entire process of preparation, tree removal, stump removal, cleaning and everything mentioned was completed in 1 day. My Nieghbor was so impressed he decided to have some work done as well. read more

Rene and his team were here for two days. We had three eucalyptus trees removed and then had all the hedges and additional trees trimmed and "laced" out. They did an amazing job. The property has so much more light and the hedges were trimmed in such a fashion that a great screen is provided from adjacent properties but we are not boxed in. Clean up was also quite good. The price point is a bit higher than I have paid other companies but in our case here, totally worth the extra expense of really good communication, no headache, fantastic job and overall great experience. I will be using this company annually for my needs here on the property. read more

Excellent work. Great team of hard workers. We have used this company 4 times and they have always done an excellent job.

This company charges $300 just to give you an estimate that is more than double the others. Save your money, there are a lot of good reliable companies, just need to do your homework. read more

I was 100% satisfied with every aspect of working with AC Horticultural Management. Renee Castillo, Certified Arborist, provided an extremely reasonable quote and provided same day service. The 4 man crew arrived on time, spoke English, worked together like clock-work, completed pruning 4 Queen Palms in only 45 mins and cleaned up both back yard and the area where shredding was done in the street. Thank you for the exceptional service! read more

Our back yard in Laurel Canyon is a bit of a tree fest - we've got a lot of big, old trees... Eucalyptus, Jacaranda, and more. Rene and his team have worked on them a couple of times now, and it's a credit to them and the care they've taken with our trees that they've stayed healthy and stayed upright in the midst of a couple of years of atmospheric rains and wind. We did another nice trimming today, the back yard looks great, and I just want to say again - thanks, Rene and company. Wonderful job. read more

If you don't care about damage to your property, hire them.  If you do, you're better off looking somewhere else. We hired Rene and his team to treat our oak from a beetle infestation and trim the oak and a small olive tree.  When they arrived we asked them to take care of our brand new gate when they take the branches out.  We even offered to cover it, but they declined reassuring us that they're professional and they'll take care of it.  After they left, we checked the gate and lo and behold there were tons of scratches all over it.  Although we have video (!!) from the security camera clearly showing his crew dragging the branches over the gate and even slamming them into the gate, Rene refused to admit that his crew did the damage on the pretense that his crew denied it because the branches were wrapped with a tarp.  Yes, the branches were indeed wrapped with a tarp, but the ends were still sticking out of the tarp and dragging over our brand new gate.  When confronted again with all our video evidence and a close up picture that clearly shows FRESH scratches, he claimed the crew said the scratches were already there.  After which he completely refused to respond to any of our follow-up calls or emails. We have no complains about the actual tree service performed, but I am appalled that a company refuses to accept liability for damage they cause to personal property, despite asking for more than $1000 to treat and trim 2 trees.  I won't post the video, but here's a picture of how our brand new gate looked after they left. read more

AC Horticultural Management worked on our yard today. They planted Ficus trees, cut back bushes and trees. Renè came and walked the yard with me and reviewed what we wanted. He also offered advice which was super helpful because he is a Certified Arborist. The crew was prompt and worked quickly. They cleaned up all the cut tree pieces and their work was amazing. They worked the entire day and I was shocked when I saw our backyard afterwards. This company is a double thumbs up and I would highly recommend them. Our neighbor even came over and they will start work for them tomorrow. Thank you to Renè and his crew. I greatly appreciate the professionalism and punctuality. Thank you! read more

To say that these guys are professional is an understatement! They are true masters of their trade!!! When Rene stopped by the first time - he didn't say much, just gave me the price and left. I knew right there that I was dealing with a person, who knew exactly what he was doing. Surely enough, on May 3 - they arrived as scheduled at 7 AM sharp, tried to be quiet, not to wake the neighborhood needlessly, while setting everything up. They masterfully removed a large pine tree on my backhill. And the final "blow" was literally when they used the blower to clean up my street, way outside of their immediate place of operation. WOW! I'm not bribed or otherwise coerced into writing this review and I sincerely wish AC Horticultural Management, Inc. with it's WONDERFUL employees and Mr. Rene Castillo to continue the legacy of Rene's father, who started the company and to deliver this incredible value and goodness to the community for many more generations of the honorable Castillo Family!!! read more

We have used this company more than once, they are terrific, highly reliable and highly recommend them.

Rene and his crew are masters at both tree removal (when necessary) , pruning and landscaping yards to bring out the full potential of plants and trees. My front and back yards needed substantial work. Rene had been recommended from a friend who needed an incredibly old and large tree removed (and roots) because of the damage to a building structure. It was amazing to see how this mammoth job was done! Totally professional! When I needed work done on my own home, I knew he was someone you could trust. He's fast to meet with you, oversees what needs to be done (while wanting to maintain trees as much as possible) and his price is really reasonable. To some it may seem unbelievable, but my plants and trees seem a lot happier and healthier now that they are pruned and ready to grow back. It was a joy to work with Rene. I highly recommended his company, as others recommended to me. read more

Renè and his crew were amazing. They were so detailed . Renè is a certified horticulturist and this made a huge difference. They arrived on time especially since it was an emergency. Their work was amazing and we will for sure use them again and refer them to friends and family. Thank you AC Horticultural, you made a stressful situation (dealing with a fallen tree) bearable and took away our stress. Total professionals!! read more

Contacted AC Horticultural for an estimate on removing a large pine tree. Rene stopped by and gave us a competitive price. Rene and his crews showed up two days later and did a fantastic job. The crew was efficient and made sure to work carefully without damaging the rest of the landscape. I would highly recommend this company for any tree removal you may need. read more

AC Horticulture has surpassed are expectations yet again! My in-laws had a large portion of a protected oak tree fall onto their home in the middle of the night. We needed someone to remove the portion of the tree that fell asap in order to have assessments made as to any structural damage that may have been caused. I referred my in-laws to Rene. He came out the very same day, quoted for the entire removal and clean-up, and had a crew out within an hour! Absolutely amazing and reliable service! read more

We hired them to take care of our trees which since we moved here ten years ago hadn't been properly cared for. HM trimmed, fertilized, straightened our trees (ten in total) and cut one down. They left us with proper instructions as to how to water the trees for the next month, left no branch or twig or leaf laying around. The crew of three had masks on during the entire six hours that they were here. And, thankfully, the crew chief spoke English. Overall a very professional experience, which we think is rather rare in the gardening services sphere in L.A. read more

Had Rene out to look at some problem Carolina Cherry and our overgrown Privet. For $175 he told me the trees needed fertilizer and gypsum. He proposed to trim the Privet and fertilize the Cherry. His price was $1200 - $175 (for consult) = $1075. Five guys showed up on time and were good workers....two left almost immediately after assessing how little was to be done. They did a nice job and were finished in 3hrs. I asked about adding some fertilizer to one of my olive trees that is looking a little distressed. The foreman texted Rene who said that would be an extra $50. They do nice work but are very expensive. Get another quote before you use their service. You may save yourself some money. read more

When one of the reasons you love your home is because of the grand oak tree in the yard, it's as important to care for it as any other part of the house, and I'm so glad a friend recommended Rene Castillo and AC Horticultural. They caught a small problem before it became a big one, and the team who came to trim out the branches on the oak and other tree as well were professional, efficient, and didn't leave a stray acorn or leaf on the ground! I'll be engaging them again when the tree needs more TLC than I can give it again. read more

Rene and his crew are professional in every sense. They show up on time, don't need to be micromanged and know how to trim a tree. The first time we used them they had to take down a failing 100 ft. Eucalyptus ..... I was overly concerned about multiple structures on the property and they did a flawless job! We've used AC Horticultural Management multiple times and love their work!!! read more

We needed some firewood. We called these guys on Monday, Martin Luther King day. They came within a few hours. Their rates were far cheaper than everybody else. Called Rene to give me an estimate. Very competitive, finished the job a few days later. Great service, would recommend to anyone! A+

I have used AC Horticulture three times over the past 10 years and this last service was even better than the first two! The crew was very conscientious about getting my garden furniture and decor out of the way of falling branches and debris and then restoring it once they were done. Each crew member was unfailingly polite and respectful. They did a great job on 5 trees, a bunch of overgrown shrubberies, removing an unwanted volunteer or two and de-fronding a 12 year old palm tree that had never been trimmed and was a brushfire torch waiting to happen. They cleaned up thoroughly - even skimmed my pool of stray leaves and twigs! Everything looks so good now!! Rene and his guys are the best! read more

Asked them back again for another terrific tree trimming experience! The results were beautiful. Thank you!

I used their website to get an estimate for a massive tree I needed trimmed. They were prompt in returning my call and got the job done within 48 hours of my phone call. Prices seemed fair compared to the market, but AC Horticulture was the quickest on getting it taken care of. They also take credit card! read more

We definitely would recommend Rene and AC Horticultural for your landscaping. Reliable, reasonable and excellent work. I live in a canyon and the trees on my hillside needed serious work. I had AC Horticultural Management do the work previously, so called Rene Castillo again. He was prompt, early even, for the quote - which was completely reasonable and within my budget. His crew was equally as prompt, worked quickly and left the property in better shape than when they arrived - I had needed to do some cleanup/sweeping, but they were so thorough. I'm happy to give them my highest recommendation and I have also realized I no longer have to go through the quote process with anyone else....I'll just call Rene. read more

Amazing team of hard working guys! Rene was fantastic and very knowledgeable. They removed two trees, trimmed some huge trees, trimmed a tangerine tree and a few smaller trees. They also planted two new trees. I couldn't be happier with their work. They were respectful of my other plants and trees, cleaned up so well it was hard to tell they had been there! I love the trees Rene suggested I plant. I would 100% recommend them if you need trees trimmed, removed, or planted. Thanks guys for a job well done! read more

Rene and his team did a great job with my trees. We got this gigantic oak in our front yard and I guess one of the large branches towards the top of the tree was loosened during the crazy winds we had earlier in the year. The recent rains were the straw that broke the camel's back and it came tumbling down. Rene came out to take a look in the morning. The horticulturists of america should be proud to have him among their ranks. His crew was there around noon. They were in and out and did a very thorough job. read more

I want to write a review about how professional and accommodating Renee was. He was able to arrange a crew to come do the work for us for the next day, which was extremely helpful for our timeline.
