Had a really great experience at AC Auto Electric. After other mechanics couldn't even figure out what was wrong, he diagnosed the issue within five minutes of looking at it. That alone impressed me. One of the bigger shops had quoted me almost $2,000, but he was able to get everything taken care of for just a couple hundred. With Austin summer coming up, I really needed my AC working and definitely did not have time to save up that kind of money, so this was a huge relief. He was super straightforward and explained exactly what was wrong and what he was fixing, which I really appreciated. He even noticed that one of my taillights was out and helped me get that fixed too. He was funny, kind, and easy to talk to. As a woman, going to car places can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but I never felt unsafe, pressured, or talked down to here. He got me back on the road quickly and clearly did his best to save me money. Definitely recommend. read more

Squirrels got into my engine compartment and gnawed through wiring, causing several problems. Medi figured out what was wrong quickly. When one of the needed parts turned out to be expensive, he went above and beyond, and built the part by hand for a fraction of the cost. On another car, he fixed the broken A/C system for less than expected. 13 years later, it's still going strong. Great work for less $$--I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Would not recommend these guys, dishonest and overcharged me for a simple AC leak job. $350 to change a simple $20 AC hose that took them less than 5 minutes. Go somewhere else where they won't take advantage of you. read more

I think this guy really knows his stuff, and I have taken all of our company fleet trucks there for years when we had electrical or trailer wiring issues. I brought my personal truck there for a 3rd brake light wiring issue. I had done the wiring myself but the light would not come on. I took it to him to look at. He looked at it, switched the wires, and viola... it came on. Then he charges me $60 bucks to switch the wires. I was like, really dude? I've brought you my trucks for years and you're gonna charge me 60 bucks for 30 seconds of work? I understand a guy has to make a living but don't gouge your repeat customers. Especially when said customer has a fleet of trucks that he was bringing you. Last time Any of my trucks will go there. read more

This guy knows AC, is straightforward, and will likely diagnose and fix your problem quicker and cheaper than anyone else around. It's a no-frills place but I'd rather have the job done right and affordably than sit in a waiting room unable to see what's being done to my car. read more

How I found AC Auto Electric was by referral from an employee at Autozone. I am not a auto mechanic however, I am very capable of making most of my repairs. I took my 1996 Honda Civic after I had invested many hours of searching for a severe short that was draining my battery dead each night. I had removed my interior panels, tested all fuses under dash and under hood, checked my grounds, unconnected and reconnected electrical harness wires, tested alternator twice [cleared tests each time], and I still couldn't get my test light to go out as I tested possible causes for the "parasitic" drain on my battery. PROBLEM SOLVED: determined there was a short within alternator, installed new alternator however, new alternator was defective so it was replaced and installed another new alternator. Our Honda Pilot AC stop working all of a sudden, we took it to another auto shop, and were quoted on a repair that offered no guarantee that the AC will work by replacing those parts, they told us it could potentially be more, kind of trial and error...I took then to AC Auto Electric and they were able to find out right away what was wrong. My car was ready within three hours, work was guaranteed and I even got a courtesy call two weeks later to see how the AC was working!! I've been going to AC Auto electric for almost 6 years now - it's a really small shop, it's easy to miss. It's on the west side of Lamar, north of Rundberg, south of Braker. The main guy who works there is awesome - really honest, fair (low!) prices. It's a true ma-and-pop type small business. He's never charged me a "diagnosis" fee (which I've always thought were ridiculous), and he always gets the work done in a timely matter. They're located kind of north central, but even when I was living way south off of Slaughter Lane I'd pay the extra $ to have it towed to their shop. It's a bit low tech and low key - the office is a bit disorganized and if you use a credit card he has one of those slide machines that makes a carbon copy, that sort of thing - but if that doesn't bother you and you're looking for a good, honest, fair priced auto mechanic, this is the place to go!!! read more

After trying to schedule an appointment with my car dealership for door repair-with no success. Thankfully, during an oil change I was referred to their adjoining business "neighbor" and my door was fixed within a couple weeks from the initial assessment, ordering the part and the actual repair; for a reasonable price. The location may have been to male-orientated,but the owner/repair was compliant, sincere and empathetic to my request. I may have not enjoyed sitting in the office for a few hours at that moment, but after the repair was done as fairly prompt and no major issues afterward.
