I will begin with the info that we have been going to this nail salon for years, and my mother has had the same type of pedicure and tech all those years. My mother has dementia, the tech knows this. I usually always go with her, but could not as we moved out to the fraser valley. I booked the appt (reg pedicure), had a family member take her, pick out a colour from the wall, and get her settled. The tech took advantage of a vulnerable senior, who is not able to make choices or decisions that she fully understands, and the tech "talked" her into upgrading to a gel pedicure. I am appalled at this. She completely took advantage of my poor mom. As well, the nail colour is actually two colours, it looks like she just tried to paint over the regular nail polish or something. My mothers toe polish looks terrible. I cannot believe that they elected to "upgrade" their service which meant more money for the salon at the expense of my vulnerable mom. They have lost two clients that have been with them for almost 8 years. Now, I know this will probably not change anyone's mind of going to this salon for their nails, but, I think that everyone should be aware of the very shady employees that are in this establishment. I can't recommend this business due to their lack of accountability. Not only do they make you wait 15 minutes for your scheduled appointment- they have TERRIBLE customer service. Being the most expensive nail salon in White Rock I would expect better... this is the set I received / asked for rounded tips however these are square. They want to me charge $20 to fix. I love Shayla! She is very sweet and very professional! Helen is the worst! One is rude too! I am all about service! When I walk in, I look for professionalism and great attitude! It seems as if all the Vietnamese girls just sit and gossip about each of us customers ( yap yap yap yap non stop!) Long ( the owner) is lovely! I go in because of her. Her Son is pretty rude so he needs to change his attitude because he was pretty rude and out of line when I had to do my check out and if I have to deal with 2 rude worker's & then owner's son, I am ready to take my business and my friends all to another nail salon where everyone treats the customer's much better. Long, have a talk with your staff and with your son. Customer's are important for your business. Please tell them to be polite & respectful. I've been going to absolutely nails for about five years now. The owner, loan, is super kind and always tries her best to get me in with my favourite techs. I have acrylic nails and see Linda- she is a perfectionist and works very quickly and is super friendly. Whenever I'm in the salon I am greeted with smiles and friendly hello's. I recently went to this nail salon, but didn't receive good service. The workers and manager "Loan" were rude when I asked questions about the prices. I almost felt as if the workers were mad about my presence. My experience at Absolutely Nail Salon wasn't great so I wouldn't recommend going there, especially at a busy time of year. read more

HORRIBLE. Two weeks ago I took my 13 and 8 year old daughters for mani/pedis becuase we had some gift certificates. The front counter service was terrible - they were not friendly or welcoming and were frankly down right rude. We made an appointment but still had to wait 20 minutes. After the services, despite having gift certificates for 1 adult mani/pedi and 2 childrens mani/pedis, they tried to charge me $80 more. In the end I had to pay $40 for shellac removal for my 13 year old. I left feeling totally ripped off. But the absolutely WORST part is that I just got back from the doctor because my 8 year old has an infection in both of her big toes. The blisters completely surround the nail and both toes are swollen and red. She is now on antibiotics for 7 days. The doctor believes the infection was likely caused by dirty instruments from the pedicure. Needless to say we won't be going back and I will not be recommending Absolutely Nails to anyone. read more

I would give zero stars if that was an option. My family got me a mani-pedi certificate for my birthday and I made the mistake of not booking Rose. She is the only one here thats professional and does a great job. I was given these two other girls: I believe their names were kitty and monica? anyway, from the second I walked in I was rushed to pick a colour. One of the girls came and was picking colours for me and telling me which one to do and rushing me...so i didn't even get to choose what i wanted. They both definitely were talking about me in front of me, thinking I didn't understand the language. I came in with my nails shaped square...and they made both my toes and fingers rounded without even asking me the shape i wanted before they started. The one working on my feet clipped my toe nails without care to the shape, and didn't even file my toe nails to give them any type of shape ! They look completely uneven and uncaringly clipped. The one working on my finger nails made them so short and rounded and uneven i look like i have child hands now. She was also filing them all sideways and when i spoke she made such a big deal about things. What a waste. I am SO upset at myself for not stopping them and just walking out. Let me start by saying I have been here 3 times (my mom twice) and each time service got worse. Reason I'm giving one star is because this last time I went for the gel pedi / Polish $75 deal and well I left with a cut toe. I liked the girl I had the 2nd time I went there (Kathy) but unfortunately she was busy this time. With that said she would have just done my fingers, not my toes so I would have ended up in the same situation! Immediately when the girl (Mica) began working on my feet (using nail file to get gel polish off feet) she kept filing part of my skin! I told her a couple of times she was hurting me. Then... When she got to cutting toe cuticles, 2nd toe in she did some major damage to. Toe was bleeding so bad. It was like she didn't want me to see. She didn't acknowledge it, just tried stopping it with some solution. When I made a comment to her she acted like it was nothing and like it had stopped. Well sure enough as soon as she took cotton off, full on blood again. Finally the woman who manages the front came and helped (in addition to the guy doing my nails) and in time got it to stop bleeding by using some kind of first aid gel and pressure on it. So not only was I unimpressed about that, I was unhappy with how I basically had to get my toes a different colour than fingers because they decided to do them at the exact same time. At this point I just wanted everything done with (especially since my toe was throbbing) . They kept trying to talk me into a fill (which they did the previous times I was there) and I explained I've had gel Polish change without a fill before. Yet they still wanted to argue it. So anyway once the guy began my nails, didn't ask if I want them shorter or a different shape, he just started on them! Then when he was "finished" I told him he didn't get close enough to the sides. He tried arguing with me telling me that it's just the light. I insisted he fix it, which he half assed did. So when I went to pay I thought maybe they'd deduct the cost of my pedicure at the very least. You know what they did? Deducted the cost of nail Polish colour change ($10) Yeah in exchange for mangling my toe, which now is possibly infected. All this and this is just my story from my one visit. My mom's 2nd visit was her last... Different situation but boils down to bad customer service/communication. read more

I received a gift card to Absolutely Nails a while ago and went in to get a shellac manicure. The girl who did my nails did not say a word to me the whole time. She used an electric grinder to file down the tops of my nails. At some points I had to tell her to stop because it was burning my nail bed. The shellac manicure was neat and done well. The only issue was that my nails were paper thin when the shellac was removed because they had been filed down so much. I will not return to this place as they take shortcuts to get the job done and do not follow proper procedures to complete a manicure. read more

Complete disregard for clients. I have come here often over the past four years, but I am done. The wildly inconsistent work depending on who you get is a real problem. I tried to work around this by making appointments and often still had to wait for long periods of time or they had no record of my appointment. Really. I find a lack of respect for a clients time to be the rudest part of their shoddy customer service. Maybe this was acceptable when they were one of the few places in town. But with more competition they should be wary. My advice is you can do better in a place that values repeat business. read more

I like this nail salon but the quality of your treatment really depends on what tech you get. Some of their nail technicians are extremely rough and do a poor job. You can tell who's rushing and who's not. I have had a few negative experiences. However, most of the time I am happy with my nails, shellac usually lasts about 10 - 14 days. I don't like to leave negative reviews but months after the fact, I have decided to explain why I absolutely will never be coming back here again. I was a customer for years and am sick of the crappy quality and rude service I have been witnessing the last few years. My last visit, I had to ask that a male stop working on my nails for the rude way he was talking to me and aggressive way he filed my nails (causing me to bleed) because he was angry that I didnt want him to cut my cuticles to prevent further nailbed damage. He argued with me that it wouldnt look good and kept insisting he knew better even though I tried to explain the damage it does after I leave the salon. I finally showed showed a picture of the damage it did the last time I had my nails done (which he by chance had been the one to do them) and he went on saying it was impossible and just kept repeating that the picture wasnt from him and then would sit and speak to the girl doing my pedi in their language all while aggressively filing my nails causing my finger to bleed. I finally had enough with him hurting my hand and repeating "that's impossible" when I called across to the owner (Lon) asking "can you please get someone else to do my nails". Lon just nodded him away and never took a second to see what had transpired or apologized. I was shaking and so upset, I could feel my face was flush but had my young daughter with me and didnt want to make a scene or let her know how upset I was. After, when I went to pay Lon just sat in a chair at a nail station, doing nothing, and kept me waiting at the till. When a couple minutes went by I finally said "can someone ring me thru?!" Lon just sat and then sent another girl to ring me thru - my biggest regret was even paying for this crap and even still leaving a tip because I didnt want the girl doing my pedi and my daughters nails to not get one. I dont blame employers for all their staffs actionS, but the way Lon handled this was disgusting. If you consistantly like bleeding nails, a mediocre mani/pedi, your skin around your nails tearing apart after treatment and listening to staff sit and speak to themselves in their own language to make you feel like an alien - you will find it here. Get some class and converse with your customers, not to each other! I highly recommend the girls across the street at Everlasting Nails which is where I go now. Chau is such a fresh breath of air after this place. The store may not look as fancy but you get top quality service. read more

Honestly at this point there's nothing good I can say about this place. I used to go here but as I actually knew more about acrylic nails I realized how much of a terrible job was done each and every time. My first visit they even ripped my nail but I was very nice about it and still returned with no complaints since I was a new customer. Every time I went the nails were ALWAYS too thick and the length and shape were irregular and inconsistent. I began going to other places once I realized that they actually charge an average of $10-15 more than salons that actually care about you and your nails. Although, my mother did continue going until recently her nails broke within a week. Since it was an acrylic nail she went in and complained, only for them to fix it and it break again in the span of 2 days. Not only did they not take this criticism well, but instead of practicing the etiquette of customers service and pinpointing the problem, they lashed out on my mom and banned her. Keep in mind she's a 55 year old stay at home mother who barely gets to go out of the house so to break a nail for simply vacuuming in my opinion is absurd. It's sad to hear how much of a downfall this business has and is becoming because as I tell more people who are current customers they agree on the poor quality and are currently switching salons. Not sure how long this place will keep up with all the competition now. Save yourself some time and try another local salon, because I can tell you already they're much better. :( read more

I've been coming here for years to get my nails done, acrylic nails and pedicures. I always go to the same technician as she always does an amazing job with long acrylic nails. She's always been a bit rude and blunt in some ways but I never took much notice of it. Until this week when she said "Don't you want to lose weight? what does your boyfriend think? Men like thin women". I honestly felt like crying on the spot. I've never been spoken to like that, especially by another woman. I could tell the nail ladies were talking about it after as well, as some words in English don't translate, words like "exercise and tone" came up often. I've never felt more humiliated before and felt so hideous coming out of a spa, somewhere that should make you feel pretty. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to go back to her again. I wont allow someone to speak to me like that. I will go back for pedicures though because I enjoy them. And I hope she asks me why I don't go to her anymore. read more

I have been coming to this place since it first opened but the services have declined. The staff push shellac even after you have told them numerous times that you want regular polish. I would expect the pedi process to be consistent with all the techs but it isn't. However the manager is very friendly. If you want a quick pedi good place to visit. read more

I will never go back here. I used to go regularly for gel nails and infills but as other reviews have said it completely depends on which tech you get as to whether your get good service or terrible service. On one occasion I had a girl cut my nail so short it bled and as she tried to 'fix' it without me seeing she mangled the nail even worse. I ended up having to pull my hand away and essentially make a scene because she kept saying "it not so bad, it will be fine, it fine!". I took a photo of my nail and actually thought I would have to go to the doctor. Foolishly I went back months later as I was in a rush and hadn't been to any other salons in the area before. My gel nails had grown out quite long so I wanted them removed and completely replaced. The girl I got evidently was either in training or had no idea what she was doing as she kept asking the tech next to her for help. She started to remove the gel as if it was acrylic and I had to tell her 3 times it wasn't. The whole time I was apprehensive given how incompetent she seemed. She was taking so long that the store was closing and I told her to just forget about the reapplication of the gel and give me a straight manicure but as she started to paint my nails I had to pull my hand away as the nail beds were completely rough and had not been properly filed down after the removal of the gel. The technician was lovely. However I went in for a nail fill and ended up paying for a new set and additional for color and three nails with an easy marble look. When I go in I should be shown why I need a new set before the technician starts prying them off my fingers. Other places I have been show if the nail is lifting.. after 9 nails were removed I was then asked if I wanted a new set. Not much choice considering how much each nail repair costs. If I had any idea I would have paid the outrageous amount I would have actually got fancy decorated nails. I asked several times how much it was going to be. "I don't know" or " no worries it's included " was what I was told. I have had my nails done many times for years. I just had a new set out on two months ago and my nails were not lifting. The nails are not filled all the way in and I will end up going in for a fill sooner than usual. I called and asked for a manager twice. I still have not heard back. Poor service when communication is horrible. I will not be returning nor will I recommend this nail salon to anyone. If I had a call back it would have been a different story. Places like this should not try to rip people off. If someone asks how much then tell them or get someone who can tell them. DONT'T take off nails without getting authorization from the customer first and assume they will pay for a new set of nails when all that was needed was a fill. The technician was friendly until the very end and then treated me like just a number. I've had 2 infections from them..one on my hand so bad it turned my finger green...the other one was on my toe several visits after the green finger....they are rude most days and try to squeeze you into every appointment even if it means you have to sit soaking your feet in cold water while you wait for an available technician. Great pricing and quality of a pedicure but honestly not very well managed staff. I end up waiting every time for my nail technician even when i book an appointment weeks ahead. One time i booked a double pedi for me and my girlfriend, for quality time, and they took in my girlfriend right away and i stood there for 45 minutes before they could assist me, totally ruined our experience. All girls speak in Vietnamese to each other and it really feels like they are talking about you, this has to change. read more
