I Googled local TV repair, and found Sam's. He guessed over the phone that it was a mainboard problem and would be about $140 to fix, to which he would apply the $40 diagnostic fee. I was able to take my TV in to him because it's only about 36". Sam called me later that day and said the TV was working fine and he could not replicate the problem. He kept it overnight to make sure, called LG (they said a connector was likely loose) and then went ahead and replaced the connector just in case. When I came to pick my TV up he was only going to charge me the $40 diagnostic fee. I asked how much the connector was and insisted on paying him the $20 for the part. He tried to refuse. My son said, "Seriously, just take it, dude, she gets what she wants." LOL. When have you EVER had to insist a repairman take payment for a part he installed?? I mean, he opened up my TV, tested the components, and replaced a part that was likely the problem! This guy is so honest. MY TV is now working perfectly. I highly recommend Sam's.

A while back, I contacted Chipheads for a comparison quote on the replacement of a laptop keyboard and frame after a water spill fried a touchpad. The first place I had visited for a quote was a lovely one-man shop that quoted me $300 minimum for the repair - and that was with full awareness that I'd already purchased my own replacement parts and therefore all cost on his part was purely labor. He also communicated clearly that accessing the keyboard area required moving multiple parts he was not entirely familiar with and laughed that he would have to give me the $2000+ laptop he'd tried to sell me if the repair didn't go well. I left the establishment unconvinced of his capability to fix my also $2000+ design powerhouse that had not left my side since I got her. Enter Chipheads. I contacted via the general email address on the website, outlining the general situation and requesting a quote. Chipheads teammate Scott responded, and the quote he gave was comparable. I then emailed to confirm that I'd ordered the right parts before making the decision to put my laptop basically in the hospital right before I was going to be gone for a full two weeks, so I wouldn't be able to get her back even if the parts were wrong and repairs could not be done. Scott never responded to that email, and I had to leave for my out-of-town event. When I'm home, I rely on my laptop heavily, so dropping off when I'm not occupied with an event is not ideal. When another long event came up on my schedule, I contacted Chipheads again, this time creating a new email thread directing back to the general email address - the previous thread had directed to Scott's email address after we connected. I admit that I was hoping that I would connect with Jarret this time, and I did. He responded not only quickly but also giving me the option of a two-week repair period for less than $200. I'd be occupied with my event for exactly that amount of time anyway, so this was perfect. When I arrived the day before my event started, Jarret was with another guest. Both the impression that the first shop had given me about the delicate nature of my repair and my own experience in tinkering with laptops and electronics in general added to why I specifically waited to speak directly with Jarret given the impression of reliability he gave me in our correspondence. I dropped my laptop off with Jarret the day before my event started. Less than 48 hours later, he called to let me know that my laptop was ready for pickup. That was back in August. I specifically waited to ensure that the laptop was in perfect working order before leaving a review. It's now October. Safe to say, my laptop is in good health. Dropping one star for Scott dropping the ball on communication. Regardless, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Chipheads for your repair and upgrade needs.

I stopped by and waited a short time to speak to an associate. The store itself looks sparsely stocked, but I'll wager that there are shelves and racks of goods behind the storefront. The helpful person at GopherMods looked over the phone, gave me an estimate and added that I'd likely be replacing my screen as a result of the work. The quote I received was reasonable, but exceeded the value of the phone. Of course, the phone was paid off about a month before it started acting up! You would need to unplug it & wait any ware from 5min to a few hrs to plug it back in for it to work. I gave Pete the info about the TV he requested & he called back a few hrs later with a estimate after researching the issue of $130.00 to $225.00 depending on the exact issue that he would find. I scheduled a service call for the next day (Saturday). Pete called when he was in route & once he arrived he got right to work. It took about 2hrs to find & fix the issue. When I went to pay the bill it was under the estimate, it for $127.50. I am very satisfied with the customer service & job preformed.
