The very friendly associate at BatteriesPlus recommended coming here for my mobile phone, aka the Energy Vampire. The battery loses its charge pretty quickly and sometimes didn't want to charge; grrr! Fortunately GopherMods is conveniently located in the IDS Crystal Courtyard, a quick walk from my home. I stopped by and waited a short time to speak to an associate. The store itself looks sparsely stocked, but I'll wager that there are shelves and racks of goods behind the storefront. The helpful person at GopherMods looked over the phone, gave me an estimate and added that I'd likely be replacing my screen as a result of the work. The quote I received was reasonable, but exceeded the value of the phone. Of course, the phone was paid off about a month before it started acting up! Still, that's no one's fault and I thanked the him for his time. If I ever have a problem that is less invasive or if I need an accessory for my phone (or even my tablet), I'll be back! read more

My Nintendo Switch LCD screen unfortunately shattered last month. After calling around, Gophermods had a reasonable price and was conveniently located near me. I paid when they ordered the part, but held onto my device until it arrived. A family member was able to bring it in (and later pick it up) when I was out of town. It did take a bit of time to complete the repair, but given the recent snow and it being over the holidays, it seemed reasonable. Have been here with my friend several times in the past week. First to pick up his phone, then to drop off my old ipod and then to pick it up. Unfortunately, they could not fix either of our devices, but I love the fact that they don't charge simply to diagnose. If it can't be fixed, it can't be fixed. John and the staff at Gophermod's upgraded my 2008 MacBook to be fully functional again so I could use Adobe Creative Cloud in just over a week (waiting for parts for an ancient lap top takes time!). I later went back and had them replace the battery and lightning charging port on my Iphone 7, making it work and operate like new, in under 2 hours. Update: Initial screen started malfunctioning after a month or two (dead spots, unresponsive) & the home button was uneven with the level of the screen (which I initially looked over as I didn't care that much as I thought it to be mostly cosmetic). Had a second screen put on and home button cracked under normal thumb pressure after a week or so of use, which can't be fixed by anyone but Apple. Not sure if it was directly caused by the screen repairs... Service is fast, the guys are nice & helpful, but the displays are definitely not OEM and seem to be of lower quality. This place was great and I will most definitely be back when my phone screen inevitably cracks again! Prices were exactly as described on the website, they were able to get me in right away in the afternoon and had my phone back to me within an hour and a half. Replaced my screen as my touch screen was failing on parts of my keyboard and they helped me fix up my camera so I no ok get take fuzzy front facing pictures. I cannot recommend Gophermods enough! They do all repairs within a few hours--definitely by the end of the day. I first brought my phone to them with a shattered screen. They told me that it might actually be cheaper to get a new screen at the Apple store depending on the version of phone I had--which I appreciate. Turns out it was an older version so they fixed it within a few hours. I had originally taken it to Verizon because I thought it might be completely broken--it wasn't allowing me to make or receive calls. Verizon acted like this had never happened before to anyone and immediately tried to sell me a new phone. Meanwhile the tech at Gophermods knew instantly what the issue was and confirmed via a program. I took my phone there for a new battery a few months later because I had such a good experience. Again, the customer service was top-notch. Then yesterday, I noticed my phone had lines all over it--and I thought it might actually be a goner. I didn't even make the connection that it could be a screen issue. But the tech said it was related to the earlier screen repair and fixed it for free. I love these guys. The only drawback is that they are sort of difficult to find--I wish IDS would put up some better signage. But once you know where they are it's super convenient for those who work downtown. I live downtown and went to the Gophermods in the IDS. Justin was courteous and knowledgable, and even though they're only open weekdays I was told I'd get my phone back by the end of the week because they had to order the necessary parts. Of course, it was the only week of this winter with a blizzard which delayed shipping, but because of the delay that was no fault of Gophermods I still received my phone in excellent repair at the beginning of the following week and a discount for the inconvenience. It's been my experience with other companies to get excuses, and not assume any responsibility if they can't deliver.
