Honestly...the worst customer service ever. My boyfriend took my car for an estimate. The owner, David Button, jumped in the car, rattled off some repairs that needed to be done and gave a verbal estimate of $600. I scheduled my car to be repaired two days later. I was told Dave would call in a few hours with a most exact estimate and that my car would be finished by the end of the day. When I called 4 hours later to check on the estimate, I was called back and yelled at by the owner and told to come pick my car up because "he did not need the stress before the holiday." I refused and demanded an estimate. Finally Dave returned my call 6 hours after I brought my car in and told me something different than originally said, was wrong with the car and that it was not something he could get done in one day and that I should come get my car and bring it back when I had more time to leave it there. And I was given a written estimate on a sticky note for $840! A sticky note. He said the car was worth fixing because the motor was excellent and I should be able to drive it for a few more years despite its high mileage.
When I returned on Monday I inquired about the necessity of all the repairs and indicated that the estimate was more than I could afford. The owner agreed to do only what was necessary. My car was repaired and I went to pick it up and paid $683.16. I came directly home. When I got in my car to drive to work the next day, the car was worse than it was before I brought it to the shop. I called numerous times and got no answer. I was afraid to drive the car and do more damage. I wound up driving the car to the shop the moment it opened, with my boyfriend following me in his truck for safety. The owner came out and yelled at me for parking in front of the door and I was told that the "new" part was faulty and that it would be repaired free of charge because it was under warranty.
A half hour later I was called by the owner and told that it was not a faulty part and that it was the front differential that needed to be repaired. When asked what happened and why it needed repair? I was asked sarcastically if I was a mechanic and told "how do I know, it does have high mileage." I then asked it the owner would call me back and let me know how much something like that costs. In the meantime, I was doing my research and considering buying a new car. Why continue to spend money repairing this car if things like this would continue to happen due to high mileage. I was never called back. My boyfriend call backed before closing the NEXT day and was told that the car was not finished and the owner said "here we go again". We were afraid of further conflict if we called again.
I was not called back until Friday. We had plans to go away for the weekend and had to make arrangements for alternative transportation. I explained that we were not in the area and asked that the key be left under the mat for us to pick up the car on Sunday evening when we return. I was told then that there was a $337.66 additional charge for labor. My weekend away was ruined because I did nothing but think about how I was being treated by this auto mechanic's shop.
On Monday (again) we went first thing to pick up the car. It had been parked on the street and there was a significant snow storm over the weekend. It was plowed in and we had to shovel it out. I went into the office and explained that I was dissatisfied. I was never called back, I was never given a written estimate or agreement to sign either time and I did not appreciate being spoken to like I was spoken to by this owner. He then proceeded to tell me that he repaired my car with used parts and he saved him a significant amount of money and was only charging me for the mechanic's labor. That it was not my differential, but the transfer case. Again, I paid in full.
As soon as I drove off, I noticed that my steering wheel was shaking and that if you drove the car more than 60mph it would hum and shake uncontrollably. I immediately called Absolute Auto and was told to bring it back in. I lost 3 hours of wages. I dropped the car off AGAIN and was this time greeted by the owner's son who I told that I was very upset about the misdiagnosing, no written estimate, the poor customer service, the aggression in communication and I was told there would be no charge for any further repair.
I was called one hour later and told there was nothing wrong with the car that I had snow and ice stuck in the wheel well. I drove for 20 minutes after picking up the car. Although we were plowed in, there is no way there was snow and ice stuck in the tire.
Please take my advice and never have repairs done by this place. These last 12 days have been a nightmare, thanks to Dave Button and Absolute Auto. read more
