This review is for the Colonial Hyundai Sales department, formerly known as MJ Sullivan Sales. I…read morewas shopping for a new car and after going back and forth via text and email and feeling comfortable with the out the door price, I set up a test drive and initial meet with the sales team. Now before this I seemed to have been handed off between four different people ranging from Internet sales to sales and sales manager. I didn't care who showed me the car as long as I was able to test drive it. Received several texts and email reminders about the test drive. Took time off to make the appointment but when I showed up the main person I was dealing with seemed to be busy with another customer. They had me go to a new sales guys who very recently had joined their Hyundai team. He came from a different dealer and a different car company so I was a little critical on if he would be about to answer my questions. Sure enough I seemed to know more about the vehicle than he did. AND for the test drive he told me due to insurance purposes we could only make right turns. I looked at him and asked what about Highway driving and he said no. I voiced my displeasure in that as I needed to see how the car performed on the highway. Just about that time the other guy showed up and said that yes we can go on the highway. Now before we started to drive I wanted to know about some features on the dash such as the camera. New guy didn't know, the other guy showed and didn't know but said he'd look it up but wanted me to leave for the drive. Got the impression they wanted to rush me out on the test drive. Oh, so before I showed up and in all my correspondence with them I referenced a specific vehicle by number. When the new guy went to pull the car around (should have been ready when we got there) he couldn't find the car. Took him at least ten minutes of looking. When he pulled it up it wasn't ready to be shown. Still had all the plastic on the seats and boxes in the back. I was disappointed as I wanted to check out the third row seat but couldn't because they hadn't set the car up. Other salesman shows up and takes boxes out of the back and has me look but it was rushed, so much so I forgot to sit in the third row seat as that was one thing I wanted to do. Overall probably the worst experience I have had on seeing a Vehicle I wanted to buy. Complained later that night to the manager. Listed what went wrong, but the price was good and I wanted the car so the lower part of my email talked about a couple more questions and coming back to the dealership in a few days to perhaps finalize the deal. Appears manager only read the first few sentences of the email and not the bottom part where I was going to come in. So needless to say, I kept looking and found a more hospitable and friendly dealership with the same vehicle and at a lower price. So I purchased from them.

I had an awful experience with my 2022 Palisade at this dealership (Colonial/MJ Sullivan). The worst part was the manager, Paul, who said I was lying and was never told the amount that I was told (which is insanity). I've never been so offended! Not to mention they charged over $100 for an oil change, they weren't able to do my seatbelt recall at the first visit, and their customer service is just the worst. Definitely go elsewhere!

WARNING TO POTENTIAL BUYERS -- Ocean Honda Group, Groton, Connecticut…read more I do not usually write reviews, positive or negative, but my family is dealing with a serious situation that others should know about. Using the Navy Federal TrueCar buying service, I referred a close family member to Ocean Honda Group in Groton, Connecticut, because I believed purchasing from a reputable dealership would be safer than buying from a wholesale dealer. Unfortunately, that belief turned out to be misplaced. In February 2026, my family member visited the dealership to view and test-drive a dark gray metallic Honda CR-V that had been advertised through the buying service as a 2022 model. She test-drove that specific vehicle and agreed to purchase that same vehicle based on the dealership's representation that it was a 2022 Honda CR-V. It was only later, in April 2026, after she had already made one payment and was approaching a second, that the dealership informed her the vehicle she had been driving was actually a 2020 Honda CR-V, while her purchase agreement listed a 2022 Honda CR-V. In other words, the vehicle she test-drove, agreed to purchase, and took delivery of was the 2020 Honda CR-V from the very beginning, but it had been presented and sold to her as a 2022 model. To be clear, this was the same vehicle the dealership delivered to her, registered, and placed license plates on. The dealership asked that the vehicle be returned so they could "remedy the situation." When we brought it back, the manager informed us they were waiting for the vehicle matching her contract VIN to be returned by another buyer. We asked how such a serious error could have happened, but no clear explanation was provided. Now, several days later, they are still waiting to recover the correct vehicle. Nearly three months after purchase, and after making payments, my family member is now without a car while this situation remains unresolved. The explanation given was that the two vehicle colors were "so close you couldn't tell the difference." That was difficult to accept, since one vehicle is silver and the other is dark gray. This experience raises serious concerns about inventory control, paperwork accuracy, and customer service. My advice to anyone considering purchasing from this dealership: Verify that the VIN on the vehicle matches all paperwork before signing. Confirm that the VIN matches your insurance and registration documents. Review every dealership document carefully. Do not assume everything has been verified correctly. Their advertising emphasizes trust, but trust must be supported by accuracy, accountability, and proper handling of mistakes. Based on this experience, I would not refer friends or family members to this dealership again.
