I've had multiple experiences with this company over the last 4+ years. It started off well, until the problems started adding up. A whole new HVAC unit was installed in my attic by this company, they stepped off the rafters and put a hole in my ceiling. Okay, no big deal, but they fought us and tried to blame us for the hole. They ended up fixing it- thanks. Issue after issue with this NEW system. Replaced the mother board, flushed the system multiple times ($$$!!!) and nothing fixed it. Got a new company out- and they quickly assessed the problem- the thermostat wasn't talking to the system, so a $200 fix and the system is working. Next issue a bit later, the system stops working again. Come to find out there was never a secondary drain shut off installed, a new drip pan was not installed, it was caulked where there were cracks!! So as it filled with water, water leaked down two stories to the main floor and we have water issues on the main floor. They also didnt install the only PVC drain properly. They propped it up so it was higher than the lowest point so water would never drain out of it anyways. ABS has royally screwed us over. I will never work with them again. I highly recommend you think twice before you do, as well. read more

This is the worst company to go if you are looking for honesty and customer service. Adam has consistently lied to us. What kind of business owner leaves the country for over a month without someone covering for them??? We made the mistake of referring him multiple times to friends and family. You would think that he would definitely take care of us, but it's the opposite. We have caught him in multiple lies. We purchased a whole new unit approximately 4 months ago. This summer the unit broke down and we were out of air conditioner in 90 degrees weather for 2 weeks. We had to move out during this time due to the extreme heat. Now this month it's broken down again and we don't have any air conditioning or heat for the last 5 days. We made the mistake of buying a service contract with Adam which is worthless. Don't let this happen to you. Run!! I will be filing a compliant with the licensing board. read more

A mark of a good company isn't how they act when things go smoothly, but how they act when things goes wrong. After the install, a hole appeared in the ceiling. Worried that we'd get stuck with a separate bill I called Adam to discuss what had happened. He quickly arranged for a repairman to come to the house and fix it. I appreciate working with companies that take accountability and make things right when mistakes are made. Will definitely use them again. read more

Trust is everything when it comes to HVAC repair companies. When your HVAC stops working, you don't have the time to get multiple quotes nor the money to pay for multiple service call / diagnostic fees. I learned, after the fact, that Adam from ABS significantly overcharged me for a replacement part in my A/C unit. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend him because I cannot trust him to charge a fair price for his work. The positives: On a Sunday evening we discovered our A/C wasn't working. We called ABS and, within the hour, Adam came over to help. (He lives in our neighborhood.) He was there for about 15 minutes, fixed the issue, and charged $49 for labor which seemed very reasonable to me, especially on a weekend. The negatives: The cost of the replacement part seemed high to me, so I looked up the model number of the capacitor required for our A/C unit. After a quick search, I found it for about $12 at Home Depot and several other retailers. In the itemized receipt from ABS, I was charged $155 for that same part, a 1200% markup. Before sharing this information in this review, I wanted to confirm with him that this is correct. He replied that the 1200% markup was for his "knowledge and experience," and that he feels he is offering it at a discount because he believes larger companies charge even more (around $189, he said) for that part. He challenged us to call around to see what larger companies charge, so we did... Most companies would not provide quotes over the phone, but of the ones who did, every single one gave us a lower quote. The next time I have an HVAC issue I will be calling one of those few companies who are transparent and upfront about their pricing: Southern Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning, Santa Air and Ambrose Heating & Cooling. read more

I called Adam from ABS because my AC unit was not blowing any air. He came over the next day (on a Saturday) a few hours after the agreed upon time. I figured since it was over 90deg outside and a weekend, he was plenty busy so I understood and was just happy to have the issue looked into. He went to the unit outside (never stepped foot inside the house to check the blower/furnace/coils in the attic) and immediately told me that my capacitor was at 80% and needed to be replaced. Also that my Freon had some pressure, but needed more and that there was probably a leak. I refused the capacitor replacement ($155), because I knew I could buy it online for less than $20 and replace it myself. I was hesitant regarding the Freon, because I could feel the unit in the attic getting cold... it just wouldn't cool down the 2nd floor. I figured he was the expert, so I told him to top it off. This is where the pain started.. I have a 4lb unit and he claimed it took 5.5lbs to fill, so coils and all he was telling me the entire system was empty of Freon!! At $125 a pound he charged me over $680 for just the Freon, plus $109 for the service call. And then told me he would charge me $264 for a sealant, which he would return on Monday and add, but that it wasn't guaranteed to work. He then left without even verifying that the systems was working and told me that it would slowly start cooling. Many hours went by and the system was still not blowing any cold air. I purchased and rushed delivery of two capacitors (less than $30 for both), one for outside and one for the blower upstairs. I replaced both Monday morning but neither solved the issue. I called him Monday, told him it wasn't working, and again came in about 5 hours late. First thing he said when he saw me was that I needed the capacitor replaced! I explained that I had replaced both capacitors, to which he replied without seeing them. "I don't trust those capacitors you buy online, unless you allow me to replace them (at $155 each), I can't help you". I told him that he was saying didn't make any sense and that I had measured their capacitance with a multimeter and they were good. He said they usually test ok, but are no good. At that point I knew he was trying to take my money any way he could. So I told him to give me a refund for the sealant, which had not been applied, and told him to leave. I called someone else who in less than 10 minutes told me I had a bad blower motor (from just listening to it) and that I could order it and replace it myself if I chose to for about $150. He charged me nothing and said that what Adam from ABS had done was ridiculous. I ordered the motor, replaced it and had the system cooling right away. Please don't use, ABS! Adam is not an honest man. The only reason he gets 1 star (besides yelp not allowing less) is that he does give discounts to military, teachers and first responders. However with him, it's not worth it. read more

Adam came out to fix my furnace. He was on time and prepared. The total cost for his service call and repair was very reasonable! My furnace is running! He was professional and took the time to explain in detail the situation with my furnace. I'm so pleased. I will call him again should have any further problems. Why didn't I call sooner? Paid $78 for a Furnace or Air Conditioner Tune-Up Plus 1-Pound of Refrigerant service for two AC units at my home. The guy from ABS checks around both AC units for about 30 minutes and said the capacitor of one of my units is operating at 80% efficiency. Knowing that capacitors are typically not expensive, I agreed for him to replace it. However, he presents me with a $155 charge just for the capacitor. I was very skeptical and said I'll check for the actual price and if its not what he says then we'll have a problem. Low and behold, an hour after he left I found the exact same capacitor online for $4.75. I can understand a 50% or 100% mark-up but a 3,263% mark-up is OUTRAGEOUS!. Unless you want to get ripped-off, do not do business with this company. read more
