This review is similar to, but not quite the same as, the review I wrote for Medical Neurology…read more Medical Neurology is the name of the practice of Epstein, Bliklen, and.. some other people. Kumar? Hussein? I've only seen Epstein. The practice seems pretty busy; I'm surprised no one else has reviewed it. Anyhow, I've had migraines since I was 12, and have seen half a dozen neurologists across the country. Dr. Epstein is the best, and my favorite. He honestly cares about his patients... but sometimes he shows it in nontraditional ways. I'm giving Dr. Epstein a good review because he helped me fix my migraine drug regimen. That didn't just involve throwing drugs at me: I also had to figure out which foods and triggered my headaches, and fix my sleep patterns. Initially, I wasn't thrilled with his action plan. It certainly wasn't an instant cure, but I feel better than ever, and I'm not overmedicated. The reviews on various sites that complain about his 'bedside manner' make me laugh. Yes, he's abrupt. His sense of humor's a little off. He thinks up some pretty bad jokes sometimes, so if you get offended super easily, or if you can't deal with political incorrectness... this might not be the neurologist for you. There are plenty of doctors who will listen to you whine, throw you some painkillers, and coo, 'come back in a month.' Dr. Epstein will be the one to tell you, 'don't be a moron. You can't sleep five hours a night, drink a liter of soda a day, eat all your trigger foods, and not get migraines.' He'll tell you what you need to do to take care of the problem you have, even if it means you might want to shoot the messenger. If you want to feel better, Epstein & Medical Neurology get my endorsement. If you want a yes-man neurologist who will just take your money, give you some pills, and kiss your ass so you can avoid any hard answers and hurt feelings, go elsewhere. ____________________________________________ Patient population includes (but not limited to) people with nerve damage, stroke, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, migraine, spinal cord injury, and brain damage/ trauma.

Even if you have the most competent professional to help you thru, the psychological, emotional and spiritual comfort that comes from a person who cares. You cannot buy this with any amount of money. It has to come from the person inside, the eternal soul who has learned that we are all in this together! We are walking each other home! And the heart of someone who feels what others are feeling. These qualities elevate, Dr. Andrew Little from skilled expert to Healer / Earth Angel / most excellent human Highly recommend dr. Little and company as his front desk staff and nurses are absolutely as caring as the good doctor himself. If doctors hospitals and clinics make you nervous or you have a diagnosis that scares the heck out of you, I cannot say enough good things about Barrow, go there and, let your heart tell you how it feels to be in your body in the presence of so many well-trained, spiritual humans dedicated to your well-being.

GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU HAVE SEIZURES!! I called and asked if Dr. Kumar handles patients with…read morecatamenial epilepsy (hormonal epilepsy...I have seizures at certain times of my cycle). I was placed on hold while the receptionist said they would go and ask Dr. Kumar herself. I was told that yes, she does. Go to my appointment and when Dr. Kumar finally comes in I am asked to describe my seizures. She asks if I live alone and I say yes. "So, how do you know that you had a seizure?" Because, first of all, I ALWAYS have a warning prior and second, it's not like I can be sitting there knitting a sweater, have a seizure then continue on knitting as if nothing has happened. There are repercussions to a seizure... Is it really that difficult to understand? The question wasn't to get a better picture of my seizures, it was as if not believing that I really am having seizures (why do doctors act like we make stuff up? As if this is all fun for us?). She also asked if I work. When I said no she asked if I'm on disability and what do I receive disability for. What's the purpose of these questions? It's like they just go in there assuming you're making stuff up. Believe me, I don't want to be there in her office and it took A LOT for me to admit/realize when I could no longer work. I'd also love to not have to deal with her, or other doctors', ignorance in an attempt to get assistance with my medical conditions. In addition to her telling me during this appointment that she doesn't specialize in seizures it was plainly obvious that she doesn't. After she asked me what kind of testing I have already had and what kind of seizures I have she tells me she needs to do more of the same testing because she doesn't know what kind of seizures I have since I live alone. Um, what? 1) You just asked what kind of seizures I have and I told you 2) They can still be (and some have been) witnessed 3) Why do you ask me what testing I've had if you obviously don't care? Why do you ask me ANYTHING if obviously my responses don't seem to matter? I ask about Epidiolex, a CBD medication FDA approved in 2018. She tells me she isn't comfortable prescribing a "new" medication (I understand this is considered "new" for the medical community) and isn't comfortable prescribing anything without any tests and without knowing what kind of seizures I have. Hmm...a little preparation may have been good for this? If you don't take me at my word (then why ask the questions?) then why didn't you prepare and read my records? If you don't take me at my word then why should I believe anything you say? Instead, I'm told she wants more testing done and she tells me that I've been on every seizure medication but proceeds to say she needs testing to see what medication to put me on because even catamenial epilepsy patients must be on medication (No they don't. Also, how would she even know that if she doesn't specialize in seizures and doesn't seem to know the basics of "normal" seizures? There's no way she would have known much, if anything, about catamenial epilepsy to be able to make that claim. And the research I found it clearly states some patients don't respond to medication and it must be addressed hormonally. Why don't doctors seem to listen when you happen to be that one outlier who doesn't fit the norm?). I'm really tired of these doctors not listening to you and demanding that you be subjected to the same tests and medications over and over again simply because they weren't there for the first dozen or so times. Isn't that what medical records are for? She made no mention of wanting to address my hormones. I came and told her why my seizures are hormonal; why doesn't she want to verify that? She's simply dismissing it. My catamenial epilepsy needs to be addressed hormonally. I've tried typical seizures medications. I WISH one had worked. That would've been easy. Also, isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? Why are we treated as if we are crazy if we don't want to do that? This is my body, I know what has worked, what hasn't and how my body responds to things. These doctors don't care about you or listen to you, they simply check the boxes to get as much money from their insurance and kickbacks from medications provided as possible.
