When I called, I was told there "is nothing I can Do". But I can reschedule you for 2months from today. Poor service, inefficient and quite an odor-filled salon. Long story short, our very private neighbor religiously sees her favorite stylist at About Faces every two weeks and when she didn't show or call to cancel, they went ABOVE AND BEYOND making sure she was okay. If they hadn't intervened or went with their gut feeling that something wasnt right, our poor neighbor would be going into day THREE on the ground, still waiting for help. Had an amazing massage here from Matt. Highly recommend. He's very talented. Very intuitive. My friend had a facial. She enjoyed, but seemed to be a hard sell on their products which I am not really down with. It's a weird set up in a kind of business park next to the highway. After undressing, we were placed in this cutesy cafe area where we were offered a generous assortment of snacks/ beverages. I received a terrible cut that will take over a year to grow out despite showing detailed photos and having a very detailed conversation about what I wanted. Management did not care about my hair being butchered even though a seasoned stylist reviewed my cut 6 weeks later and stated they had never seen a cut completed so poorly. Good luck. read more

This is my favorite of the About Faces locations for aestheticians. I haven't had positive experiences at all of the other locations, but all of the aestheticians here have been amazing-- and I've seen four different people for brow tints/waxes. My favorite is definitely Era. I think she's the most knowledgeable about brows and tinting/coloring and I always try to book with her when she's available. I highly recommend going to her for your brow/lash needs. But you can't go wrong with anyone! And the location is super conveniently located near plenty of food stores and other places to run errands nearby! read more

I have had three haircuts from three different stylists at this salon and it has been a good experience every time. They run on time, take their time and do a good job. The stylists do try to sell you the products but they're not pushy and often just recommend them. The basic haircut is also reasonably priced. It's been a good experience overall. read more

Then when she finally got me on the phone I started to ask her about the different facials and what they do during the facial she quickly rushed me off the phone and told me I can look it up online. I had a mixed experience at About Faces, but left feeling great which is what matters most in the end. I came here with a friend for her birthday and we got a package that included a massage, facial and pedi. The massage: Hers was great. Mine was OK. My masseuse was obviously very knowledgeable in his field and could immediately tell my most tight areas and issues in my body. However, he spent much more time giving me lessons on these issues than actually fixing them. Half the time he fiddled with laying hot cloths with essential oils on me (which felt great, don't get me wrong). When he did massage it was awesome, he stated I needed much more than an hour. I agreed with that, but if he had cut down the chat and hot cloth time I think I would have come out of it much better. I usually get a monthly massage and scheduled another immediately for just two weeks later. The facial: My friend's facial was great, she fell right asleep. Her only complaint is her esthetician said all of two words to her. My facial was amazing as well and I loved my esthetician's personality. She did speak with me, but only when needed or I prompted conversation. I found myself dozing often as well and left absolutely glowing. This was my favorite part of the spa day! The pedi: Our gals were awesome and we enjoyed great conversation! The spa pedicure was relaxing, and I enjoyed the massage chairs as well. My toes look great and are still going strong! The service: This was weird to me. When we first arrived we were directed upstairs to wait for our massages. There was no admin or anyone there so we sat around chatting in these random chairs in hallways waiting for someone to acknowledge us. That eventually was our masseuses. After the massages we went to the spa lounge and were greeted a short while later for our facials. Afterwards, we went downstairs for our pedis. Someone was finishing up so we cashed out while we waited. We both wished to buy some of the lotions used during our facials and with our package we were supposed to get $20 off a product. Key word, supposed to. The gal at the checkout stated that was a deal only for Christmas. We had booked in January, so stated how could that be true. In addition, she stated she didn't have a code to scan to give us the discount and would have to have a manager do that. Not once did she offer to get than manager. So needless to say we didn't purchase our items and they lost out on a sale. We didn't want to ruin all that feel good spa zen by arguing over it. It was a great spa day spent with a friend, but the experience wasn't that amazing that I'd be back specifically to this location. read more

I went in for a last minute facial. It was just okay. My skin was desperate for some hydration. The girl who gave me a facial was very physically weak during the massage part of the facial. I asked for as much pressure as possible and it felt like nothing. Also I feel like she didn't look that intensely into my extractions. It was just very mediocre. Not bad but not great. They need to take their license away it was absolutely awful the job they did for her. The artist cut her cuticles and said her " skin was sensitive ". RIDICULOUS!!! Was excited to arrive 5 minutes early for my 6:15pm pedicure. The receptionist was superb! Pleasant and welcoming! She checked me in and walked me back to pick a polish when a technician barks at her that she has someone else before me that she has not started yet? Wait what? The receptionist looked incredibly embarrassed especially since this was my first visit. The receptionist confirmed my appointment was at 6:15 and apologized that the tech would be at least 30 minutes late. Definitely not worth the money. The receptionist called me at 4:20pm asking me to come in early at 4:45 for my 5:15 appointment. I left work early and got there at 4:45 and was taken back to the nail part. The person who did my nails was still working on someone when I got there and was working on the woman until at least 5:00. So why would the receptionist tell me to get there at 4:45? They also don't tell you that it's $25 to take off your nail polish, so my dip manicure costed $85. I also scheduled to get my eyebrows done. My manicure went over the scheduled time, so I had to wait an additional 25 minutes to get my eyebrows done since the woman who did my eyebrows took someone else. None of what happened was the person who did my manicure fault or the person who waxed my eyebrows. It seems to be just poor scheduling. I won't be back. read more

Booked a one-hour deep-tissue massage with Matt; first time for me at this location. The woman at the front desk greeted me professionally and showed me to the spa waiting area, where there was dim light and water available. Matt greeted me right on time and showed me to the massage room nearby. He asked about any particular problems areas that might need work, then explained the areas the massage would target and in what order, before leaving me to disrobe and lie under the sheet and blanket. The massage itself was amazing. He focused on my lower back pain while making sure to target all areas promised at the outset (and helping me discover and alleviate other aches I didn't realize I had!). Room was quiet and cool with music playing quietly. I felt incredible by the end. Afterward Matt asked me what worked and if he should make any adjustments next time. He listened carefully, led me downstairs to the cashier, and thanked me for the opportunity to work on me. Just fantastic. I'll be back. read more

I Took my daughter to about Faces Day Spa in Timonium a couple of weeks ago for her first facial. When we arrived to the Spa, we were greeted by employees with positive attitudes who obviously love their jobs. We were escorted upstairs to complete paperwork for her services. Our wait time for her services to begin was less than five minutes. Kelsey, her aesthetician was sweet and excited to be working with my DD. I was directed to a lovely, sunny waiting room where I was poured a glass of wine and offered cookies and snacks. When my daughter's services were over she walked in the room glowing, a smile beaming from ear to ear. Kelsey was amazing and provided skincare suggestions and sample products for ongoing skin care opportunities. We will be going back again for myself as well as my DD and will ask specifically for Kelsey when we do! read more

i have recently returned to About Faces and have to say that Gabby was everything a client could ask for. The art of listening and being courteous doesn't exist anymore or is often fake. Gabby truly listened to what I wanted and made it happen. About Faces should use Gabby as an example of how to provide premier customer service. She truly exemplifies what that means in her actions and work product. The girls at the front check in desk - not impressed. They had my name confused with another client and frankly were not taking their job seriously. This is your front of house and you should have employees who exhibit professionalism! It would have been nice to have music during my service and there use to be a hair attendant that gave a massage while washing your hair which was truly to die for and made the experience 100x better. I was told she went back to Ecuador. Why don't you teach others the "art" of washing hair and providing a massage while washing. It truly was fantastic! I would recommend Gabby in a heartbeat because she truly exemplifies the art of customer service and made my experience truly exceptional!!!! Thank you Gabby! Whats that you say? You're a fashionable but busy lady with little patience for high-maintenance haircuts? Funny story, so am I. I was epically unsatisfied with hair cuts in Baltimore until I met Jenn Cubbage-McCrimminon and learned she works at About Faces in Timonium. You should know it took me years to find a great place to get my thick, unruly locks groomed. Half my dense collection of tresses are curly and the other half straight, making good looking, natural, low-maintenance hair in the swamp-air of Greater Baltimore more than improbable. I walked into the salon and told Jenn, "O hai. So, I'm a tomboy, and spend most of my time in front of books and a laptop, but I just want to do something nice (and pretty!) for myself so please make me look hot... and don't take too much off... and I don't want to have to always blow-dry ...and no I don't use product!" ... you don't need to be a stylist to notice the ridiculous nature of this request. Needless to say, thanks to regular visits and shape-ups with Jenn, I've gone through 4 major re-styles in the past 3 years. Jenn gave me The Thick Bangs cut more than three months before it became The Great Hair Trend for Fashionistas of 2008. Right now, I'm growing those bangs out and with the help of the occasional face-framing braid and a great cut, its not nearly as annoying as I thought it would be. Kudos, Jenn (if you're reading this). I get compliments on my hair on a weekly basis, and I have you to thank for it. PS- Jenn is highly trained with a resume longer than my thesis, so I recommend giving the salon a call and asking about her! And no, I wouldn't mind if you dropped my name. PPS- Oh yeah, and the salon itself is clean, relatively quiet and provides all the usual accoutrements like drinks, make-up, massages, etc. And they make you turn your cellphone off if you're being a Chatty Cathy.... very nice :) read more

I recently received the worst hair service I have ever experienced during my visit to About Faces for a color. Either my colorist, Laura, didn't listen to my requests, or we had a misunderstanding, but my color was so bad I had to go back for a re-do. The second time around was even worse. I was hoping to have my brassy red color muted down to a natural looking brown, but what I got was grey hair. I left the salon after 4 hours of "fixing" and had to go straight to the drug store to buy a do-it-yourself kit. They were nice enough to comp the service, but I DID have to pay for a $30 "trim" Laura pushed on me and which I was under the impression was going to be a favor. I have seen great work done by the colorists here, but at their hefty price tag ($145 for "highlights") and tendency to disappoint, why bother? read more
