This was my first time going to the Massage Envy Timonium location. I was able to book an…read moreappointment online the week before. They are located in the Yorkridge Shopping Center, along York Road and W Ridgely Road. I got a courtesy text message appointment reminder the day before my appointment. On the day of I was running late and called to let them know that I was on my way. Though I may be a bit late due to the traffic and weather. I was sooo glad my driver got me there just in time for my appointment. The front desk staff were very professional and polite. She showed me where the Relaxation/ Waiting Room Area was. I got myself some water and had a seat. My massage therapist Evan was absolutely spectacular! He's a very skillful massage therapist and his experience really shows. He had such an awesome massage routine. I've never had a massage therapist that has such a smooth flow! Everything was so well thought out and intentional. It's definitely my new "gold standard" for how a massage therapy session should be. I wish they all were like this! After my massage was done, it literally felt like I was floating on fluffy clouds... a m a z i n g :O All the tension that I felt in my neck, shoulders and back from earlier had literally melted away. I felt like a brand-new rubber band, bouncy and springy! THANK YOU EVAN! :) Afterwards, I asked about some good food places nearby to check out. And they gave me some great recommendations! It was a really positive experience overall, and I'd definitely recommend it :)

The business model and the availability of good therapists is a serious problem with this business…read more I was a member for 2 years because I needed continuous massage therapy for hip and lower back issues. The membership gives you a lower rate than a walkin appointment. For the membership they take $80 out of your account every month which goes towards a massage credit you can use at any time. The continual problem I had was finding a good, reliable therapist who was available on weekends. (I work full time so during the week hours is not an option because they aren't open late enough during the week.) The 4 therapists who worked well for me and my issues were too often booked, then 2 of them left ME and 1 changed her schedule to work only weekdays. That left me with one therapist who was very difficult to get an appointment with. Consequently, I had a stockpile of credits because I couldn't get in for the regular massages I needed, I was still being charged every month, and they told me I couldn't cancel my membership until I used the credits! I was able to put my membership on hold but they charged me $20 a month for that - and that money didn't earn me credits. Note, I was told by one person at ME that I could use any ME in the country but another told me I could only use the ones in Timonium and White Marsh. Either way, the one in Timonium is the one that's convenient. So, the model didn't work well for me and cost me a lot of aggravation, as well as money, without meeting my needs which was to have regular therapeutic massages to help address and prevent lower back pain. Massage Envy- this message is for you: (1) Be more consumer oriented and put your customers first; (2) Extend your business hours to weekday evenings; (3) Allow membership cancellations regardless of whether someone has unused credits; (4) if you're going to charge members to keep their membership open while people catch up on unused credits, then that additional fee should go towards credits as well (it's no cost to you to keep an account open so you don't need to be charging this anyway).

I have been a client here for nearly two years and feel the massage therapists working here are…read moreoverall very skilled and professional. You can't go wrong with any of them and they're the real reason to visit this massage studio. The massage rooms and tables are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms are sparkling clean, and the float tanks are a really cool experience as well. There is a beautiful sauna area that's very Instagram worthy. All of the areas where you receive a service feel very serene, spa-like, and upscale. Meredith is a lovely person and makes really good use of aromatherapy and long holds or pauses in her massage that make you feel super relaxed and zen. She is certified in pregnancy massage and does a great job. Marcus has super strong hands, is ideal to see if you're looking for deep tissue massage, and makes good use of hot stones and warm towels. Ben is great as well, did some passive stretching along with the massage for tight areas. Karen seems to intuitively know the perfect amount of pressure to use and does the best head and face massage ever. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the entrance and waiting area you sit in prior to your massage/float doesn't really match the atmosphere of the other rooms. I think it's a little too kitsch and cluttered and reminds me of walking into a small store that feels very casual and doesn't have the ambiance of the massage rooms. Unfortunately not very "Instagram worthy". There's a lot of stuff for sale that isn't directly related to massage or even wellness, such as bohemian style clothing, silver jewelry, wind chimes, etc. The Speakeasy room has relatively uncomfortable seating (there are two firm, backless benches and just two chairs with a low back), more displays of non-massage related things for sale (such as non alcoholic refrigerated drinks, candies, books, artwork, etc.), large displays of business cards and fliers for other local businesses, and dark furniture which just makes the room feel small and cluttered. You sort of feel like you are waiting in a shop rather than being a member at an upscale massage and wellness studio. The self serve tea display is really, really nice but just gets lost in the clutter/decor/fliers. And my only other gripe is that the infrared sauna is preset to a really, really high temperature (maybe higher than spa saunas I have used elsewhere) and I was told it doesn't allow for adjustments. I was excited to use the sauna but couldn't tolerate it more than a few minutes at a time. During my sauna session I simply had to exit the sauna every few minutes to cool off a bit. I realize this is maybe because I am a sauna newbie but I do wish there was an "intro to sauna" setting for those like me to use. In summary: great services, great massage therapists, kitschy entryway/waiting area design which is absolutely not a dealbreaker

Today I went in for a chair massage because at $20 for fifteen minutes and no tip- it was the perfect fit for my lower budget and immediate need due to a strained muscle in my back. A big thanks to the always welcoming staff and especially co-owner Bob who gave me a tour my first visit! Without it I wouldn't have known about the massage chair and all the other great services as much as I do now. See you all soon TMB! :) -Tina

I missed the head massage and hot towel treatment I used to get at the Aveda Salon I frequented in Florida. My first salon experiences in this area incorporated lukewarm hair washing water and no head massage. I couldn't do it anymore. Soiree knocks the hair washing service out of the park. They have their own crew completely responsible for washing hair, massaging scalps and providing hot towel treatments. My daughter likes it so much that one time I was having my hair taken care of, she just asked if she could have hers washed. They fit her in right in. You best believe there is no lukewarm water here. My haircuts themselves are also top notch. Dani is really good at her job. Not only with the actual cutting and attention to detail with my hair but also with the conversation. I am always sad when the haircut is over. It all goes too quickly. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is super easy. They send text reminders so that I am never surprised when it pops up on my calendar. I look forward to my visits to Soiree. I know my family feels the same way.
