    Chai latte

Service - prompt; friendly service Ambiance - spacious dining area; lots of natural lighting and since it was brunch, it wasn't loud except for a young child playing on a corner table Food - it's OK. Just OK. My sister ordered a chai latte. It was served w a black tea bag, so it wasn't very flavorful. We shared an order of pancakes and eggs Benny. Both items were good.

    The biscuit was quite dry.

If you're a brunch-er like I am....you might wanna skip this place. If you're not and you just want some coffee and eggs then check it out. The space, atmosphere and vibe is like something in between a Denny's and a cafeteria. The service is like a Denny's if it were hungover...slightly rusty and slow. The food is ...well....trying. My coffee was served in a dirty cup which was not a good start, but the actually coffee was not terrible considering it was house. I ordered the Sausage and Biscuit. So, here's the deal...if you're going to name a dish and it's one of those that has the ingredient in the name...you might want to make sure that the ingredient is announced and present in the meal, and not just merely stirred in with the gravy....bit of a rip off and disappointment, as I was looking forward to the sausage and just got mostly gravy. I wanted my egg done medium it was hard and the biscuit was very dry. Anyway...moving on. The French toast was ok but I couldn't figure out what the goo was, that it was decorated with, and its purpose (see pic.) The service was ...well....extremely forgettable. That was about it.

I thought the food was actually pretty good. I had the red chicken curry, husband had the seafood chowder and both my parents had the chowder too. Just a tip, order the cup of chowder my husband ordered the bowl (which is supposed to be bigger portion right?!) and it was smaller than the cup portion. Also be prepared to have garlic breath next day after eating the chicken curry bowl lol.(husband said my breath was bad!)

"Marilyn's Omelet" with multi-grain toast and potatoes

Pretty mediocre brunch experience this morning. From previous reviews and photos posted, my expectations were perhaps a bit high. Service was slow and absent-minded; we had to ask our server several times for coffee refills and I requested cream for my coffee four times before getting it. The coffee was strong and quite bitter, but a sprinkle of salt fixed that (yes, it really worked!). Food orders were mixed up and the food runner did not know seat numbers when she brought the food, so there was quite a bit of confusion when plates were delivered, despite the fact we were only a group of six. The server was apologetic and sweet, though, so it was tough to be upset with her. Sadly, the best thing on my plate was the toast and jam. I had the Marilyn's Omelet and it was quite bland. It looked boring, and it tasted exactly that. I wish I could say better things about this place, but the consensus of our group was that it was a disappointment. No chance I'll return.

Located in a great spot downtown the restaurant is fully accessible. The service was friendly and the food awesome. We enjoyed our meals and while the place was busy, the place was not too noisy. My spouse went back the next day for breakfast while I went to work. The waitress even remember that she drank earl grey tea. How's that for service. You won't be disappointed if you're looking for a a great breakfast at a moderate price.

Not sure what more you could ask for in a nice little breakfast place: great latte, comfy bench seats with a view of passerby on Robson, friendly wait staff, and eggs Benedict made precisely to (my picky) order. I definitely recommend it and would be a regular if only I lived here ...

While waiting for our tour bus to arrive, we stopped by Abode for brunch. I wasn't too hungry do I was looking for something light but filling since we had a long day ahead. Hands down this place gives you just what you needed. The plate portions were just right. I hate wasting food. The wait staff were mild - friendly all the same. I enjoyed my meal and the free wifi ;)

Was looking for a nice breakfast restaurant walking in West End of Vancouver. Happened to find this place and decided to go in. I ordered the Marilyn's Omelette and was not disappointed . I ordered it without potatoes and toast and subbed in avocado and a side of bacon. I also got it with chorizo. The caramelized onions spinach, cherry tomatoes, Chorizo and cheese were a delicious combination. I was thoroughly satisfied. I highly recommend this place and dish if your looking for a reasonable delicious breakfast.

B.C. Benny - smoked salmon, sauteed spinach, poached egg, hollandaise

I'm not understanding the less than impressive reviews for this restaurant so far. On our visit, we ordered the Benny that was on special (B.C. Benny) and the Short Rib Hash. I was impressed that the poached eggs were done exactly as requested - a wonderfully sublime medium-soft! The food is unpretentious. The server explained the menu for us thoroughly and gave us some good recommendations before we decided on our order. Although the overall service could have been slightly more attentive - it was understandable since there were a few larger parties. In the end, for what the restaurant is trying to promote in its tag line of "Comfort", "Cookery", "Coffee" - it was successful on all three accounts on our visit. A follow-up review may follow when we decided to try items off the regular lunch and/or dinner menu - but Abode is worth the consideration if you happen to be in the Robson shopping district during weekend brunch hours.

Much more modern decor restaurant than before, in this little known hotel that most Vancouverites wouldn't know. Seems to be breakfast type so another option. Main seating area on left so I sat in the nice booths, with communal table in front of bar. Ordered chocolate milkshake, not sweet or thick enough, nice touch with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Great patio seating for summer action.

We got a table inside, and the music was extremely loud (think club vibes). The music was amazing, but for the wrong setting. Our group ended up texting one another as we couldn't hear ourselves. Their food was really good, truffle fries are quite rich and flavourful, same with the beef carpaccio. I don't think the menu mentions it comes with these sliced toasted baguettes which were topped with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Service was slightly disappointing as our service was quite flat. Two instances, both not the fault of our server, but the bar had a friend a drink in a dirty glass, she ordered a clear drink but it was brown tinged, and had a weird flavour. Multiple people at the table tried it before we told the server that it seemed off. It was slightly off putting, but our server went back and got a new one for my friend. Second thing, they said they updated their POS so for some reason the person who had the most alcoholic drinks had been put in with a really high autogratuity, but it was strange because everyone else at the party had the regular autograt of 20% I believe and the only person who was drunk ended up getting 30% or something of the sort. Our server again, amazing and took care of it working with the manager who fixed it and came to apologize but the optics of that only happening to the one drunk person if the party, well you know. Kinda left an unsatisfactory taste in everyone's mouths regarding the service. Food was still great and so was our server, and the manager who came to personally apologize about the issue.

Everything on the HH menu is $5 3-6pm and all day Wednesday. We also got the meatball appetizer and the Baccala on toast. Bartender was friendly enough, gave some recommendations where to go for dinner. But then a very large party was being seated at the adjacent restaurant that the bar seems to also serve, and she got tied up pretty bad. We did see a couple come in and wait for a pretty long time and then just take off. And then the bar was closed for this private party at 7pm, and we had sort of planned on a nightcap after dinner in there. Fortunately we found PLENTY of awesome places to go after dinner so it was not an issue. While there during Happy Hour, the crowd was empty at first and the place filled up completely by the time we left. 30's and 40's crowd.

If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and cosy bar this is not the place for you. This is a place where Vancouverites get dressed up in their finest dark washed jeans. Am I being facetious - yes I am...but lets face it that's what passes for high fashion in this city. Celebrity sightings are not totally uncommon here, the servers are all friendly and quick to bring your drinks, and you're guaranteed plenty of beautiful people eye-candy. It's also a bar targeting a slightly more mature age group with their larger disposable income - so no annoying teeny boppers knocking back B-52's here and whoohooing it up. One shocking thing I discovered on my last visit to OPUS Bar, was that they aren't allowed to do "real" bottle service there. So if you order a bottle of Goose for the table, be prepared to have your server take it away and bring it back out only when requested or when glasses start to go empty - thankfully Champagne & Wine are exempt from this strange rule.
