abode cafe, located in the peaceful green courtyard at Hillsdon Road Centre. 24 - 30 Hillsdon Road.

This is a new Cafe in our local Taringa shops. And what a great little place it is. Located in the Courtyard area behind the Corner Store, you are able to enjoy the peaceful green setting with a nice aspect up to Mt Cootha. The coffee is terrific, Black Sheep beans and a skilled Barista means a really lovely espresso. And I so love the beautiful aubergine coloured cups! Abode is really really new and the plans are to serve food in 2014. At the moment freshly baked on site cakes and slices are served. And I seriously have to recommend the Sour Cream and Pear Cake - YUMMO! A range of made on site Jam's and Relishes are available too. Can't wait to see the food offerings in the New Year. So if you are keen to find a nice quiet spot, with quality espresso, great food and easy parking.....then find your way down to Hillsdon Road and Goldsbrough Road. It's a little hidden gem of a place. Currently trading every day 7am till 3pm.

A hidden little gem of a place that has great coffee and food. The team at Abode are super friendly and even remember your regular favourite coffee. Your four legged friends are also welcome.

Really fresh takes on classic brunch. I had scrambled eggs with capsicum jam on gluten free bread that had been 'buttered' with home made herbed labna. My husband said his mince on toast was so good he wants to go again tomorrow. My chai latte was perfect too. Really great service, genuine smiles, old school Cat Stevens playing in the background makes this place somewhere you will want to hurry back to.

    Savory mince

I've eaten outside twice and even just sitting in the area eating the food takes me away like I'm on holiday. You're surrounded by greenery and ugh the decor is very LA/Balinese vibes - it's really pretty. They make great drinks both smoothies& mocktails at breakfast time ;). They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, & coffee and cakes from Jocelyn's Provisions ! Biggest yass ever because JP cakes are so yum. Table service and wait staff are good - they do get very busy though especially on weekends I have noticed. I have never noticed irritability or rudeness at all, despite how busy they get the staff always appear professional and calm. It is more $$ but the food and drinks is 5/5 quality. Street Parking is available both on the main road and just in the side streets - it's a short walk to score free parking. I already know this is one of my go to places for brunch with my friends if I feel like having a fancy brunch ohohoho!

Most places who have the gimmicky large size, really water down their coffees and dull down the taste of the cakes. Not this place. For that I will be thankful. With the new renovation of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre comes a cafe like Foundry and on looks alone, blows out of the water the idea of what a shopping centre cafe "should be." They're pouring locally roasted coffee, Dramanti and the service is speedy. I ordered a Flat White and found it was far too milky for my liking. Note: my liking. Coffee is such a personal preference and on this occasion, I ordered wrong. Knowing the Dramanti Beans, I should have gone for a piccolo or long black with hmos. There's also the welcome surprise that all the food in their small display cabinet, right down to the bagels, is gluten free. Glutards UNITE!

I ordered a medium (mug) dirty chai and a turkey, brie and chutney bagel. Mum ordered a small capp, they didn't use the farmer's milk but that's okay I guess, not everyone's on board yet! The dirty chai was made pretty well though and it tasted pretty good with the soy milk they used. They ask for your name when you order and had heaps of people working on the machines. It was crazy busy. We managed to grab a small table at the very end and waited for a short while. It was pretty great. We got our bagel much later though and the (manager, I think) offered us another coffee on the house and apologised. It was all good though. We knew they were super busy and the gesture was more than enough. The bagel was pretty nommy... but probably not the greatest idea when I'm drinking a heavy dirty chai! They used real turkey! Nomnomnom! It was so good and totally appreciate it when restaurants and cafes use real ingredients!

We arrived at about 12:30 on a Saturday and were the only ones there, although it did get a bit busier as the afternoon wore on. There's a simple, one-paged menu and we went with the pea and asparagus fritatta (I'm still not sure about the side of Grain Waves) and enjoyed cookies and cream cupcakes for dessert. They serve Schibello coffee and my flat white was definitely more enjoyable than my iced coffee. Oh, they also do a straight cold pour over coffee, too. Next time, Gidget, next time!
