Lured in by the promise of Giancarlo coffee (one of my favoured roasters) I stopped here for a coffee on a rainy January afternoon recently. I was very quickly and efficiently seated by an athletic looking waitress in trainers who quickly ascertained my order before jogging off to have it made. She came back in record time with my long black and a bottle of water randed with the company's name and logo. I was pretty sure I heard her say it was 'complimentary' but was reticent at first to crack the lid, not knowing what sort of charge I might incur. The coffee was quite good -- complex and flavoursome without bitterness -- but it was making me a little thirsty for some palate-cleansing H20, so I opened the bottle. On paying I cleared the matter up. Turns out the water is free, but the coffee was $4, which kind of makes the deal seem a little less good value to me. read more

After a very long Sunday, with no food in our bellies, my husband and I dropped into 63 Racecourse Rd for some lunch. It was late afternoon around 3.00pm and a lot of the other restaurants and cafes in the area had closed up after lunch hours. Seated at our table the bubbly waitress presented us each with a complimentary Heineken (yippee). Feeling quite relaxed (but extremely hungry) we perused the pretty little leather menus and made our selections. I ordered 'The Dark Side' which was the only vegetarian option on the menu, a lightly floured bread roll topped with avocado, greens and grilled portobello mushrooms with a side salad ($18). My husband ordered the salt and pepper calamari ($22). It didn't take long for our meals to arrive and we eagerly tucked in. Good food, not amazing, but nice. Probably a little overpriced, but I guess that is how they afford to treat their customers with free beers - so I'm not complaining. read more

One if the worst dining experiences ever. Lazy Saturday lunch with a "chicken" Caesar and a couple of Cajun "chicken" salads. Absolutely revolting. At $18 each the salad component of my Cajun chicken salad consisted of some coleslaw and a few miserable lettuce leaves. Not a piece of chicken breast to be found but rather grisly, fatty, pink and grey chicken meat. The Caesar salad was the same - grey grisly meat. If someone told me the ibis population in the area had taken a hit recently, I would not be at all surprised. This meal actually made me crave hospital food. the best part is, they want to slog you $18 for this plate of pap. Needless to say I didn't eat it and refused to pay for it. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. It's about time restauranteurs realized that they can't get away with serving costly, substandard food anymore. We all work too hard for our money. Any place that starts with "we're giving complimentary half glasses of wine tonight" is going to get a good review from me. We had the most delightful and enthusiasm little Japanese waitress who was only too happy to insist on me ordering another glass. The steak was nice (a bit chewy) and served with a great salad and really good fries. I don't entirely understand the decor, it feels like DIY Australian themed but by a professional. What ever it is I really enjoy it. All in all a very pleasant experience. read more

Nice Sunday brunch on Anzac day at 63 Racecourse; I've been a local for 10 years and had never been. Really good service and an amazingly huge menu. I indulged in lamb's fry which was delish and pretty unusual these days. My partner had a more traditional bacon and eggs dish and everything was really, really good. The coffees were as good as any on Racecourse Road, which is good! The place was full and I can well understand why; we left agreeing that we should return for lunch in the near future. read more

Loved it. Meals are so budget friendly and quite generously sized! The service was friendly and best of all, fast! Our meals were out in no time at all, but we never felt as if we were being rushed. Let's talk about condiments! Oh the condiments! This is a Mecca of condimenty goodness! The table had a wide variety of jams, marmalade, and small batch toppings! When I worked in Hamilton, I staggered to 63 Racecourse every morning for a takeaway coffee. There were two other closer cafes I could have gone to but I always preferred 63 Racecourse because they give out free bottled water and they have a cheerful atmosphere. Even though I had a great job, going to work every morning was still a little depressing. Waiting outside 63 Racecourse for my coffee perked me up. They sold buckets of flowers outside the cafe in the morning. Joggers ran by and cast envious looks at diners stuffing their faces with Eggs Benedict. Dog owners strutted past with their fancy Dalmatians tied to diamond studded leashes in one hand, a poop bag clutched in the other. While I waited for my morning coffee, I would scan their menu which was never particularly tempting. I was always dubious they were trying to do too much with the Indian, Chinese, Italian and modern Australia cafe options. On the one occasion I did come here for dinner, I was pretty disappointed. The service was great but the food was just average, especially given the price which ranged from $15 -$25. In the future, I would stick to this cafe for coffee with friends for their welcoming atmosphere but I would avoid lunches and dinners. read more

Simply this place can be a mixed bag. They have specials which are well priced and then they have standard menu items which might be considered a tad high. But it has plenty of choices especially if you got a large family and everyone wants something different. I generally prefer the breakfast here but have had the odd lunch and dinner here but for mine breakfast is what they do best. Coffee is good not great not bad but good. Service has always been fast and friendly and complimentary bottled water is a nice touch. Personally I like this place the set up and decor is unique I keep coming back and so do a lot of others. sure there might be better Cafes around but not sure to many have the price for serve right like they do. read more

Delicious halloumi and very affordable--walking distance from the races at Eagle Farm. We were seated in no time and the staff was friendly. The menus are easy to read and and the food is really good. The flowers outside make it look like a florist, I would return anytime for a good lunch. read more

I love this place. It's a local for me. The thing I love most about it is the standard quality you always receive. There's always good service and coffee. While I strongly believe there's better places for food, the food isn't bad so if you're here and hungry you may as well. However typically I wouldn't come here for brunch, I'd choose somewhere else. It's a good little local cafe with free bottled water on the tables. It's always worth a visit if you're in the area. During the week it's packed with business people having coffee with their business partners or clients. It's a busy little cafe! read more

If you like glass splinters in your food this is the place for you. I've been a regular for some time now but tonight finished it. I found glass in my meal and called the waitress over. The scariest part was that the waitress didn't react when I showed her the glass in my meal - would have expected shock or al the very least faint surprise but she simply said you won't have to pay for your meal. What's going on in that kitchen when glass in a meal doesn't even raise an eyebrow. I had to rate this business to be able to post this review but I don't rate it al all now read more

Consistently awesome! Whether breakfast or brunch every time I go to a different cafe in the area I wish I had gone here! Even though it's always super packed during weekends this budget friendly gem provides the best & quickest service in the area. Coffee is always amazing and they have never stuffed up a gluten free order - a surprisingly common Brisbane cafe mistake! We ambled along Racecourse Rd the other Thursday night, looking for food. The road has more than enough uninspiring Italian places doing the usual stuff (possibly well, but it is still the usual stuff), and trendy excy places. 63's menu looked DIFFERENT and the place unpretentiously quirky. We dropped in and loved it all. My lamb salad was superb, tasty lamb without overdone spicing with beut fresh salad stuff, decent fetta and the nice touch of toasted nuts on the yogurt. My wife's sticky pork spare ribs were sublimely tasty, the potato fritter great. Our dessert of pancakes with berry sauce and berry icecream was a roaring success. The pancakes appeared pre-made but they were there just to pile the other stuff on. Both the sauce and the frozen yogurt icecream were sweetened just as much (little!) as I like it. Once again, roasted nuts provided lovey addition to the flavour. Service was just fine, food was brought out very fast, the dishes an interesting international twist on the underlying apparently Canadian theme, with low prices to top off the list of pleasant surprises. read more
