Few weeks ago, a contractor from Able Roof & Exteriors came to my condo unit on behalf of the HOA to perform what should have been a minor repair to the front entry door jamb. The damage was limited to the bottom portion (less than 3"), which could have been addressed with wood filler or by replacing it with a properly sized jamb section. Initially, I was contacted by phone by "Jacke" from Able Roofing & Exteriors and later by email from "Brian Rheinscheld" (listed as Director of Construction) to schedule the repair. After the contractor completed the work, I later inspected it and found the repair to be a makeshift solution that turned a small issue into a larger one. Instead of using a proper door jamb component with the correct dimensions and features (such as the groove for weatherstripping), the contractor assembled a patch using mismatched pieces of lumber - in a nutshell, the contractor concocted a disparage makeshift out of lumber in order to replace the lower portion of my door jamb. The result is not a proper door jamb and lacks the necessary features and fit. The repair is clearly inadequate, improper and disfiguring (see attached photos) and has created a bigger problem than the original damage. I contacted Able Roofing & Exteriors by phone and email, including reaching out to Brian Rheinscheld, to report the issue and request a resolution. I received no response; in other words, it was completely ignored. Based on this experience, one cannot consider this a reputable, respectable and reliable company. Proceed with any repair, project or construction work involving this company at your own risk and peril. read more

Get a new roof form them in late July or early August of 2025 and come May 20th of 2026 I have water coming through my ceiling at the back of the house. Call them to let them know and I'm told they're going to send a crew out on Friday. That "Crew" was one man who told us the apron behind the flashing wasn't installed correctly when it was done, and then he leaves. So I've read the contract multiple times and it says they're not liable for damage to the interior of the house. But because your subcontractors doing a poor job caused the damage it makes them directly responsible for everything that happens after that. I told them this sounds like the definition of negligence, they didn't agree and refused to do anything to try to keep it from getting worse in the meantime. Right now there's a flood warning for my county and it's Memorial Day weekend and the rain doesn't look like it's gonna stop. If I could give them 0 stars I absolutely would. read more

I'm sharing my recent experience with Able Roofing serving Central Ohio, to help others make an informed decision. Brian, a representative, came out to provide an estimate for sofit and fascia repair due to a fairly recent windstorm. During the visit, I was encouraged to sign an agreement on the spot, including a same-day discount offer, even after I clearly stated that I needed time to discuss the decision with my partner. That kind of pressure felt inappropriate for a home repair decision. Afterward, I received a $1,580 estimate for the work, but it lacked any meaningful breakdown of labor, materials, or scope beyond a basic description. When I politely requested a more itemized estimate to better understand the costs, the response I received was dismissive and unhelpful, essentially stating that the total price was the only breakdown I would get. (Stating "...If you want quality work done by a reputable company such (sic) Able The breakdown is $1580 for us to do the repair or $0 for Able not to do the repair..." For me, transparency and respectful communication are key when choosing a contractor. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on both customer service and professionalism. I won't be moving forward with this company and would encourage others to ensure they're getting clear, detailed estimates and courteous service. Unfortunately, I can't and won't be able to comment on any actual quality of the work, because the initial experience and follow-up alone were enough for us to continue our search for repairs. read more

working with contractors is quite challenging in nature, but able roofing knock it out of the park, as far as doing a terrible job and charging premium prices. I made a mistake of having my roof, basement windows installed. As well as the new siding. The process was an absolute nightmare, the roof had to be reworked as even me, someone with no experience in roofing could tell that he looked wrong. continue to have issues with each project that is the basement windows which damaged the structure around the windows after they were installed,and clogged the basement drainag as debris was not properly picked. As far as the siding, I was sold one thing by the sales representative name rick , but the company did not deliver. I even tried to contact the sales representative and he never returned my calls. I also escalated this issue, the owner responded one time in. I had to take the initial and follow up to get any response from them. At the end, they did not take responsibility for any wrongdoing and refused to correct the issue. I have filed a complaint with Wells Fargo, which provides financing credit for this particular as they should be embarrassed to represent a companyl with such poor work ethics and disregard of their clients. I had my Roof inspected, signed an agreement, paid my deposit, and my roof was installed 2 weeks later. The crew showed up at 8am and cleaned up and gone by 3:30pm. They did a full sweep of my property for any left over nails and did a great job disposing of all trash and debris. I had them install shutters on my home after the Roof project was completed. I HIGHLY recommend Able Roof for all exterior needs! read more

We just got our roof and gutters replaced by Able. Their rep., Zach Harmon was the most professional among a dozen roofers that came by our home in Upper Arlington after the recent hail storm. These fellows knew their stuff inside out. The whole roof job was finished by 2 pm in the afternoon. Given the size of job involved, it would be crazy to go with any of the storm roofers. Among the big ones, the most responsive was Able. Dealing with Zach, we knew right away that he was on top of his stuff. There is absolutely no point wasting time with anyone else in this area. read more

We had a section of the roof and chimney repaired and after 4 years it was in disrepair because of faulty workmanship. Able said it was no longer under warranty and instead of quoting a price to fix their work quoted a price on the entire roof saying there was softness in an area around a vent pipe. Two other contractors looked at the roof and said the previous work by Able was poor quality and they saw NO need for a new roof and that there was no softness around the pipe. Stay away from them if you want quality work. They are deceitful. They use a game-playing estimator who doesn't return calls ( nor does the management) and leaves omissions in the contract that could cost you more money if you are not observant. read more

I called to check the schedule because we had not hear anything from them and it was pasted their estimated start date. It is my personal opinion that I would not recommend Able. The sales person was wonderful although the color was not the best choice. I recommend driving around and actually seeing the color on roofs. The reason I am giving them low stars is to the clean up afterwards. I had my gutters cleaned after the project and it was discovered plastic wrap from shingles packaging was left all over the gutters and even a water bottle stuck in one gutter. It makes me doubt if they have no pride on their cleanup if my shingles were placed with good workmanship. I gave the company two phone calls for a response before writing this review. Able installed a new roof for me, the work was extremely sloppy. Nails all over yard, missing pieces of flashing, raised shingles, missing drip edge, and terrible chimney flashing. The project manager was mostly unresponsive and did not care if I was satisfied or not. The crew have been out four more times but still not fixed. Stay away , trust the reviews. I had Able install a new roof on my personal house about 15 + years ago and then last November make repairs on a rental house. Was so satisfied with their original work that I didn't consider anyone else for the rental. The sales rep's have always been professional and I have been totally satisfied with their work and clean-up. But in late March we had a wind storm and one of the newly installed panels blew off. When I contacted Able I was disappointed to find out the warranty was for only 90 days. The sales rep probably told me beforehand, but I don't remember him doing so. When they say 90 days they don't mean 90 + days. If you use them make sure you understand the warranty and file quickly. Am considering replacing my home's roof within the next couple years and the next time will shop for additional quotes. read more

We had 12 windows replaced in our home and the crew that did it was very nice, respectful and fast! They took time to make sure the areas were all cleaned up before leaving a room and the outside was cleaned up with very little trace of them being there. I have had three different experiences with Able Roofing. Every time, the service was professional and done right the first time. Got our new roof put on by Able. My husband handled most of the transaction. Guy went up on roof, took some photos, said we could probably get another 2-3 years out of it, but it would be better to get a new one before there were any problems. Tried to upsell, but was haggled down a bit. Pretty pleased with the price. Excellent customer service, I had about 3 different people calling me to confirm times, ask if I had questions, and basically had contact to the office and the person in charge of that particular job. They got the old roof off and the new one on pretty fast. There was one hiccup where one of the generators or something they needed quit working and they were unable to find one to rent nearby- was asked for access to an outlet in the house. Why they couldnt get a spare from the home office- no idea. Thought that was a bit strange, but they were able to get it working before I got home so I suppose it all turned out ok. New roof looks great, no problems so far, would use them again EDIT: I should mention they did an excellent job with clean up. I found maybe two shingle pieces smaller than my hand and ZERO loose nails. read more

I had a complete roof replacement done July 3, 2019, on my ranch style home. The crew showed up at 6:30 a.m. and were working by 6:32 a.m. They worked HARD and efficiently. My yard was protected with tarps. The temps were in the upper 80's, very humid. I told the foreman the crew was welcome to use the garden hose if they needed to cool down quickly and I kept a cooler stocked with cold water and powerade for them. When they were done...my yard, porch, and driveway were so CLEAN. They ran big magnets through the yard and driveway to make sure all the nails were picked up, and blew the dust off the porch and driveway. It was spic and span clean! My roof....BEAUTIFUL! I have already referred them to several friends and it's only July 4th. read more

Our roof was new in early 2018. We've had them come out a few times to check up on leaks. They took the time, once staying 4 hours to fix loose flashing near the dormers. Another time, letting us know it's not the roof that's leaking. During that visit, also helped us diagnose the problem. I've been really impressed by ABLE Roofing's communication and promptness. They are easy to schedule with, and always arrive when they say they're going to. Each time you call, they answer and say "how can we help you smile today?" and it does actually make me smile. I feel like they're really there for me. They gave us a reasonable quote on our garage roof, and whenever we're ready to move forward with that, we'll be using ABLE. They are a pleasure to work with, and are up front about costs, repair work, etc. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

I found them online for quoting on some windows. I got an appointment scheduled and ultimately I wound up have to take a conference call and left the house (lots of work being done inside). My fiancé remained to allow them access to measure quote etc. when he arrived he did not want to work with her. Consistently asking where her husband was and that he really shouldn't even be there without him etc. finally when he relented and did his thing he refused to give her a written quote or to email it. He would ONLY write it in a business card as an obscure number under his name. She pressed on a real quote and he wouldn't. Swearing there were discounts only he could get that made this number. He left. I just said forget them to move on. Days later I got a call from their team asking how the visit went. So I was honest with her and explained. She apologized. Said she'd contact some people and I even agreed to another quote. Fast forward a few days later... this same guy who showed up to my house calls me! Starts telling me I've got him wrong, obviously I've mixed him up, etc. flat out denies everything I told his customer service. I explain that I'd prefer to speak with his office not him. He continues. I explain that I really don't have time at the moment (IM AT WORK!) he continues. Finally I had to tell him. I'm at work. I really don't want to deal with this right now and get off the phone. Call back into his office and explain to the customer service that I never want to hear from that guy again! So here we are. No quote. Unless you count an number written at the bottom of a card as a quote with no indication of number of windows type etc. read more

I had to get my chimney reflashed to sell my house. My realtor suggested Able. I called Able along with two actual chimney companies. Able was the first that could come out so she highly encouraged Igo ahead and use them. They estimated $950. The guy that came out to do the estimate didn't even get up on the roof to do the estimate. He did the estimate from the street! His name was Danny Dawkins. To get this over with and get my house sold I went ahead and put half down and signed a contract stating they would "reflash the chimney." Before they started the work I received two other estimates that were less than $240! I received the invoice for the other half in the mail and emailed Danny saying" The invoice I received in the mail says "shingle repair." I didn't have a shingle repair. I also received two other estimates, unfortunately, it was after I already paid you for half down, but they were less than $240. This work was extremely overpriced. With that said I don't think I should have to pay the other $475. That's already over double the other estimates." He replied with "Unfortunately Kelsey, I don't know what scope of work the other companies were giving you. We have pricing on 3 different chimney flashings, that is small medium and large. Your chimney is a medium chimney and the difficulty of flashing that chimney from off a 28' ladder on one side. I have never heard of a company charging only 240.00 to do that work. We take pride of the work we do to customers houses to make sure everything we say is done correctly. I told you exactly what we were going to do to your chimney and that is what we done. It is listed as a shingle repair because we did do a shingle repair to you roof by flashing your chimney. Hopefully you understand what I have explained to you and understand that you signed a contract for that work to be done and completed." So my last email to him said "They were chimney specialist companies, not roofing companies. The contract that I signed did not say "shingle repair." It said you would "flash and counter flash 1 chimney." I hope you understand I will be leaving a negative review." I hired Able roofing about 2 years ago to repair a leak by my chimney. They only provided a 90 day warranty. The cost was $700. The chimney is leaking again only worse. There are water spots in my family room in the same area. I called and just to have someone come out and place a tarp over the area they wanted $550. To say the least, their work is not quality, and just seem to be a rip off. I will not be doing business with them again. read more

This review is for Tim Stump, Service Technician for ABLE Roofing. I had a leak repair previously and the leak appeared again, so TIm found where the leak was actually coming this time. TIm was courteous, professional and repaired the problem on the first visit. The shingles that were use by the previous technician could not match and Tim tried to use some to cover the repair. IT looks a little shoddy Tim was very assuring that the leak has been repaired and reviewed pictures of what he found. Should be a negative star . Had Able Roof come to house. Went over everything with sales rep. Wanted them to do the roof , facia, gutters and soffit . Went over pricing and paid half. Sales rep did not put soffit on contract even after me showing him the soffit that fell off in back of house. Now they said they won't do it. Did other work and did crappy work. Flat roof needs redone. Gutters were not done right , facia was not all done and they put facia over old facia in some spots and they did not replace most all of the facia and covered it up with gutters . All the drip edge is beat up. The job was started July 11 2022 and got I got on the roof after and the roof was week still and called the next day about the issues . It's nov 4th 2022 and as of last month I was still trying to get it resolved . Keep getting the run around and finally last week I told the project manager I was done waiting on them to respond. I was going to get someone else to fix and finish the crappy work they did and I was not going to do any more business with them. They will not be getting the rest of the money and if they are lucky I will not get the lawyer to get the money I paid them back. Their customer service is horrible. The work they did was horrible. I did roofing and I know what it's suppose to be like. The project manager dropped the ball on this one. The only time he would contact me was after I texted him a number of times before he would reach back. All around I would not recommend them to put a roof on a dog house. read more

The roof and gutters look good. The project manager was awful. He never reached out on when the crew was going to arrive. The crew showed up one morning and two hours after they had been there working, he called to let us know they were coming that day. They did a lousy job cleaning up afterwards. We found nails and trash all around the house. There were over 30 nails left on the back deck alone. Ended up stepping on a nail in the back yard going through my shoe having to get a tetanus shot. They did a crappy job with the drip edge, bowed out in many places and overlapping. I reached out numerous times with no response except sending me the final bill. When I responded that I was not paying the final bill until the issues were corrected was the only time I got a response. Someone finally came out and just walked around the house but didn't fix the issues. Their customer service was awful. read more

Plus I paid for 10 windows that was supposed to come brown but are white...There salesman was having a lot of problems with his computer when he did our order. It takes days to get your phone calls returned. The window installers were really nice. They installed the windows...I'm never working with Able again. You dont get what you pay for, you get whatever they want to give you. They are always in meetings...Skip the stress and choose another company. I spent over $13,000 on a new roof and 10 new windows...I'm supposed to feel content with my purchase, I feel stupid and I wasted my money. read more

Estimated my roof repair for $1200 explaining a significant portion of the roof and decking would be replaced from a roof leak. Showed up and two men actually worked on the roof less than 1 hour. A few shingles replaced and a piece of deck cut in. FAIR PRICE???? I sent 6 requests over many weeks asking for review of my bill and the work that was done. No one replied or offered to inspect the work in that time. They finally sent a message just before Christmas that the bill is non-negotiable regardless of work performed. At least the leak is repaired. NOT HAPPY with lack of follow up or fair consideration for work performed. read more

The roofing work by this company is horrible. They replaced the roof on our condo three years ago and it has leaked three times since then causing damage to a drywall ceiling. They claim they aren't responsible for indoor damages caused by their shoddy work. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone! read more

I bought a home with an able roof placed 7 years ago. I thought that a properly installed roof should be good well beyond 7 years, but turns out this roof is likely not properly installed. The roof is leaking in multiple places. Have had a few different companies out who are basically saying the underlayment placed on the roof is woefully inadequate and many aspects of a proper roof installation are shoddy or missing entirely. I even had able roofing out to look at the roof. The repair man, who I will add is very nice and tried very hard to be helpful, basically admitted when they first started installing cedar shake they used subpar underlayments and have since started installing thicker sheets because so many of their roofs were leaking. Also unfortunate is that apparently the roof only carried a 5 year warranty. The able roofing associate said he had no idea how to repair the roof his own company installed. Then he ran the project by his superiors and they said they were going to decline to repair OR replace the roof (even at my own expense). I talked to the gentleman I bought the house from and he said he had many issues with this roof immediately following installation as well. I feel the company likely had inadequate experience installing cedar shake roofing and now I am stuck with a roof requiring replacement 7 years after install and virtually no help or assistance from the company that installed it. Way to stand behind your product, guys. I would be hesitant to trust such a large investment (these cedar roofs are 20k + dollar roofs) to able roofing. I had new windows put in , the crew worked very hard and were very kind. The office people are not customer friendly . They come across rude . I asked the installers the amount I owed as it could change from my estimate. They said they don't take money , I need to wait for a invoice to come I the mail . Today I wake up to a email saying I'm late . I just got the invoice and planned on sending out the money today , I was going to have a roof redone but I am so unhappy with the office people I think I will go somewhere else read more

Roof was replaced. Customer service was great up until they had my money. With gutter guards in place, they removed them to put roof on and filled my gutters with plastic from shingles bag and tar paper that blocked my downspouts. When called Adam the project manager he gave me a bad attitude, said he'd get to it in a week or 2. Blamed everyone else. My gutters were clear before my new roof was installed. Poor service filling my gutters with roofing materials and not removing your debris prior to putting guards back on! Terrible service!!!! read more

My experience with Able was mixed. I contacted them as my current kitchen remodel contractor suggested I should. Got in touch with their commercial division who referred me over to their residential division. We had a leak coming into our master bedroom via a window seem and since Able tackles roofing, windows, and siding they seemed to be a perfect fit. First technician came out and just was not sure what was going on so he said he would setup an appointment with a gentleman who was more of a window specialist. Later that week we had a gentleman come out who said we needed to have those windows replaced to fix the leak. No issue there as our house is older and still has original windows. We went ahead and put 50% down and they scheduled someone to come out today to take final measurements. With measurements done we were told it would take a month before we would see our windows being replaced. This was not acceptable with a current leak and rain predicted coming up. The gentleman out to measure was kind enough to give the window one last look to see if anything could be done to temporarily fix the issue while we waited for windows to arrive. Well, come to find out the windows weren't even the issue. We had leaks in our gutters which were causing water to get in and all our windows needed were two small holes caulked and center board replaced. First technician said a window person would come out, but it turns out Able decided to just send a salesman instead who didn't even bother to check the outside of the house or see where water was coming from. Spoke to that salesman again today who still insisted we needed the windows replaced even though the gentleman out today said it was just optional for now. So now we had to replace windows, gutter, and add a new downspout according to the salesman. Upset with the situation I called their office. Their sales manager was kind enough to call me back same day. Would have expected a simple apology for not figuring out the root cause of the issue, but instead he insisted everything done was correct. He didn't seem to understand that I was frustrated that had the windows just been replaced the root cause would not have even been addressed and the issue would have just come back (either on the new windows or others that are underneath the same gutter). Give them two stars as a few people were amazing. The final tech that came out diagnosed the issue correctly and provided me with correct details. The contact given to me in their commercial division was also super nice! Finally the secretary who took my final call about how I was upset was very quick to apologize and understand... even though the manager was only quick to defend and only half-apologize for the misunderstanding. I now still have a leaking window after 10 days of dealing with Able and need to start over from scratch. Luckily I will be getting back all of my deposit and did not have to pay any kind of fees. If someone out there decides to use them, just be careful you're dealing with someone that knows the issues and how to fix them and not just a salesman! FYI, they call their salesman "Senior Project Consultants." read more
