As a new patient, I recently had several dentist appointments at Ablantis Dental. Besides my initial exam and cleaning, I needed some old fillings replaced with a crown. Everyone in the Ablantis office was friendly and very good at their job, especially impressive is the dentist / business owner, Dr. Cortadi, who is easy to talk with and an exceptional doctor. The service, a routine visit, with Dr. Cortadi was fine. The problem was billing and complete lack of response despite 15+ follow up calls over several years. Even though I had full insurance through my employer, the office made me pay in full at the time of service, saying they would refund me once insurance paid. When I saw that insurance did pay them, I had to call several times to get a refund check - no one from the office offered to refund me. If I had not been on top of the issue, they would likely have kept both payments. Once they did issue a refund check, the check was uncashable because it had been cancelled. Despite multiple calls, they never reissued the check. So I am out $273 despite having insurance for a routine visit. At every call, the office staff put me off and dodged responsibility. If I ever get a response for the proper reimbursement, I will update my review. read more

I don't trust dentists in general; however, Claudia and her team earned my trust and confidence. It's clear they really care about their patients and not just about the money. The office is clean and they have the newest technology compared to other places I've been. As a local who's trust reputation matters, I have zero hesitation recommending this dentist. Very unprofessional and dishonest. Just like another review described, you don't even believe that these ladies call them professionals.... Their demeanors, their tactics, like a group of chatty women but definitely have the ambition to get as much money as they can from everyone who walks in the door. I happened to have some knowledges about dental procedures. I needed to laser off a little bit of my gum for a filling to be done easier, which is called "gingivectomy", and it's a simple procedure, around $120 insurance contracted price. But both the doctor and her billing person shamelessly and blatantly tried to fool me and said it's called "crown lengthening" and wanted to bill the insurance/me for over $600. So shameful. Listen..I absolutely hate going to the dentist. I avoid them at all cost because of previous bad experiences. But that's not the case today! I am extremely happy to report that I've had the best experience ever with Dr. C and MJ. They both were extremely thorough, and provided me with important tips to improve my dental game. Nobody likes going to the dentist. Especially when it's not just an in-and-out cleaning. I had to go in for a filling and a deep cleaning today. Everyone at this office is kind and personable. Dr. Cortadi is fantastic at what she does and thorough in explaining what she is doing. Her staff was involved and helpful throughout the process. Michelle, the hygienist is equally as amazing. All were patient and kind, even taking a moment to massage my jaw knowing it's uncomfortable to keep your mouth open for an extended time. As I said, no one wants to go to the dentist. Not only is the dentist rude but she over charged me $200+. I went to her for a problem with my gums and she charged me for work she never did. When I looked the proceedure up and called to say this was not part of the treatment she returned my money but never said a word. I wouldn't hire her to mow my lawn. read more

I was at this dental office awhile back after I received numerous emails offering a good package for cleaning/x-rays etc., almost on a daily basis. After awhile I finally called and made an appointment. Twice I received a call that I had to change my appointment do to the dental hygienist not being available, twice. I told the lady that called me that if they were to cancel again, I wasn't going to go, I was tired of them keep cancelling me, never once an apology or an explanation that made any since as to why the cancellations were happening. Finally the third time I was given an appointment for 12:15pm and this time they didn't cancel. I arrived at my appointment before noon knowing that even though I was told, surely some paper work was going to be given to me. After I was given the paper work, I filled it out and returned it, the receptionist says to me "someone will see you in half an hour", which would have made the appointment not at 12:15 but way after 12:30 and beyond; however, no explanation as to why so much later from her, so I thought that perhaps the hygienist was running late so I said "oh ok". I guess I will take responsibility for not asking why things were running late, but, it was definitely her job to let me know, I guess she didn't want to speak. Next thing I notice however as I'm sitting in this tiny office, was that the receptionist that I dealt with, disappeared, she got up and went somewhere in the back, then after that, the actual dentist started to leave the office with another lady that also worked there and they were carrying flowers and a balloon and were going to another office close by. I thought that they would be right back and were simply bringing flowers for someone's birthday. Did not see them again either. Next thing that happened however was the icing on the cake as they say, the dental hygienist, the one that I was suppose to see before seeing the dentist was also leaving with another co-worker, and both of them were carrying a lunch in their hands, they looked at me and one of them said "we will be back around 12:30 or so, we are going to launch now", the door will lock automatically but you can still go out if you need to do so, and closed the door, leaving me all alone, with no one else in the office at this point, no one, just me, myself and I. Nothing else was said to me, as if it was all so normal to all of them. I couldn't even believe what was happening, how unprofessional on everyone's part to treat me in such manner, but totally normal to each and everyone of them, including the dentist herself that runs this place. Awful customer service. As soon as I realized that this wasn't a joke on their part, and it wasn't April's fool day, I immediately opened the door, and I stopped one of the ladies and said "are you guys for real?" why was I given an appointment at 12:15 when you guys obviously all know that between noon and 1pm is the time that all of you are going out to lunch? One of them simply replied with no understanding and no apologies, "I'm not the one that schedules the appointment". That was it, and that was all. They kept walking, set on a bench outside the office and started eating their lunch, totally oblivious as to what just happened, and to me, the customer, and couldn't care less about what just happened to me. I went outside for a minute, then went back in and looked at both of this unprofessional and careless people and told them " do me a favor and cancel the appointment for me when you are done with your lunch" I'm not going to stay here and wait until you are all done with your lunch and ready to see me. All they replied "oh, ok". I said "enjoy your lunch" and left. Since over two weeks ago now, no one from that office reached out to me, cared to apologize or explain or anything at all, including and mostly the dentist herself, the owner of this careless establishment, nothing whatsoever. I will never go back to this place of course I don't need to be treated like a second class citizen by anyone, but I just can't believe that starting from the dentist herself, the one that owns this place, to the rude receptionist and the rest of the staff, how anyone can give this place a 4 or 5 star review, when all they deserve is a 0 star if it were available, I can't believe that they chose to ONLY treat me in this manner, and treat everyone else with care. I am so thankful that I didn't have any of them do any work on me, I probably would have left the place with no teeth left in my mouth do to "I thought you wanted me to remove all your teeth" attitude, without consulting me first. Terrible and unprofessional staff all around. My opinion, and definitely an awful and uncalled for experience. The first person to blame is of course the dentist herself for allowing her staff to treat anyone in such a sad and careless manner. Shame on all them. read more

Honestly, this is the very best dental offices and dental services that I have ever experienced throughout my whole life. I must say that every detail is perfect and couldn't be better. I have been sticking with this office no matter my insurance or no matter their location. They used to be in Solana Beach a long time ago. I was less than 5 minutes drive. Now I am downtown and they moved to Encinitas and I will make the drive. It's worth it. I briefly shopped around and spent a few years switching dentists after every appointment until I found Ablantis and Dr. Cordati and her crew. 5 stars. When they moved from Solana Beach to Encinitas, they also changed what insurances they accept and I had to go through the slow and painful process to switch my insurance in order to continue with Ablantis. It is totally worth it. It can be challenging to get appointments however whenever I was having a hard time finding an opening, they went above and beyond to accommodate me. I can tell that they are passionate about what they do and truly care about me. Grateful. read more

I'm not sure what the other review is talking about -- from personal experience, everything has been very easy and straightforward here. I got my veneers from Dr. Cortadi and couldn't be more pleased. She is very gentle and meticulous -- I could barely feel the shots! Dr. Cortadi also has amazing bedside manners -- very patient and keeps you entertained while she's working. It's clear that she takes great pride in her work; she never rushed me and always seemed happy to see her patients. She addressed all of my concerns and even called me afterwards to make sure that I was doing well! I am absolutely thrilled with my new veneers and working with Dr. Cortadi was a delight. Claudia and her staff are the best. She has designed numerous crowns and veneers for me, and recently provided me with a hydrogen peroxide based gel treatment for deep pockets. I was able to reduce all but a few 4 and 5's to 1,2, and 3's by using the gel that they recommended in my custom trays every day for 15 minutes. I get compliments every day for how beautiful my teeth are. All of the women who work there are professional, courteous, and smart about the latest most effective ways to restore and maintain health in my teeth and gums. They are also very personable and confident and take what could be a fearful situation and turn it into a relaxed experience. I have been a client of Dr. Cortadi for close to a year now. I visited her office for the first time with what I would consider to be a mouth full of problems. She took great care to make sure that we not only fixed the issues but also addressed what was causing them. I have since returned for multiple treatments and would recommend her and her staff to family and friends. While this dental office does decent work, the way they run their business sucks. Three times my family had fairly major dental work done here, but they didn't tell us how major it would be until they started. Then they told us how much it would cost! We couldn't even afford it. This is the kind of thing that we should report to the better business bureau, but at least this is a good start. Also, they supposedly sent a referral for oral surgery for two of us in the family, but it never went through. We called two months later, and they said, "Of course we sent it." They didn't even bother to check to make sure. Then when we called Delta three months later, they said that a referral was never sent. Don't go here. The good dental work is not worth the hassle of the horrible customer service. read more

I had not been to the dentist in awhile so needless to say I was very nervous and within five minutes I knew this was going to be my dentist for life. Honestly I hate going to the dentist, I have switched dentists countless times due to various reasons. Now that I have found Ablantis Dental I do not plan to ever switch my dentist again.
