There are 26 ABC stores listed in Yelp in 1.5 square mile Waikiki, including 7 on Kalakaua Ave - one every block starting with 2020-2552. Open 7am to midnight everyday, and that and the convenience is why they are costly, even for Hawaii. POG goes for $2.99 for 32 ounces here, and $4.29 for 128 ounces at Costco Honolulu. In other words you are paying almost 3 times as much here as at Costco. Got to cover those late night holdups! Unfortunately while I'm a Costco member, I'm in Honolulu without wheels, as renting a basic sedan can cost $70 a day, with Hilton Hawaiian Villages charging $43 day to park. This particular ABC is located right outside the Grand Waikikian on Ala Moana, next to Goofys, across from the Ilikai Hotel. Surrounded on all sides by high rises, and right on busy 6 lane Ala Moana boulevard. This place sells clothing, frozen and canned food, tooth brushes, Hawaiian soft drinks by the six pack, beer, fruit juice, lubricant, condoms (not that I need them!), everything needed for the half million visitors to Waikiki each month. For those tired of losing their shirt at the high prices of the local restaurants, ABC has hot packaged food ready to eat, deli food, sushi, lunch plates, hot bento boxes, and poke, although I haven't yet been poked into trying poke. I purchased a 12 oz roast pork with gravy bowl for $5, and a 13 oz seafood deluxe bento bowl for $6. Walked 100 yards to the entrance to our condo and ate it for lunch. Wife didn't care for the seafood bowl too much, so I got more than one bowl to eat. ABC sells T-shirts 5 for $25. It is probably where my tennis captain got me my Hawaiian shirt a couple of years ago. I wear it every time I come to the Islands, with the shirt design shouting out a big ALOHA!. They also have the chocolate macadamia nuts here, but since I retired in June 2015, my fellow coworkers are SOL! Could have used this place when my ex-wife forgot to pack her panties on our first trip here in 1984, and used my underpants for the rest of the honeymoon! read more

These stores are everywhere and have a lot to offer! Alcohol and wine at surprisingly affordable prices. Beach needs and souvenirs. Find the coffee, salt, and macadamia nuts you need to take home with you. Save your receipts and earn free goodies. The grab and go foods are a great way to pack a picnic for the beach or a hike or to enjoy a really good meal or snack in your hotel after an exhausting day of sightseeing. Talk about just walking down to lobby of my hotel and crossing the street. This is a great location, of course expect prices to be ridiculous but that is the nature of the beast. Demand commands high price. Like $3 water, which was brand x water. Bought a beer and other last minute things. What choice do i have? One of the ABC stores that's not too expensive compared to other ABC stores in the neighborhood. They sell Tshirts for $5 each and 5 for $20. Their Mauna Loa 3 pack 5 oz chocolate boxes are only $12. Nice place to buy souvenirs and your daily snacks. The place is crowded at times. Save your receipt- if you total $100 or $200 or 300 in all your ABC store purchases within 14 days, you get a gift according to the amount you shopped. Bring your own bag- you save 15 cents and you also take a step towards being green. read more

Obe stop shop for everything you everything you need in Hawaii. They have chips, candy, liquor, drinks, medicine and nick-nacks.

There are so many ABC stores on the island. Read my previous review for the ABC at Hilton. Anyhow, this one is smaller in comparison to the one located inside the Hilton village. They do not have much souvenirs selection but they're quick and convenience if you wanted to grab something on the go. I also appreciate the fact that during the day, they'll have fresh fruits stand, such as pineapple and papaya grown locally for sale. Definitely coming back here for more local pineapples! read more

All Blocks Covered. The 7-11 of waikiki. This is a nice extra large location. Extra points for the larger alcohol selection than the smaller ABC stores have. A cheap and easy place to grab some supplies and drinks and whatever else you might want to snack on when trapped in the wasteland of Waikiki. Something to fortify your soul from the suck of Waiks. Side note- I'm sort of horrified that abc stores now sell poke. I have no idea who would eat it. Their sandwiches as stale as hell. read more

I love ABC stores. I buy clothes for myself here. I got a jumper $30 and a tube dress $18. I also get the spam musubi's and some souvenirs. There's a store on every corner and every 30 feet! :) Each store carries slightly different things or has slightly different sales so I like to go into all of them. If you spend $100 you get a free mug/calendar/bag, they give you a card that shows the different levels. You get different/more things at $200 and $300 too. I also bought a sandwich, some boiled eggs, etc. It can cover all of your needs. read more

While I find ABC stores convenient, well located with a large selection of items...However, they are basically the only place to go on Waikiki. I visit Waikiki on a regular basis and actually lived here for 15 years. I am still amazed when I visit how they continue to dominate the landscape of Waikiki, and have created a monopoly on Waikiki in the true sense of the word. I suppose that is why they do not need to give consideration to simple customer service. Today I purchased a pint of vanilla ice cream which came to $7.01, I gave the cashier a $10.00 bill, she asked me if I had a penny, I responded no, sorry. She then proceeded to open a roll open a roll o pennies and a roll of quarters so she could give me $0.99 along with two one dollars bills in change, I responded "seriously". While I totally realize she gave me the correct change, but "Seriously" had she given me three one dollar bills, I seriously don't think the loss of the penny would have bankrupted the Monopoly, especially when they charge $7.01 for a pint of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream?? read more

The first thing you should do after checking in to your room on a Hawaiian vacation is to locate the nearest ABC store. This is your catch all, when in need, saving grace, tourist, one stop shopping center. You could literally survive out of this store all week. Just think of something, anything you might need on vacation and they have it. We had one located one building down from our condo and we saw it as a perk to our accommodations.
