Yes, my J was being annoyingly silly. No, he wasn't exaggerating either. ABC stores are as scattered and abundant throughout Hawai'i as there is sand in Waikiki. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and frequented this ABC store more often than the beach. It's really a crucial visit for any Hawaiian vacation. And what more could you ask for in a part-convenience store, part-souvenir one stop shop? We got our fruit for breakfast, macadamia nuts & trail mix for snacks, sunblock, water bottles, snorkeling gear, toiletries, and even gifts here! Let's face it, they have EVERYTHING. It was refreshing to have an ABC store in our hotel complex in Hawaii. They were open till 12:30 A.M. They have lots of Japanese foods (somen, sushi, inari zushi, onigiri (riceballs). They sell boatloads of souvenirs like towels, flower hair clip ons, sandals, coffee mugs, hawaiian dresses and Hawaiian men's shirts. They have trinkets, posters, stationary, macadamia nuts, kona coffee etc... Prices are reasonable. If you want to save money, go to ABC rather than to the Hotel restaurants and bars. Breakfast as Tropic Bar & Grill ($22) whereas at ABC, you can get a yogurt and banana for about 3 to $5. if you have a family, stock up on snacks and either do breakfast and lunch here. Money can go super fast in Honolulu. Go shop early in the morning or late at night. Good ice cream stop. If you save your receipts of $100 or more, they will give you small gifts. Not sure if I got sick from some pineapple here or not. Could have been the luau the night before at the Polynesian Cultural center. ABC's are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! I know a 4-Star rating for an ABC Store is high, though I am speaking for ALL the ABC Stores on Island. It's a chain similar to the 7-11 and Lawson Station with similar items for sale, HOWEVER... they have much, much more for the tourist and happy local as well. I come to Waikiki Beach often and LOVE to go into the various ABC's there. I always find something to get. This time I found some Hot Sauce Dark Chocolates and a Sammy that was so large, my wife and I shared it. Prices are fair, considering you're on the world famous Waikiki Beach... I am sure every tourist and local alike have been to at least one ABC and have a tale to share... talk story and make your way to one. It's fun!! read more

This location was our go-to stop while staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Without leaving the hotel grounds, you get a clean and well-organized convenience store with a wide variety of snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. The prices can be a little high, but they're still reasonable considering you're at a resort. The grab-and-go food section had some nice options; we enjoyed a quinoa salad, fruit and cheese plate, and the ever-popular Spam musubi. The food wasn't earth-shattering, but it did the job, and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than a hotel meal. This was also a great place to stock up on bottled water. The souvenirs were a little kitschy, of course, but not excessively cheesy. Beach and swim wear is available in case you forgot anything. I'm a big fan, and would love to see more of these stores in other popular hotel/resort areas. read more

I love ABC, plain and simple. It's a sense of security for me. I can't explain to you the joy I experiened in Vegas when I was staying at Planet Hollywood and discovered an ABC in the Hotel! ABC has everything you need, and everything you want. Every time I walk to the mall, I stop and get an alo water. The ABCs in Waikiki carry every American and Japanese beverages you can think of. They've also got snacks and a surprisingly decent selection of wine! It's open late and another little gem of info, the ATMs spit out up to $400! That's a great find in Waikiki. If you travel like I do, or have an adversity to carrying cash, a one stop per month at the ATM where you can draw $400 is perfect! read more

This is for all the ABC stores and theres a lot all around waikiki and other touristy or shopping areas. ABC is like the 7-11 of hawaii. Except they have like everything touristy you can imagine, awful super bright aloha shirts, touristy t-shirts, calendars, magnets, key chains, you name it they got it. But the main things i love is, go there to stock up on large hawaiian water. Usually a dollar on sale for a large liter size. Man, walking around in the slight humid heat and bar hopping does get you thirsty and a few of these in your hotel fridge always hits the spot. I grab my soda, whatever i need, snacks, even some spam/egg musubis to scarf down later just in case you had one too many beers. But theres a reason these stores are packed is because they pretty much have everything you need. If you need to get gifts though, go to costco, or don quijote, but everything else ABC can handle lol. And actually the ABC store t-shirt with blue logo is what i wear when i go out to exercise. Pretty much the Hawaiian version off 7-11, ABC stores are pretty much open 24/7, there to satisfy your hungers and souvenir shopping needs. I'm all about the macadamia nuts, spam musubi and Hawaiian drinks, and this place has tons of it. With a location on pretty much every block, you'll never go hungry nor thirsty in Honolulu. If you're traveling with a family or staying at a hotel, this is a great place to stock up on drinks and snacks so that you don't get ripped off by the hotel mini bar. Even if you're looking for sliced fruit, ABC store has everything from cantaloupe to papaya. The best part for tourist shopping? Their gold card. Buy in increments of $100 and you get little prizes. I got some sea turtle mug for spending $100. Stupid, but I'll take it. You can't possibly go to Hawaii and not stop by an ABC Store. It's almost sacrilegious. read more

If 7-11 was built for tourists they would be called ABC. Everything you need that you forgot to pack and everything you want to bring back as souvenirs in one convenient shopping location. And even though they are gouging you you feel ok because instead of the $5.00 bottle of water the hotel charges you for, they only charge $2.50. Still, the customer service is good and the store is always full of people buying water and booze. All in all I recommend this place to those of us visiting and in need. read more

ABC Stores is the Walgreen's of Hawaii. There's souvenirs, drinks, snacks, toiletries, etc. I needed cans of guava juice, so I picked up four here for 79 cents each. I also got assorted macadamia nuts for $5 each and guava jam for $10. Conveniently located near the Hilton Waikiki. read more

I love the ABC stores around Waikiki. This one just happened to be the one we frequent the most since it was right across our hotel. I must have stopped by there about once to twice a day. That's were we picked up snacks for little day trips and were we got some souvenirs. For every 100$ you spend, you get a free gift. I got a mug so that it can remind me of my trip. My favorite buys were the Spam Musubis, the Sushi Maki Rolls, and the macadamia nuts of course. The prices are a bit high but you can't beat the convenience! read more

Located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village, lower level, near the restaurants. This one needed restocking badly in the refrigerated food section as the shelves were empty! We don't usually come to this one, but one night, we ventured here, as my husband wanted to compare pancake mix prices (the lowest price we saw, was $2.19 per package). There were so many people in this one (mostly japanese tourists), too. We go to many of these ABC stores on the island, so this one was definitely very busy and the food section needed more refrigerated food; never saw that before. read more

I like this store and there are couple in the area, super close together. It can be kind of pricey for essentials like toothpaste, water bottles, aloe, and Diet Coke, but that may be because of the cost of living in Hawaii. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is because there are other convenience stores (ahem chain stores) that offer better prices if you're willing to travel. My brother and sister keep eating the spam and rice seaweed wraps from there, so there must be something good about them that I don't understand... This place is beween a seven eleven and a rite aid (if you are from the main land). The deal is that is not a bad thing but it also isn't something to lose your shorts over either. An the same hand I find mysel sniffing this store out everytime I come to the Islands; mainly because it has all your sundrys plus a bit more (gifts, some food, liquor....all that good stuff...oh and dried Mango...you know the ones in the yellow bags SERIOUSLY I am pretty sure they are the reason why someone started to dry foods to begin with). This store in particular was very clean and the staff was very helpful. They also sold huge jugs of water which was a nice plus; well if you iike to hydrate with actual water. read more

This is my go to store. I LOVE ABC stores. The deals are reasonable (except the chocolate & mac nuts got to costco). Good place to get your last min souvenirs and trinkets. Also is it me or do all the ABC store have that wonderful sweet smell when you walk in. LOVE THAT DAMN SMELL!!!!!!!! This place and it's people are aweful. We're staying at the Hilton and I bought a floaty; at checkout because one of the cashiers recognized me offered free inflation. I go back in today and the employee says that it's a dollar. We went back and forth for a bit and bottom line is she wouldn't budge on the dollar. Even though I offered to come back later since were staying nearby. Even though I was asking nicely and told them that we have bought stuff north of $200 there, The employee I was talking to, started sweeping and walked away. If this is tourist area, they should train their employees better. Hawaiians don't seem to like tourist in this area and treat them like shit. If you are a minority you may be followed by the employees as if you were going to steal something. My wife and I were shopping for souvenirs, she was then approached by one of the employees asking if "she was looking for something" my wife answered just shopping for souvenirs. From then on the employee started following us as if we were going to steal something we were by the chocolates and he started aligning each box perfectly trying to be discrete but was watching us the whole time. It was very uncomfortable and it feels terrible. read more

Not my fav of ABC stores I've visited. I just went in there for water but wasn't impressed with the employees. Hum drum..nothing special. Also, the big bottle of water was .99 but we only noticed it (in a cooler filled with ice at the front of the store) AFTER we'd already paid around the same price for smaller bottles. This ABC Store (convenience store) served us well when we were guests at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for 7 days for our honeymoon back in May! We went there for sunscreen, bandaids, toiletries, a sarang, a pretty dress, ocean shoes, souvenirs, an underwater camera, etc. It's so convenient and has a variety of things! It's located right in the Hilton Hawaiian Village and is next to the Tapa tower. It's organized, clean, and the people were always helpful. This easy access, popular convenience store is great. Very close to most hotels in the Hawaiian village, and they have almost everything you need. It is a bit expensive, but it's great in a pinch. The store has a variety of brands for items, a liquor selection as well as wine, and of course Hawaiian chocolates and candies. I defiantly recommend stopping by!
