STORE: This was a pretty busy store when we went. It's a typical ABC store always fun to walk around and see the touristy items and knick knacks. Always tempted to buy something here even though the prices aren't the most frugal, but also not the most expensive either especially if you don't want to waste time shopping around for better prices such as Walmart. Located IN Whaler's Village, right toward the front. This is a typical ABC store. ABC stores are like ants... they are everywhere. They have everything from snacks, sunscreen, souvenirs, sundries, t-shirts, towels, small first aid items, etc... Today we visited this location because my husband was sick on our wonderful Hawaii vacation. He needed a decongestant. They did have one, but only one. They also had 2 types of cough drops. ABC is a mile wide but an inch deep as far as inventory. It is a good place to stop by for those little things you forget! 3 hour validated parking with $15 purchase. How can you not rate an ABC Store 5-stars? Their pricing, convenience and offerings are second to none. The only downfall of this store (for some) might be their location which is in Whaler's Village, meaning parking is not free and a minimum amount of money must be spent to receive a validation stamp. THE STORE: They're located just off of the parking garage right at the main entrance. Aside from the usual snacks and beverages, they also sell touristy souvenirs, beach gear, clothing, healthcare products and almost everything in between. SERVICE: Their service isn't too shabby either. I have always received friendly greetings and farewells at all of their locations, including this one. TIPS: ABC operates the Honolua General Store in Kapalua and Island Gourmet Market in Wailea, both of which have excellent hot food and deli selections. I don't believe you can find the comforts available at this ABC store anywhere in Maui, to include the larger stores. I am a frequent customer to this ABC location because no where else on Maui since I retired here 3 years ago will give you the best of everything in a micro version. The customer service, product availability, location, management and the Hmmmmmmm great selection and well prepared hot foods they offer daily. If you've been to Hawaii before, you've been to an ABC store. However, for me, this location was different. After an island-wide blackout, and while all the drones were waiting in lines at hotels for restaurants to feed them, I came to ABC to stock up on some necessities. I had no idea how long the power was going to be out and did not want to depend on the hotel for simple things like cereal, bread, water, crackers.... liquor, etc. Items I could keep my 4 year old happy with (not the liquor, c'mon now) if the rumor of 2-3 days of no electricity was true. (Thankfully it wasn't) When I came in though, it was darkness. But they had a ton of employees inside and each one had a lantern. They walked with you up and down the aisles to light the way while you search for what you needed. In all this, I received some of the best customer service during my stay and saw what true Aloha was. Everyone had a smile, made me feel welcome and I can't help but wonder if these power outages were a common thing they've become accustomed to. Anyway, loved their spirit here. read more

Great convenience store to grab snacks, souvenirs and whatever you forgot to pack. We've stopped by at least 3 times on our trip already - once for macadamia nut chocolates & water, once for vodka and another for souvenirs. Which reminds me... I need to work on those postcards that I brought from here. You most likely will walk in to buy one item and leave with something you didn't know you needed - like a Hawaiian Christmas ornament or a bottle opener shaped like a hula dancer. read more

This is a great place to shop if you're staying at the resorts at Ka'anapali beach. There's a lot of touristy souvenirs and they carry necessities like food and sunblock. There were some items I wanted to get that the shop in my hotel had but ABC Store had it for cheaper. I ended up doing a lot of my souvenir shopping here. There's a free shuttle that stops by Whaler's Village too for those who don't have a car. read more

This ABC store is a guilty habit, it's a bit different than most ABC stores and I really love it. Amazing selection of beer, fruit, poke at some of the most reasonable prices on the island. The parking is plenty and it's complimentary with validation and purchase. Most of the beer and bottled water is considerably lower than the grocery store and it's kept so cold that it's perfect for a hot summer picnic. Also awesome is the selection of pre packaged food, I know it sounds completely crazy but the well curated small selection of food is surprisingly delicious and fresh tasting, the prices are some of the best on the island. Although be careful it can add up quick it's easy to go in for a bottle of water and walk out with a picnic for four. It can be busy so and the area does attract some strong personalities so be kind to the ladies working the floor it can be tough sometimes. We came in for wine and aloe. We found such an awesome variety of wines and it's such a cool gift shop! We got some of the local pineapple wine - omg, so good! Since we sunburned we needed some aloe and I even found my dad a birthday gift! Definitely convenient. At least we know it's close to our hotel. read more

Normally, I would give these stores a higher rating, but this time I give it two, but I was thinking one, changed my mind. We had gone to the store a couple of days before and found small wooden bowls for $2.99. Came back on the week end and they bumped it up $2. How'z that!! Did the price of wood increase over the weekend. Needless to say my wife was bummed. How can a reputable store do something like that. Sales people were no help, just doin' there job. When in Kaanapali Maui we visited the ABC store to get food, snacks, booze and souvenirs. It has most basics as far as food but it's not a supermarket. It was great to have someplace to buy food the first night we were there no openings in restaurants. I would have given it a 5 but some of the staff are extremely rude and not helpful. read more

The customer service at this store is inconsistent or, better yet, nonexistent. Sometimes they card you, and sometimes they don't. I asked to speak with the manager considering I have visited this store 2-3 times a week for the past two years! She said she did not recognize me and that if you look under 40, they will card you. Never once, when my seven-year-old daughter has been with me, have they EVER asked me for my ID. Then to top it off the manager than said I looked like I'm 40. My in-laws love to visit here for souvenirs. I visited specifically with chocolate covered macadamia nuts in mind. And they just happened to be sampling them on that day - lucky me. The most unique flavor? Cookies'n Cream. The BEST flavor? Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel!!! Y'all!! It was a burst of flavorful magic in my mouth! Perfect amount of salty crunchiness to balance out the sweet. $10.99 for a 10 oz. bag. This is the same price we found at a grocery store, so not bad. The Husband and I came to ABC Store around 10:30pm on a Monday night to pick up some dessert to take back to our condo after having dinner at The Hula Grill on the other side of the shopping center. I was surprised at how busy the store was for so late at night, but it's the only store like this at the village. I don't like ABC Stores as much as Whalers General Store because I don't think their merchandise is of very nice quality but it does do well for snacks and drinks. They have a ton of cheap touristy clothing all along the back wall and in the back corner. I would recommend passing this up unless it was an emergency and you would otherwise have to go naked. In the front and in the middle of the store is more touristy souvenirs and things and so I would recommend passing this up as well. My favorite part of the store is the whole wall of refrigerated beverages along one side of the store. Nice and refreshing! I also like the couple rows of snacks and candy they have which is actually pretty reasonably priced. There was a line at the cash register when we went to check out, but luckily they had plenty of people working that night so they called over another few employees to help get the line down. I would come back here again if I was in need of such things. read more

But, ABC is a necessary evil in Hawaii, and you can pretty much find one on every other corner in the Islands. This place is fun like any other ABC stores that I've visited, the only thing is their staff seemed a little grumpy when we visited... and we were there 3 times during our trip to Maui. This store is a lot smaller than I expected. Nothing special :) I got a few things here and there. It's a good place to go to if you're in a hurry to pick up some sun screens and floatation devices. hahaha :) Oh and parking is only validated if you're dining out here, which we did at Hula and Cane & Taro so we didn't have to pay for parking. read more

The ABC Stores in Whaler's Village and Lahaina (cannery mall) were the main stops for us to get gourmet wine, gourmet coffee, local treats (like Maui Cookies), as well as swim clothes (the UVP swimwear) and other sundries. We took the Kaanapali Trolly to the Whaler's Village location twice and the Maui Bus to the one at the Cannery Mall in Lahaina. On every occasion, the people working the registers were very friendly and very helpful. The prices were not bad at all; and, the value of having such convenient locations throughout our stay made our stays at the Hyatt Regency and at the Hyatt Residence Club that much more enjoyable. read more

ABC Stores are all the same... Or are they? This location is one Thames husband and I frequent a lot when we visit Maui. Everything seems to be well stocked and very clean. The staff isn't overly friendly but they get the job done. If you're looking for the touristy souvenirs that you need to buy for family members and friends, you can get the majority of what you want here without having to run all over the island. They have the snacky stuff, the kitchen accessories, t-shirts, dresses, reasonable jewelry, lotions, post cards, and that kind of thing. If you're shopping for yourself you might need to stop by for a cold beverage, chips, suntan lotion, Chapstick, medicine, band aids, or who knows, a bottle of wine! ABC Store has everything you need at a pretty good price! The location here - at Whalers Village - is ideal as well because it's in the midst of so many resorts if you take a quick walk. Postcards, books, stuffed animals, tchotchke-heaven... food, drinks, suntain lotion, medication... clothing, beach towels, cover-ups... you name it, it's here. And it's probably a pretty reasonable price. I highly recommend picking up a sandwich, the SPAM-sushi thing, and some fresh fruit. I love the Maui Babe after-sun lotion which I can only find here. Now while this ABC store is just like the rest on Maui.....it is also very different as well. This location is at the Wonderful Whaler's Village near Kanaapali Beach. It is very clean.....well lit....and very inviting despite the fact that is no more of value than going to Wal-greens or CVS here on the mainland. My wife actually found a great set of hello kitty bags that she still has to this day.....and the staff is so nice and helpful you can't help but buy something...LOL. ABC wins the prize for most visited shop in Whalers village...at least for my husband and me. We came we saw, we came back...again and again and again. We bought the same water the hotel room warned us was $5 for $2 and T-Shirts we saw for $27 at the airport for $11. Prices are approximate but you get the point. Same shit, lower prices. We bought the necessities like Gillette razors, Maui Babe sunblock and Hennessy to the keepsakes like sarongs and macadamia nuts.
