Niva is amazing, I wish I could've thanked her but the shop was closed after we left Leilani's restaurant where my husband surprised me with the most beautiful necklace on earth. It was the 3.50 carat diamond waterfall link necklace in yellow gold. I saw it in the window and fell in love. I visited this store on my vacation in May and bought a pair of blue Akoya pearl earrings. Sheila Nelson did such a good job about educating me on the differences between the pearl colors that when I decided about a month later to buy the Hawaiian Heirloom bracelet with the scroll design I had my eye on, I called her. Decided to spread the love on my purchases. Purchased several necklaces on front street with Barbara. Stopped in at whalers to grab a few more gifts. Jaylou was a doll. She had two of my bracelets couriered, and had a necklace I wanted for my sis. Day one experience was great!! Upon return to pickup the bracelets..... disheartening. Older lady associate... maybe she didn't appreciate that I didn't have all my jewels on me (just got off a sunset cruise). For the record, pickup of two bracelets 7/29 8pm. Regardless of how much "worth" you portray when stepping into the store, you should be treated with respect. This review is way overdue! I've been meaning to write a review a long dang time ago, but I was emotional, pregnant, and became a mom. However, the experience I had here still lurks in my mind. Sad, but true. My hubby and I went on a babymoon when I was 2 months pregnant for the first time. I showed right away and my hands were swollen so my wedding ring didn't fit. My husband and I thought it would be nice to get a pretty Hawaiian ring to use while I am pregnant to replace my wedding ring. The lady that helped me - was fake friendly with back handed compliments. I never felt so uncomfortable. She asked me if I was having twins, was surprised I looked so big, and didn't make me feel good about being pregnant, sick and showing at 2 months. Hubby wanted to make me happy so we bought the beautiful ring without them resizing it because I did not know if my fingers would get bigger. Needless to say, I loss the ring and I randomly think about how bad that lady made me feel when people talk about being pregnant. I finally said my peace here so hopefully I can forget about this experience. Maybe it's a good thing I lost the ring because it is attached to such a bad buying experience. Ever since I was a little girl, I've secretly coveted a Hawaiian heirloom ku'uipo bangle. My most favorite uncle gave one to his wife, and I remember her explaining to me that ku'uipo means sweetheart in Hawaiian. I always thought that was such a loving gesture, and hoped one day I'd have the same. Now that I'm all grown up (ok, that's questionable), my dear husband and I were on Maui, celebrating our first anniversary. I didn't want to exchange any gifts, thought it was enough that we were visiting two islands, and eating to my heart's content. But, he reserved the right to give me a new bauble. Man, he spoils me! He likes to call me sweetheart. A couple of days into our trip, immersed in the beauty of Hawaii, him calling me sweetheart triggered the bangle memory. Never mind the multiple ads Na Hoku takes out in the Hawaiian Air magazine :-P I kinda coyly asked if he'd buy me a bangle, told him I'd try to find a local deal. He said yes...and then no. Being the way he is, he wanted to buy from a reputable seller. Bargain hunter that I am, I was thinking sidewalk vendor on Front Street. Ok, I get his point...I could've ended up with something that turned green after a day in the water. This Na Hoku location is a nice short stroll from the Ka'anapali Ali'i. We walked in, promptly greeted by Michelle. I bet if there wasn't a counter between us, she'd give us hugs! I told her what I was looking for, and she quickly brought out all kine bangles. I zero'd in on the white gold 8mm plumeria with maile lei diamond-cut scrollwork. It happened to be my size. SOLD! Michelle packaged up the empty jewelry box (empty cuz I'm sporting that bling!) with some informational material. She pointed out one card explains that the maile lei represents love, honor, and respect. How wonderfully appropriate! Another thing Michelle threw in: a voucher for a complimentary ice cream sandwich or Kiawe wings from Hula Grill...YASSSSSS to free grub! And she gave us hugs on our way out :-D read more

Incredibly rude staff!! Went in with a simple question about a bracelet I found in the ocean. Didn't ask for an appraisal, just asked if they could tell if it was costume or not. They completely blew me off. Said I should just walk up and down Front Street until I found another jeweler. I had budgeted $1000 to buy Na Hoku jewelry on this trip. Na Hoku ("Made in Hawaii") is like the Tiffany & Co of the islands. We visited the one located in Whalers Village. I love their jewelry, albeit pricey, but the quality is there. Koa is the largest endemic tree in Hawaii and exists naturally nowhere else in the world. It was used historically to make canoes and other items. It symbolizes strength and bravery. So that makes me a warrior princess, right? lol They're most popularly known for their slipper pendant or plumeria necklaces (which have been knocked off by many), but they have a lot of unique designs made with unique materials, ranging from pineapples to palm trees to sea life to island flowers. They have beautiful Hawaiian heirloom & bridal jewelry, too. Definitely stop in at Na Hoku to try on jewelry just for fun - wound up spending some $$$ here cause their prices and service are good. Ask for Shana as she's super helpful. The husband and I were in Maui last year and I saw a gorgeous string of dark Tahitian pearls in Lahaina but I didn't buy as I wasn't prepared at the time to pay a few '000. I've thought about that necklace since that trip. So when we walked around Whaler's and saw the same shop I had to go in and try on some necklaces. It was good fun! The pearls in similar sizes, colors and lusters all look different when actually tried on because of the variation on colors. The night we were there I tried a few beautiful dark pearls but none of them were quite right. Shana helped me and offered to bring in a few more strands for me to try on a couple of days later. She chose very well! When we revisited, there were 5 more stands to try on in various colors and price points. It's really nice to try on a variety or colors so I could really see what worked with my skin tone. I wound up with a dark grey gunmetal pearl necklace with a gorgeous high lustre. And they weren't close to the most expensive strand. (That never happens!) With prices they don't really discount. The prices here are lower than other shops that give you a stupid inflated price then give you a 'special % discount'. I tried on a similar strand elsewhere for $12,000 and they immediately said they'd give us 60% off. Why not just say $4800? Stupid. Anyhoo, go and see Shana. She's super helpful and will work with your price point. read more

Popped in to this store on a whim, my travel companions ended up purchasing some heirloom earings and ring. The salesperson was very professional, friendly and informative--concerning jewelry AND island stuff. I would recommend this location and this jewelry store. They have a great selection. Don't waste your time or money at Na Hoku it's cheaply made and they don't stand behind their merchandise. I retuned an item to be repaired and it was sent back with nothing be done. It's useless. Save your money and buy elsewhere. Not even a note in the returned package as to what they did or in this case didn't do. Very poor customer service. read more

I had seen the infamous flip flop charm in an in flight magazine advertisement for Na Hoku many years ago. Since we returned to Maui I decided I had to see it in person. We went to Whaler's Village and saw Sandie in Na Hoku. She was very helpful but didn't pressure us at all. While were were there several other things caught my eye. I ended up with something completely different than expected. Sandie was wonderful and the price was great! She even sent us a thank you card with an early Happy Anniversary message. Just fantastic! We have purchased from this store every year whether it be something for myself or my husband. Gorgeous pieces, knowledgeable staff etc. However, each and every time I have purchased I have been told that I need not worry about anything because they have a life time warranty on their products. Until recently I never had an issue or reason for them to cover anything purchased. TIL NOW.... In May of 2014 we were vacationing in Maui I spied a wave piece with inlaid opal -- very pretty. My husband insisted we purchase the earrings as well. and so we did. -- At the time I specifically asked if there was any extended warranty I might need for this purchase and was told "No" "No worries, lifetime warranty" Like a fool I purchased the pendant, upgraded the chain and purchased the matching earrings. In late May I noticed the pendant was missing the stone. I emailed the company in June asking the best way to take care of this. In the end I agreed to bing the pieces in to the store purchased at during my vacation which was scheduled for early September. Went into the Whalers village store. A very pleasant customer service rep named "GEN"looked at the piece and told me she couldn't see any reason they wouldn't fix it for free (as warranty work), she could see the piece was well worth it. I had brought along the earrings just to have the stones checked. When we looked closely at the earrings we found one of those was also missing stone. Gen sent them for evaluation and repair. I asked what that meant and she told me the company looks over pieces for evaluation and then decides on repair (warranty) or repair -- out of your pocket. I protested stating I had been told lifetime warranty. She said - yes that wold be true as long as they determined the workmanship was the result of poor workmanship. She assured me they would take care of me -- No Worries-- Hmmm. She could see pieces were well taken care of and so most likely they would I left the pieces with her. Per my sales receipt I paid over $4,000 for these two pieces. About 3 weeks or so later I received a call from Jen. They would be fixing the pendant under warranty but not the earrings. I was floored! I don't always put earrings in and I knew for a fact I had only worn them 3-5 times at the most. I emailed corporate and they finally agreed as a one time good courtesy to fix the earrings as well. But now when I get them back will I wear them? I'm thinking they are way too fragile and in my opinion no I doubt I'll ever wear them. I did politely as for a refund or store credit and was told no I can understand from their end sort of. Theses pieces are not put together well at all. I only wore the earrings about 3 to maybe 5 times and they were not going to warranty it. Add to this that they have already extended a one time courtesy so from here I have no faith as to what lifetime warranty means or even meant. I can't justify wearing something so fragile at such a cost. Lovely store -- don't know if I will every purchase there again though.If you don't want to warranty something that is one year out how am I to expect that you will warranty if for lifetime.
