Na Hoku ("Made in Hawaii") is like the Tiffany & Co of the islands. We visited the one located in Whalers Village. I love their jewelry, albeit pricey, but the quality is there. Koa is the largest endemic tree in Hawaii and exists naturally nowhere else in the world. It was used historically to make canoes and other items. It symbolizes strength and bravery. So that makes me a warrior princess, right? lol They're most popularly known for their slipper pendant or plumeria necklaces (which have been knocked off by many), but they have a lot of unique designs made with unique materials, ranging from pineapples to palm trees to sea life to island flowers. They have beautiful Hawaiian heirloom & bridal jewelry, too. Walk out of here with your wallet a few pounds lighter, but with a priceless smile on your womans face if you get her something shiny (you're welcome, ladies).

My beautiful new EFFY Starfish Pendant. Isn't it gorgeous??

Stopped in at Na Hoku in Whalers Village when we were in Maui and ordered a Hawaiian Heritage bracelet with Sandie.

Knowing this, I should have been encouraged to size up since the fabric clearly runs small and shrinks at least half a size or more -- even on delicate. That's basic product knowledge I expect from anyone selling their own line. The experience itself felt very ego-forward and conversation-heavy, and not in a charming way. I asked multiple questions about sizing and alternate options and felt more like I was interrupting a monologue than being helped. I don't need a success TED Talk -- I'm here to shop. The store has a one-stop, trend-boutique vibe. For me, the quality is just okay. Maybe if the fit had worked I'd feel differently, but it didn't. Wishing them continued success, but I'll be spending my money elsewhere.

And actually, they only notified me after I wrote in to inquire on status, as it appeared the dress had not even shipped yet. Meanwhile, I had also ordered dresses from two other vendors at the same time, and had already received both of those orders. There are many other vendors offering similar clothing with better service levels.

We talked for a little bit, and told me story about herself. She told me that she talked to her worker. I didn't want the worker to be in trouble but I told her sometimes, they need to know what they did wrong coz this can ruin their business. Phoenix was really friendly on the phone. And I really appreciate her effort of calling me and making things right. She is really dedicated to her business. She really cares about her customers, very rare to find such a business owner like her.

Finally have the time to review this place. So I have been collecting Pandora charms and I love…read moregetting charms from new places I visit. It was my first time on Maui so my tourist self had done my research looking for shops that would sell Pandora charms. I was so happy when I found a Pandora store but got sad when I found out that the store closed down... bummer. So I started googling for other places. I called the Ocean Center and they said they sell Pandora charms but we would have to buy the entrance fee to get to the shop and I wasn't going to do that when we weren't interested in exploring the ocean center. A few days came by and I would kept calling stores and they would say 'no we don't carry Pandora'. Finally called Hawaii Jewelers and guess what! They carry Pandora charms! I was so excited but also was bummed again because it was kinda too far from where we were staying. Over 50 mins away. But since I was SO desperate to get my charms, we drove our happy little selves to Lahaina. Our FIRST STOP in Lahaina was literally this jewelry store and I was so excited! I wanted to purchase a couple charms for myself and as gifts. When we entered, there was this girl sitting behind the counter. I didn't care if she was sitting because I would too lol but she did not greet us nor did not ask how she could help us. I had to ask her if they carry Pandora charms and then she led me to the glass where they had the charms. There are LOTS of beautiful Hawaii/Maui charms and I wanted to buy all of them! It was hard for me to choose because everything was inside the glass and I had to put my face super close to the glass. The lady just stood there, and didn't offer to bring out some charms so I could see closer. I finally asked her if I could see this charm (the one I ended up choosing) and she finally took it out of the glass. I wanted to look at other charms from the glass since I wanted to buy more BUT I was too shy and too uncomfortable to ask her to bring them out because she was just standing there, awkwardly. I wanted to make conversations because she looked like a friend of mine but she didn't show interest. This was the first time I felt so uncomfortable buying a Pandora charm. Whenever I go to Disneyland to buy charms, to Vegas, to San Francisco, to anywhere, the employee would try their best to get me what I want and to actually sell them to me. But since this wasn't a Pandora store, I guess the vibe was different. I ended up just getting the first charm that I asked her if I could see, because I just wanted to leave lol. She didn't tell us how much that charm was, she just straight up told us the total. None of these charms have price tags and from my experience everything starts at $65, no questions asked. Which is odd because I get Disney charms with bedazzle for that price but since this is the only store that sells Pandora charms, I guess prices vary. I just wish I could've had the chance to buy more charms with better experience. I understand this is a local store and I wasn't expecting a Pandora sales person selling me as many items as possible. But from my experiences, local stores are usually a charming place. My fiancé got my engagement ring from a local jewelry shop and we were treated nicely. Before we approached this employee, I even joked with my fiancé telling him we could get our wedding bands from Hawaii Jeweler since we were already there. But after having the experience I had, I wish other jewelers carry Pandora as well so I could shop with confidence and feel comfortable doing so. I understand some locals hate tourists but all I really wanted was to purchase some charms.
