I went to this school because a coworker of mine recommended it, and I had an absolute blast!! Janice is amazing! She is so knowledgeable and down to earth and has no problem taking the time to help you if you need it. And the great thing too is once you attend their school you can go back as many times as you want as a refresher! read more

I came to the Los Alamitos location, and Janice was my instructor. I really liked how she taught the class. Having bartended before, I knew that this was my chance to reinforce good habits, and learn new ones that would serve me well in the industry. Janice had a lot on her hands, because contrary to what John (the man who enrolled me) said, I was not with new students, I was thrown in with a class already in progress (I'm still going back to learn things, more on why in a minute). Unfortunately, it took me longer to complete my training, because the ice machine was broken. Doesn't seem like a big deal right? Kind of is. Without ice, I can't make drinks, and with 8 people in two classes operating in one session, I had to use old ice that had already been used. NOT the habit I want to form. Additionally, Janice was teaching two different classes, so I was completely confused by the different information, making it harder to internalize what I was SUPPOSED to be learning in any given class. EXTREMELY frustrating. ON THE PLUS SIDE, I did get a steep discount, which was amazing, however, I would have happily paid more for a class that had all functioning equipment (oh, half the glasses were not the correct sizes and kinds that we were supposed to be learning), and was all on the same page. I feel I could have walked away with more from this experience. I don't regret spending the money, but I would recommend you pay more money for better quality. UPDATE: John called me this afternoon to address my concerns. He seemed genuinely concerned about my experience, and I appreciate that kind of customer service. He says the ice machine will be fixed, and there will be new glasses on Thursday evening when I go in to get some more practice, so I'm really hoping to be able to fix a few of the issues I was having with my habits during class. Will update after T read more

Absolutely an amazing experience! Came in knowing just about nothing about alcohol and mixing... spent most of my time with Jan and some time with Austin. Both of them are amazing! My hat is off to Jan especially she is very patient, down to earth, and you can tell this is her passion... this is the place to be to learn mixology and to step into the world of bartending! I left today with confidence and the courage to go kick some ass! The fact that it's a lifetime membership is amazing, so if we need to refresh we can always stop by and practice! Thanks for the wonderful experience- 10/10 would recommend! read more

I'll give 100 starts if I could! I'm from CSULB, a full time student. Janice always be so nice to me. She not only teach us in the class about bartending stuff, but out of the school. It's very important to Work Smart but now hard, you want to save your energy to make more money. If you get 3 same order, think about how to save time to finish those order at one time but not separate I. Three times. To be a good bartending is more about personality but not only good experience. People want to talk but not need a Machine. That's what she teaches us! There are a lot of important things that you will never learn from the book. She has 30 years experience, and I love her stories. The stories are not only talk about shits, but also the funny way she share her experience and we learn with a funny way. Class never be Boring. It takes me three months to finish the class because I always busy with school, she never push me and let me know school is more important. I love her so so much. There's another important thing is, I did research of other bartending school price are come from $399-799. I was confuse why so much different. But its as same as scuba diving. You learn the same thing and costs different. After we pass the class, we will get the certification and their Instagram has a lot of opportunity to work as a bartending. Do not ever think it's a easy job. Whatever you are working on, you have to study hard and be solid. I'm happy I graduated with 4:13 to finish the drinks. Challenge yourself read more

Janice is the best, at first it might not make sense the way she teaches but if you just trust her, later on everything starts to make sense, she will teach you what you need to know and then some, also ins and outs of what a beggginer bartender needs the know. read more

I had the best experience with this school and the instructor Rayven. Her teaching methods were extremely precise and effective. Rayven has a great personality and is really helpful. The class was educational and fun at the same time. Rayven plays music and dims the lights and creates a bar environment while you're learning so it really strengthens your skills and gets you ready for the real thing. Definitely glad I experienced this class with her and all my classmates. I suggest this school and most especially this instructor to anyone that wants to sling drinks. A must take course!!! Whole class passed within the high 90's!! Also, the school provides job placement service for all students. Worth every penny!! read more

Honestly this place might surprise you like how it surprised me! I was looking for bartending schools in my area and this came up alongside other ones, I kind of felt weird with just about all of them but I took my chance with this one since they were doing a deal a couple of months ago. From the first day till the last, it was probably the most education and fun experience I've ever had. My instructor Jeff was so entertaining yet very informative!! I felt like I got the hang of a lot of things fairly quickly because of my instructor!! Highly recommend this to everyone!! Worth every penny!!!! read more

I had been wanting to try a Bartending school for a while but was unsure because of the cost. When I saw a Living Social deal for ABC, I jumped on it since it was like $100 off the original cost. I ended up doing the two week, M-Th course from 9am-1pm. I definitely recommend doing this instead of cramming all the drink recipes and skills within two weekends. If you have the time, of course. You get to digest the material every night and practice the next morning. Super helpful. I feel like I learned mostly in the practicing, not the studying. I was expecting to be instructed by more than one person, but we only had one teacher, Kim, who was very knowledgeable, practical, and fun. She gave some good advice. If you are thinking about bartending and don't have any experience whatsoever, it is recommended to take a bartending course to get your hands dirty and see what it feels like to pour correctly, set up and break down a bar, learn alcohols, etc. It will give you confidence that is essential in this field. And you get job leads. Keep in mind, it's not job assistance. You just get an email with a list of job leads in L.A. and Orange County and it's up to you to apply. They can also help you with your resume. Overall, this place helped me gain confidence and basic skills in a short amount of time, and I was able to get job rather quickly. But it was the confidence this place gave me more than anything. I am very grateful for this experience and have no regrets. read more

Janice was awesome! Truly a great instructor and easy to comprehend when giving instructions for any given drink/recipe. You really can't go wrong with ABC. They care about you succeeding and nothing less read more

I took a course three years ago at national bartending school in covina. I never took the the test because I moved to NY for a bit. So I came back to Cali and figured I would try to get certified. So I thought about going to back that the school I went to but a few friends of mine went to ABC bartending school. I saw a special on living social and decided to go for it. Overall I loved the school, it was easy and fun. But most of all it didn't feel intimidating. Kim is sweet, straight forward, and really cares that you do well. She's straight forward on how the industry works and gives you advise. The other instructor ... I forgot his name lol! So bad... I know. But he is hilarious, as a bunch of experience, currently works three jobs, two bartending and working at the school. He gives you ins and outs about the industry as well. And is pretty easy going. Both instructors are a great mix to learn from. They honestly want you to do well and pass. I would recommend this school 110% Plenty of parking. read more

A message from my dad Bruce Cannady because he doesn't have a yelp account of his own: Just completed the class and wanted to say that Janice is an exceptional instructor. Loved the class, had a lot of fun and learned a lot! It has an actual bar and you really feel like you're getting real life experience with the speed drills that the instructors assign you. The instructors know an insane amount of things about alcohol and the history behind the different types of liquors, from cordials to beer! They even give a lecture on resume building. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is serious about becoming a bartender in the field! :) read more

I went into this not knowing what this class would entail. Raven really cares about teaching and she pushes all her students. At the same time even when for example students struggled she encourages and builds them up. I wish more teachers were like her. She's also so passionate about bartending and loves to pass her knowledge on. I felt really great about the class and she makes it fun and easy. Anyone who didn't have Raven as their instructor is missing out! read more

Look no further! My decision to get my certification was a bit spontaneous and I am glad I did. I had very little knowledge of bartending prior to enrolling in the course. I had done some research on schools near me, called a few and decided to go with ABC Bartending School in Los Alamitos. I highly recommend enrolling with this school at this location. Our instructor, Janice, was an absolute powerhouse and was wonderful at handling a variety of individuals and their learning styles. ABC bartending school gave me the confidence and skills I needed to apply for bartending positions in Orange County. The program was just the right pace and was very hands-on as we were getting familiar with pouring from day one. Whether you have knowledge of the industry or you are an absolute beginner like myself, you will leave the program more prepared. I am going to miss attending our classes but I am happy to say I am on my way to start my first bartending position. I am looking forward to utilizing the skills I learned and rocking the world of bartending. Thank you, Janice and the ABC Bartending team. read more

Raven was such a fun and passionate instructor. I learned so much from her, she not only teaches how to make drinks but how she shares her knowledge and stories and she makes every class interesting. ABC Bartending Schools - My friend and I passed the class! Thanks Raven for everything! - Bartending Schools Near Me - Los Alamitos, California

Out of nowhere I decided to sign up for bartending school and I could not be happier with my decision. ABC Bartending School was located not far from my home and offers a unique experience for anyone thinking of pursuing a career in bartending. Our instructor JT was incredibly knowledgable and entertaining. This is a fast past adrenaline rush type of training so for anyone who isn't ready to challenge themselves this is not the place for you. I would highly recommend this school and getting your license. I can't wait to come back to the school for free follow up training and utilizing their website for job leads. read more

Janice.. The bar was set very high when I read the Yelp reviews for ABC Bartending School all because I kept seeing her name pop up on every comment. She lives up to her reputation to say the least. That woman really worked hard to be such a special human. She feels like someone you know, or better yet - someone you want to know. Her charisma and ability to engage 5-10 people in her stories for multiple hours is a skill in itself. Theres not many people I could say this about but she deserves all the credit. My sister and I took this course a couple months ago. The first day was rough. Apparently she was on vacation and the boss man wanted to keep the show going while she was away - brought in some guy who very clearly did not care about being there at all. The only reason why I give my experience 5/5 is solely due to Janice and Austen for doing their job to the highest level of service. We parted her with a gift basket full of goodies, that's how much we enjoyed ourselves. If you're on the fence about spending your time doing bartending courses, invest in Janice. It sounds like she's only going to be there for so long so you better get her before she's gone! I'm not dissing ABCBS by any means but you would be really fortunate to work under someone like Janice or Austen specifically. They clearly know what they're talking about and they make it such an exciting and engaging experience. I can't emphasize enough - go while Janice is still there!! It's well worth it even just for her stories and entertainment. She gave me so much confidence going forward with bartending under my belt. Thank you read more

I signed up for this with an Amazon Local deal just for fun. By the time I was about to start the classes, I was over it, but after just one class I remembered how much fun it is to learn something hands-on style. I took an evening class with JT, and it was a blast. She's a great teacher with lots of tips of the trade and a few great signature drinks too. She's patient, helpful, and hilarious. I definitely recommend taking a class with her - you won't regret it. read more

Everyone is so helpful. Jan has a very constructive teaching method, even if you're a slow learner or if you're not a great learner, the way she runs the class makes it so you can easily follow along all the way through and pass. Best Bartending school ever! I'm gonna miss it! read more

Scam, unfortunately. Great teacher, misleading "job placement" advertising. Upon graduating we were told to lie about having serving experience (which they neglected to tell us was a prerequisite for most bartending jobs). Instead of actually placing us, we were promised job lead texts for life, which was a false promise as well. Had a great experience but feel taken advantage of. However, I highly recommended this school if you have the capital and customer base to be an independent "bartender for hire" at parties and events read more

Only reason I didn't rate one star is because of the instructor, Ryan, who's a good teacher, super experienced, funny, and has plenty of stories and tips to share. Furnishings and equipment are run down and haggard. Bar is built too high, a lot of popular bottles aren't stocked and the ones that are have labels so worn you can tell what they are only by the bottle. Food coloring and water is used instead of alcohol, which is fine, but often the colors are imbalanced so that the liquor has the incorrect color, which improperly trains the eye for how a drink or cocktail should look. Workbook is out of date and misses a lot of current brand labels and mixed drinks. I'd recommend someone shadow a bartender and apply for actual work than going to this school. read more

Best experience I've ever had, like a big family extremely hands on. Kim and the staff here extremely knowledgeable patient and intelligent instructors. I finished the course in two weeks it was intense but amazing! read more

I wanted to take the course because my friend kept running her mouth of drinks, cocktails, liqueurs and spirits like an expert. I was impressed, what was more impressing is the money that can be made in Bartending. So I called and Kim made it very easy to get into the earliest class they could offer. We had 3 instructors in the morning class Ryan, Janice and Kim. All three instructors are amazing with different types of teaching styles and personalities, which is a big plus because these are the personalities you are going to see and need to prosper in the spirit serving industry. Janice is great at teaching at a fast paced "drill sergent" style. She is fun, out-going and have a New-York Attitude to her. She is very good at teaching speed and what the right kind of attitude and personality is required behind the bar. Kim is a sweetheart. She is very nice and patient and will answer every question you have. She is very good at teaching the business side of things like tips, calculations, preparing multiple drinks at once, and bar terms. Ryan acts more like a guru of bartending. He came from a long line of bartenders in his family so his stories and side tracks are very valuable lessons to take home with you. His teaching style is more laid back then the rest of the instructors but still learned plenty from mixing drinks and cocktails. I highly recommend ABC Bartending to anyone who wants to learn to be a good host in a party, to get a second job or a primary one for that matter, and to have a really good time, I know I did. read more

I had a great experience going through the bartending classes here! I was enrolled in the 6-9:30pm classes, and I honestly looked forward to this class more than my college classes. Kim was a blast to learn from, sharing drinking stories and laughs a lot of the time. A great part of getting certified here is they go over the process of landing a bartending gig and give a lot of helpful tips to do so. Even if you don't plan on bartending full time, this is a fun class to experience, and having a bartending certification is always good! read more
