First time in on Sunday. Family with the grands. Fun outdoor for kids, great tunes. Drinks were super. Food was so tasty from sausage roll appetizer to smoked turkey, pulled pork one of best around. Side of Mac n cheese the creamiest. Greens had nice kick yo them. Brussels were awesome too. Our server Daniel was super cool, very attentive to our needs with a 2 yer old in tow. He made very good recommendations on the menu as most of our party of 8 had not been in before. Daniel was spot on with his service and delivery of drinks. Meat under cooked for brisket for my personal taste but a nice portion and presemted well but only had three bites it was way too.seasoned it overpowered the natural flavor. Sadly side dishes not normal restaurant quality, and looked and tasted overly processed and far too salty, took home most of it to my pit bull. Dessert ordered was Banana Bread Pudding and it took 25 min to get to.table, expected a nice size or quality for $9 but it was the size of a tiny cupcake on top of a few teaspoons of pudding. I literally thought they ran out and was giving me a two bite sample to try for future reference. I was too embarrassed to give it to the neighbor who i was goimg to surprise since she had also not yet been to the restaurant (it was my first visit). Howevrr, it was the Server who was the star of the evening, she was SO amazing, funny, and engaging. She put up with my friend's relentless Dad jokes and was incredibly attentive, it made for a much nicer visit. Also i heard the bartender is always on point and bar has nice relaxed vibe and everyone friendly.and chill. I'd try happy hour for drinks and restaurant is very large with big outdoor patio nice for groups and kids or on a summer day. This BBQ place has been on my list for awhile and finally had a chance to check it out over the weekend. I planned my visit for Saturday because I wanted to try their Beef Rib and they only serve it on Saturday. It was phenomenal. Great flavor, perfect smoke ring and park, and fall apart juicy meat. I had the Brussel Sprouts and Potato Casserole as the side. Veggies were crispy and succulent, the Sriracha glaze was fantastic. My wife had a loaded baked potato with pulled pork, she really enjoyed hers as well. We will be back! read more

Tried this during a jags home game on a whim. Seated right away! Brisket sandwich was a lot of fat, wish the bread hd been toasted. Impossible to eat as a sandwich otherwise. If they aren't doing garlic bread or grilled Texas toast, never mind as a sandwich. I liked the sauce on that and the pickles were a nice touch. Fries were some of the best anywhere. Should have asked if slaw was mayo or vinegar based. Not a fan. Had an odd citrus tang. Vinegar based for sure. Homemade sausage was good. Didn't think the sauces had much flavor and I prefer a thicker sauce. The Carolina had too much of a kick for me . I ordered a draft and it really wasn't cold, just kind of cold ish. First time here and it will be the last. Ordered online and picked up, which was clearly a mistake. Multiple sides were missing and 3/4 of the food was cold. I live a mile from the restaurant so it wasn't an issue of travel time. Sauces were jumbled up in one container with no markings to indicate what was what. Every dish had pickled onions in it, which is not listed anywhere on the menu and we have a person in the house with an onion allergy so they couldn't eat their meal. The ordering system here is strange. Its like half order from the table, and then order if you're just wanting meats from the counter. But you still have to order your sides at the table. We had turkey and it was ok...flavor was good but I felt the portion size was pretty small. It was reasonably priced. For sides we had french fries (good, and I'm picky about fries) and potato salad. The potato salad had dill on the top and I felt like it was a little over the top but was starving so ate anyway. The menu is also very small and they only have 3 or so options of shareables/appetizers. I like the vibe and the decor of the place; and they have a fun looking back patio that I'd sit at if we were ever to try it again and it wasn't so hot. But this was definitely not my favorite place and unlikely to go back unless someone else in our party really wanted to go there. read more

As a local, we love the food at abbq - Atlantic Beach BBQ. The ordering process is unique so I'm going to give you my best advice to hopefully avoid any potential confusion on your part. If you have two people in your party, have a one person walk straight up to the counter and order and pay for the meat by the pound/half pound. Have the other people in your party go to the table and order drinks and side dishes. You can order sandwiches and salads from the table but the meat and sides are actually sold separately. Ordered delivery from them. Majority of order was not placed in bag or delivered. The Manager informed us that problem falls on Door Dash and that there is nothing that she would do, very unapologetic. Not as upset about not receiving food as we are frustrated with manager of restaurant that we frequent passing the blame onto outsourced delivery driver and lack of customer service. We were weekly customers who have also had large parties there. We won't be utilizing ABBQ any longer. read more

Not ready for prime time. I had ABBQ when they were a pop-up several times before the restaurant opened. They are great at small-batch cooking, but are completely overwhelmed by the restaurant. Everything -- meat, sauces, and sides -- tastes worse now. The brisket is overcooked, sauces are watery and lack good flavor, and sides are either underdone or not seasoned well. The format is weird -- 2 different ways to order, tableside or at the counter -- and valet-only parking is odd. I'll be watching over the next few months to see if they iron out the kinks. I sure hope so. There's a ton of potential here, it just isn't realized yet. read more

Well that was disappointing. Service was insanely slow, food came out cold, twice, and the waitress admitted the problems were because the manager had walked out along with a bunch of the staff. Was invited here by several friends who absolutely rave out the place, my overall impression was it was ok...but I wouldn't drive all the way to Atlantic Beach just to visit again. They've done alot of work in making it a "beach" place....lots of outdoor seats and a huge bar, i'm sure that Atlantic Beach residence love it. The place was super loud as there is no interior decor or sound muffling built into the interior so it was very difficult to talk with other people in our party. Again this probably fits right into the beach culture. At the end of the day it was overpriced BBQ at the beach, honestly the sausage and sauce are alot better at Bono's just down the street for about 3/4 of the price. Don't get my wrong I was wowed by several things, The French Fries, Mac & Cheese, and Collards are definitely something to right home about along with the surprisingly good Frito Chili Pie! BBQ places are know for their sauces and this was no exception...all were tasty, but the Alabama BBQ sauce was definitely the winner. True Alabama BBQ sauce lovers will find it to be a little less than what they were expecting. I'm not a Alabama BBQ fan, but I still thought it was the best sauce. Unfortunately that's where the wow ended for me. I started my meal with the Pork Rinds ($5), which were warm when they came out and still cracklin from the kitchen. The lacked seasoning, and for $5 the portion size was a bit small. I of course compared them to my favorite Pork Rinds from Woody's BBQ which are covered in a mesquite dry rub. They served the Rinds with a small side of Honey Mustard which again was very good. Dinner consisted of a two meat combo that came with two sides ($19) for the price I thought the portion size was ok. I chose Sausage and Brisket, accompied by Fries and Collard Greens. Both the fries and Collards were my favorite part of the meal. The fries were super tasty and seemed fresh and the collards (Though served in a paper container, which wouldn't be my first choice) were spicy and tasty with alot of meat in them. The brisket and the sausage however were kind of a let down, the sausage was chewy and really didn't have alot of flavor. The brisket came in a huge Slab and while I asked for it to be fatty and moist it wasn't. I would have preferred to have the brisket from Monroe's or Mojo's again for 3/4 of the price. If invited I would definitely go back, however I would steer clear of the BBQ and just get the Sides. read more

The place is beautiful and we are so glad to have a BBQ place near the AB/NB corner! Loved the meat in the brisket sandwich. It was literally cooked to perfection! Unfortunately the food is a bit pricey considering the sandwiches don't come with sides, and we were not super excited about of any of the BBQ sauces. Husband said he's had better BBQ from (*shudders*) Sonny's. All in all, I think this place is more of a beer garden/bar that also happens to have a BBQ counter. read more

They might have the best brisket I've ever had... I'm excited to bring people there to try it. I've wished that we had a genuine BBQ place at the beach for years, and now we do. I had the "1513" sandwich and it was very good. But they let me try just the brisket alone, and it was mouth watering. Falls apart in your mouth. I had to ask how long they smoke it for...answer: 36 hours. Low and slow is the only way to cook brisket and they have figured it out! The only strange things are the ordering method and parking. You can order at the counter or take a seat, they greeted me there and explained the process, but it's not intuitive. And parking is valet, which is good b/c there is very limited parking and quite a bit of seating. I didn't see a bike rack there, but I'll be headed back via bike for sure. read more

Just tried this place for the first time last night and it was amazing! Started with complementary valet parking and they have an amazing outdoor seating area. We ordered the frito pie appetizer, the 1513 sandwich, brisket plate, collard greens and potato casserole. Some of best BBQ I've had in Jax. Everything was amazing! We usually order from another local BBQ restaurant in Palm Valley, but didn't feel like driving 30 minutes in the rain. ABBQ is 2 minutes from home so we figured we'd try it since it had decent reviews. We opted to do takeout and ordered online (which is a nice feature) but when we picked up our order at the designated time it was cold. Not only was it cold, it was a laughably small amount of food for what we paid and the flavors tasted off on the items that actually had any flavor. Never had brisket that lacked flavor until today. We went here because of a recommendation but we were not impressed. The good - the building is nice, modern and clean; there isn't much parking but they have valet. Bad - The ordering process is a little confusing; if you sit down first I guess you can only order sandwiches and sides but if you go to the counter, you can order everything. I got pulled pork and baked beans and my husband got beef and potato casserole. The meat was not bad but I did not care for the baked beans. My husband liked his meal. I went to this place when it opened and it was just a mess. The food wasn't good and they didn't know what direction they were going in. Fast forward, went today with a buddy and it was great. Friendly atmosphere, plenty of TVs, and great staff. The brisket is money. Either lean or fatty (get the fatty). Coleslaw is vinegar based and very flavorful. Potato Salad is very creamy and on point. Cold beers and good mixed drinks. Happy hour Tuesday-Sunday 4-6:30 PM. I will certainly go again and if you live in the area, you will not be disappointed. During quarantine, we often picked up to-go food & drinks via bicycle with kids in tow. Jessica was always so great with her positive can-do attitude and was super patient with our kids. She was always so thoughtful to refill lemonades when dropped on the pavement and always offered the kids a handful of french fries to tide them over while we waited for our food. Not only was she super delightful to chat with, she was always upbeat and had a smile on her face. These small efforts meant a lot. Her customer service rocks. Noteing other customer service rock stars - We were also always greeted by bartenders Dillon & Jason and the new manager Kevin. Every time we pulled up Dillon, Jason and Kevin always came out to make sure our day was going well, make sure our drinks were on point and that we were happy with everything. Your staff should be commended on their efforts and I'm 100% sure other customers feel the same way. We look forward to a great summer at ABBQ with the kids running around out back while we enjoy a fun frozen drink. We decided to venture away from our usual beach BBQ place to try ABBQ. Let's just say, we will be going back to The Bearded Pig from now on. The food was just Meh. As a vegetarian they had very limited options. Most vegetarians that I know don't like the Impossible Burgers so it's not really a good option. The sides were not great either.
