Went with a friend who is a wine club member to the wine club pick up event last Sunday. I had…read morealways been meaning to go to this winery, but never did until now. I sure missed out on a lot. Their event was made extra special by the staff, as they were all knowledgeable and well-versed in the food and wine pairings that were offered at this event. I was particularly impressed as to how they were keeping the bottles of white wine cold by using ice that they had frozen flowers in. It was a beautiful presentation. There was a brick oven pizza set up and the pizzas were delicious. I am not sure if they are there all the time or because this was a special event. The wines are on point with each presentation and the outside area is spectacular. The inside area can hold a lot of people, especially on rainy days and very nicely decorated with lots of large windows. I can hardly wait to go back there again when all of the roses around the outside patio area are in Bloom! I will be bringing my small senior dog next time I visit their winery as they are dog friendly.

We went on a Sunday and did not have reservations and our group of 4 were able to be seated right away. Two of us did the red flight and one did the white while our driver sipped a coke. We had the Mediterranean plate and I would not recommend it, however the pickled asparagus and onions were delicious. Rest felt like it was left over from many days before. Wine was tasty and interesting to try a Chardonnay from the region. My favorite was the Sauvignon Blanc. Coolest part was seeing all the other tables bringing in their own boards and snacks. What a beautiful place to taste or have a glass of wine with your own assortment of goodies. Staff did a nice job explaining the wines and what made them unique with grapes from the region. Truth be told the name of the winery is what sold us on checking it out.

King Estate Winery - Cheeseboard $55 it's very testy and big portion. I recommend

Best half hour drive from Eugene. On a beautiful crisp cold sunny day the winding roads and the…read moreopen fields and a hillside that makes you want to sing to the music on the radio. I went on Sunday to pick up an order I placed. The Tasting Room in the main house is still closed for renovations so they were hosting on the event space. Michael whom I had met on my first visit was there as was a new manager, Bradley. There was time for some great conversation about a champagne tasting I had just been on Friday and that's how I learned that Brad was a certified sommelier who was in fact very familiar with the champagne I had been tasting. Different somms have different strengths so it was enjoyable to reflect on the champagne I have been able to taste with someone who was familiar with many of the houses, like Louis Roderer and Bereche et Fils, etc. I came to pick up several bottles of the 2018 Inscription, which was the inaugural vintage for what has now become a top award-winning wine in its category according to Wine Enthusiast. The 2022 Inscription Pinot Noir took top place out of 100 affordable wines reviewed by Wine Enthusiast. I had come across it in a Cannon Beach Tasting Room and everyone I share shared it with that night was over the moon -- abandoning their own pinots after they had tasted this one. Discovering it was King Estate, just 30 mins away, decided to purchase directly from the winery. (Though I took the last five bottles of the 2022 available, happy to report that Trader Joe's has the 2023 Inscription. I would run not walk to store up on those.) Michael poured me the Bradshaw, which I had not tasted previously. Then the Stone's Throw which I had enjoyed the most on my last visit. I decided to open a bottle of the 2018 to see how many I wanted to take home, and then decided to open a bottle of the 2022 I just purchased because I wanted to compare. I invited Tasting and response responses from both Michael and Bradley who were helpful. Ordered some truffle fries which were perfectly done, with shaved Parmesan garnish. The sun was shining and there were some beautiful photos to be taken with the gemlike ruby colors of the wines. One of the best solo afternoons I've enjoyed in the PNW in a long time. Highly recommend you visit.

In the summer, they have a really nice patio to sit out and enjoy the wines with a fantastic view. If you prefer to just open a bottle of wine, that works too. They have a menu available with some great food on it. Be sure to check when food service stops during the day, if you are arriving later. Customer service was top notch and we really enjoyed our time there.
