Was planning a last minute dinner with friends who had just moved back to Jax and didn't have a lot of options you know since last minute but was told to check up AB Kitchen and glad we did. I have not even heard of this place. We were seated and checked out the drinks and appetizers. Quickly found out that their cocktails were wine based which I wasn't expecting so I just got a beer. Just a heads for those who want a real cocktail. There were a number of appetizers that sounded real good and they had specials too. We went with one of the specials which was the Asian Pork Croquettes and then did something crazy for the other app....We really liked the sound of the Crab Fried Rice and fried rice is easy to share so we did that as an app too (It's one of the entrée house specialties). Our appetizers came out pretty quick and I have never seen and order of fried rice disappear quicker. I will say it wasn't loaded with crab but this did had so much flavor. The Asian Pork Croquettes were also very good but the Crab Fried Rice took that round. Would going over entrees there was once again that sounded really good but once I saw the Seared Scallop Coconut Red Curry I knew I had to have it. Youn had me at Seared Scallops and Red Curry which are both things I normally jump to so together I have to have it. Oh did I mention it's $27 and comes with 5 scallops?!?!?! You're not beating that in 2023. The scallops were cooked perfectly and had a nice sear as well. The curry was full of flavor a little on the sweeter then spicy side but I very much enjoyed it. AB Kitchen is a lovely little spot in Atlantic Beach to enjoy a delicious meal that doesn't leave you feeling bleh from grease and over processed food. That being said, you're going to pay for quality but totally worth it. Like many of the restaurants in the area, I'd recommend making a reservation especially if you're wanting to dine on a Friday or Saturday. It also gets extremely loud, which makes conversation even for a table of 4 very, "What?" and "I didn't hear you." Favorite Apps include the Brussels (when they have it on special) and the Shrimp Toast. Favorite entree by far is the Chicken Feta Meatballs. The Chimichurri steak is good but has been inconsistent which always leads me back to the meatballs. Important to Note: AB Kitchen does not have a liquor license and all cocktails are wine based. They taste good, but they are pricey, mostly ice, and have very little alcohol. I'd suggest sticking to wine or beer instead. read more

Tasty calamari just needed a tad longer in the fryer to get that crisp. But oh the flavor and sauce was on point. I enjoyed the ceviche octopus dish which I had as a main. It was good and extra spicy. And dessert yes please. The lemon olive cake was very tasty and I stole a few yummy bites of the fruit cobbler from my friend too. Both options were a win. read more

A great addition to Jax beach area. We wanted to try a new place at the beaches and this was an excellent choices. Service was great and we got our food fairly quick. We started with calamari and Brussel sprouts. Both were very tasty and although it was fried, both dishes were not greasy at all. For main dishes, we had ravioli that had artichokes and tomatoes which tasted really fresh and light. We also ordered crab fried rice which can was delicious and has big clumps of crab meat. The halibut special and chimichurri steak were delightful. The only thing we didn't like was parking, they were doing a construction on the dedicated parking space for this restaurant so we had to go around several times to find a spot. read more

A B C, It's easy as 1 2 3, as simple as Do re mi, A B C, 1 2 3 Baby you and me For whatever reason, whenever I think about or see the sign for AB Kitchen, I start humming the classic Jackson 5 song. And I can't figure out why. . . Anyway, my wife and I finally had a chance to try this new restaurant in Atlantic Beach recently. And as Michael would probably say, "It's simple. You need to get over here and try it for yourself!" Well, maybe he'd make it rhyme a little better. And moonwalk. So, the space was formerly M Shack. And I always thought that the former burger place was a little small. AB Kitchen isn't huge, but we didn't have any problem booking a table. I imagine as more and more people try it and like it making a reservation will become harder. It is a bit loud. Open concept with lots of exposed hard surfaces. Just something to know. There was a large party sitting in the big, what looked like, community table in the middle of the restaurant, and they were almost shouting to each other to be heard. We were sitting away from them and had an easier time. Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave us several suggestions on the menu to consider. I know that being put on the spot by a patron can be tough when asked what a good dish is, but don't you hate it when the response is "oh everything is awesome!" C'mon. Just gimme something here! Fortunately our waitress did make suggestions and we ordered some of them. Glad we did. We started with the yellowfin tuna tartare. Served with little wontons. Tasted fresh and the soy based sauce on the fish was outstanding. This appetizer truly shined. For main courses I ordered the crab fried rice bowl and my wife ordered the scallop coconut red curry bowl. The crab fried rice can include a fried egg. Our helpful waitress told us to add it - glad we did! The unctuous yolk worked well with the rice and crab. Scallops were done really well on the curry dish and the curry was not spicy at all. For me I would have liked just a touch of spice, but my wife thought it was perfect. Both dishes are very rich and we split them. I'm not sure I could have eaten either completely without switching up. The other bowls look amazing, as well as many of the other dishes on the menu and we had a tough time making our choices! I'm not gonna teach you reading, writing or arithmetic. And I'm definitely not going to try and moonwalk. But I will highly recommend AB Kitchen. And you can take that to school! read more

AB Kitchen is a new concept in Neptune Beach. The menu was a bit eclectic so I was definitely interested to see if they could deliver on so many different cuisines. For appetizers, we got the Hamachi Crudo, tuna, tartare, and ramen deviled eggs. They were all good but a little salty. I think it might've been because of the soy sauce, is that was the common denominator in all three. Someone was perhaps a little heavy handed with it. I really appreciated our server's honesty as she led us to excellent items on the menu. We ordered the short ribs, chimichurri, steak, and scallop coconut red curry as our entrees. These seemed like a home run all around. The short ribs had a little sweetness and they weren't too tough. There wasn't a lot of meat on the bones but, that's to be expected. I was excited to see they had Stubborn sodas, which are hard to find around here. The space is clean and casual. TVs are up and turned to sports channels. With New Year's fast approaching and the diet resolutions that come with it, I turned to my trusty Yelp app to see if I could find a good last meal for 2022. Under the hot and new restaurants I came across AB kitchen at the Beaches Towncenter. This spot occupies the spot formerly held by M Shack. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Both modern and beachy. The place was spotlessly clean. It had both a large communal type table in the middle and smaller tables on the side along with a small bar in the back. They don't appear to have a liquor license but do have beer, wine, and wine cocktails. I'm usually not a fan of wine cocktails but I tried their Tamirind Sour. While it didn't taste like whiskey it was tasty and refreshing. For an appetizer I had the Ramen Deviled Eggs. These were awesome! Sweet and savory with an Asian kick! For my entree I had the garlic grilled steak with homemade fries and ají verde sauce. The flavors of everything was really good. The only complaint is that the greens were wet enough to make tzatziki seem a little watery. The price point of everything seemed fair and a good high quality option that's a little more reasonable that some of the surrounding restaurants. The service was good. The owner (or manager?) was regularly making the rounds making sure everyone was happy without being too intrusive. The only downside is the parking situation. The Flowbird parking app gives you 30 min parking for free but i did have to pay for an extra half hour. A lot of the times trying new restaurants you wonder if they will be able to make it. From my experience it looks like AB Kitchen is here to stay. read more

AB Kitchen was such a good choice for dinner last night. We were meeting up with some friends we hadn't seen in a while so we wanted to go to a restaurant with a chill vibe and great food. We ordered the crab fried rice as an appetizer, I highly recommend doing this for a group of four or more it was perfect for sharing. The crab fried rice was not over powered by a crab flavor but you could taste crab. For my entree I ordered the rock shrimp bucatini it was good, lots of shrimp, fresh pasta and loaded with flavor but Mike ordered the scallop coconut red curry and he won the best dish. The drinks we ordered were fine but I would not come here for the drinks. I can't wait to go back and try more food from AB Kitchen! read more

The place was packed but there was not one thing they didn't nail. Not a very big spot so be sure to make reservations and it is a bit noisey, but very fun! 3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 We came in at prime time on a Friday evening as a party of 10 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had reservations and only had to wait about 10-15 min for the table. Unfortunately the bar (and restaurant itself) is pretty small, so we weren't able to grab a drink while we waited and just ended up standing outside. Not a problem at all, but just something to note if you are thinking about arriving early or waiting for your table. The pros: Service: Our server was amazing. She was on top of it, always made sure we were good on drinks, and handled separate checks like a pro. Drinks: We tried a variety of different cocktails and every one was delicious Appetizer: Tuna poke Entree: Burrata ravioli - our entire group was in agreement that this was probably the best entree that was ordered. Cons: We didn't really love most of the food. Honestly, I'm never really a huge fan of Asian fusion type food when not at an Asian restaurant, so I probably should have known better when ordering. I ordered the ramen deviled eggs and it was literally like biting into a salt block.. and I love salty food. I ordered the seared curry scallops as an entree and it was just ok. The scallops were good and cooked perfectly, but red curry was sweet.. really sweet. I tried the crab fried rice that a friend ordered and the whole table was pretty much in agreement that it was not good at all. There was some odd flavor that we just couldn't put our finger on. As a group of Asians, we just didn't love any of the Asian inspired dishes on the menu. Another con to note- it's really loud inside.. like, it's baffling how loud it is for such a small place. We were a group of 10 girls out on a Friday night celebrating a birthday, so you would think that the sound would be the last of things we would notice.. but that's just how loud it was. Seriously, don't plan on having any type of conversation with anyone unless you're almost screaming they are sitting directly next to you.. but I guess that could technically be a pro if you're forced into going to dinner with someone you don't like or want to talk to! I know this review sounds mostly negative for 3.5 (4) stars, but I would definitely consider giving it another shot. I think that ordering different things on the menu (that aren't Asian inspired) and going at a different time, or maybe sitting on the patio, would probably really improve my experience. read more

This little place is sooo good! I ordered the curry scallops and can't wait to go back! The taste is unlike anything I've had before! Superior taste! My friend got the crab fried rice and she said it was amazing as well! The deviled eggs were delicious as well! On my second trip we also ordered The ribs appetizer and it was delicious too! They fell off the bone! The calamari has a unique flavor I haven't had before the first bite was unusual but it quickly grew on us in a great way! AB Kitchen is my favorite restaurant at Beaches Town-center! I can't go there without getting the Beet and Burrata appetizer. It is soooo good. I also recommend the ABK salad, the glazed carrots, tuna tartare, the burrata ravioli, the salmon...literally anything on the menu I'd recommend! I also love the decor. The natural colors the palms on the walls...I only wish their bar had more than 4 seats. Can't recommend ABK enough. I do advise you get there earlier before it gets too busy bc it can become very loud. They could work on the acoustics a bit. read more

We had the crab fried rice and the meatballs - both excellent. They only serve beer and wine though. It was confusing to me when they explained that their "tequila" was wine based. Don't go there with the expectation that the drinks taste anything like the real thing. That was the only thing I was disappointed with, only because I like a cocktail before dinner. This is the second time I have been here, the first was when they first opened where I would have given a 4 or 5. The service was fine- it took about 10+ minutes for someone to come to our table, but they were busy and we were not in any hurry so it was not a big deal. The appetizers were okay, the burrata was tiny but the hummus was good. My girlfriend got the pappardelle, that was pretty good actually (I wish I had gotten this). My main issue was my dish- I got the chimichurri steak. This was absolutely horrible. I was about to send it back, but then I saw the people next to me got the same thing and it looked identical so I decided there was no point. The vegetables tasted like they came from a frozen steam bag, the plate was drowning in water from the vegetables. The steak was a really bad cut of steak. I ordered medium rare, 1/3 of it was medium rare, 1/3 was rare and the rest was well done. I have no idea how they managed to cook one steak 3 different temperatures, but it was overall extremely bad. I was super disappointed because the first time I went here, this dish was amazing. I was looking forward to getting it again, so it was unfortunate that it went downhill like this. My only issue with the ambiance is it is always incredibly loud in there just due to the fact they have a lot of tables in a very small area. read more

An adorable smiley hostess sat us in a comfy booth on this slow Monday. The menu here looks so inviting with so many things I'd like to try. My friend & I decided to share the deviled eggs. They were very different and delicious than any I've had before. These were an Asian style & were quite good. The restaurant was quite accommodating as I asked for half the order to omit the bacon since we were sharing & I don't eat bacon. For an entree My friend had the shrimp burger which she really enjoyed. It came with a choice of sides. She chose the slaw & said it was excellent. I had a salad with spinach, goat cheese, cranberries, apples and I added a protein of chicken for a $7 up charge. The dressing on the salad was really good. A little spicy type of vinaigrette. I looked at the dinner menu while I was there & I definitely will return to try it. This is a great little spot in a cute town where you can stroll the streets and walk to the beach. Had an awesome girls brunch here this past weekend and I can't wait to to back with my husband. My sister had the ABLT, and the bacon was perfect. I had the steak wrap. We both got french fries with ours and they were perfection. Another member of our party had the banana pancakes at the recommendation of our server, McCoy. He did a fantastic job. My husband looked at their website earlier in the day and eyed the pork chop so we headed their way for dinner on a mission. The space is intimate with all tables visible as you walk in and we were able to enjoy our meal before it got extremely crowded. We started with the Ramen Deviled Eggs. Wow, what great flavor in such petite bites! My husband went for the Soup of the Day which featured a Bean & Chorizo soup. The broth based soup wasn't overwhelming with beans, and the chorizo added great flavor. We split the AB Chopped Salad (minus the dried Cranberries). The half portion was perfect for each of us to enjoy without spoiling our meal. The freshness of the greens and lightness of the bacon vinaigrette made this a tasty round. My husband stayed true to his mission and went for the Duroc Pork Chop. The meat was cooked perfectly and the candied apple bacon chutney added a nice flavor boost. The chop was served with roasted poblano smoked Gouda grits that were hard to stop eating! I went with the Feta Chicken Meatballs - something different from what I'd usually order or make at home which is what intrigued me to try it and I'm glad I did. First off, the meatballs were delicious. They weren't dense or dry and the sear on one side added to the flavor. The roasted broccoli pesto orzo with pine nuts and fried sage was a great accompaniment and like the grits was hard not to keep eating.
