They were out of a couple things though but it wasn't a big deal since we didn't want what they were out of lol. The garlic cheese bread was good and so was the pizza! We tried their angry sauce which we didn't personally think was spicy it just kind of tasted like sweet salsa since it had jalapeños instead of spicy marinara which normally has crushed red pepper or other spices. Ambience was nice. Seating is outside on wooden benches. Not sure if we would come again though.

The crust is crisp, the sauce is really taste (I would almost think homemade not from a can) the toppings are really flavorful. I got a personal pizza with two toppings and a drink almost the size of a 1 liter coke for only $5.99. Tejano Pizzeria is a gym on the southside. I'm hoping they start making up some pasta.

This is our second trip here! Just as good as it was the first time!…read more This trip we got a pizza cheese with Canadian bacon and lobster ravioli. Mouth watering and super fresh and hot! We also got an order of mozzarella sticks! So good! The marinara sauce was just a bit tangy and it was warm andixed with the gooey cheese... perfection!! The pizza was huge to me as a 12"! The pieces are huge. The first bite just melted in your mouth! The crunch of the crust was perfect and the crust was thin and just tasted very good! The service was fabulous! We were checked on by the owner. He would help his staff as well, not like some places you go. This place is cute and a great family place or a date night sitting cuddled together in a booth. We will be back again

Everything had that homemade, South Texas comfort-food feel that's hard to beat. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It's always great finding a local spot that delivers both good food and good hospitality. If you're in Poteet or anywhere around the Atascosa County area, I definitely recommend stopping by Backyard Kitchen. I'll be coming back for sure!

The place definitely lived up to the buildup! The place itself is an outdoor type of place but with seating under a pavilion. There is a playground for kids; several TVs for sports or other events; and a small stage for a band. We decided to try the buffalo fries to start with. They were probably the best buffalo fries that we've had and that's saying a lot! The fries were perfectly cooked. The small cubes of chicken were tender and the buffalo sauce was the perfect flavor and the quantity of sauce was perfect - not too much or too little. We tried the Ringer which is a burger with BBQ, ranch sauce, pickles, bacon, cheese and onion rings. The burger was very moist and flavorful. The combination was really good. Just a really great burger - in my all-time top 5 burgers. We also tried the Jalapeño Melt which was a burger on Texas toast with bacon, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and BYK sauce. It was a very tasty patty melt - moist and flavorful. I will b looking for excuses to head to Floresville so I can take a few minutes and go to Poteet so I can eat here again. Great food; super service; and the prices were very reasonable. Well done!

Somewhere between San Antonio and regret, nestled in a gas station that smells like windshield…read morefluid and Lotto dreams, lies Charley's Cheesesteaks. A culinary oasis for those brave souls who believe hot meat and melted cheese should always be within arm's reach--even if the nearest chair is bolted to the floor and covered in someone else's spilled Fanta. Charley's isn't here to impress you. Charley's is here because the laws of capitalism demanded that mall food have a second life. And what a life it is--reincarnated in this fuel-scented temple of compromise, where a man can contemplate his choices between pumps four and five. The experience? You order. You wait. You wonder why the speaker is yelling your number like it's a draft lottery. And then it arrives: a sandwich hot enough to burn your tongue, but not your soul. The bread is soft, the steak is chopped like it owes someone money, and the cheese is doing its best under the circumstances. There's a sense of dignity in that. Like a prom tuxedo from JCPenney--technically formal, spiritually fast food. And yet... you eat. Because it's 6:37 p.m., you're tired, you're mildly road-delirious, and this is your story now. This is road-trip cuisine in its purest form: not good, not bad--just there for you, like a friend who doesn't ask questions when you show up sad and greasy. Would I recommend it? Only to people I respect slightly less than I claim to. Would I return? Yes. Of course. I always do. Three stars. One for the meat, one for the nostalgia, and one for the fact that the bathroom wasn't locked.

This 5 star review is based on food and service…read more Ruben's Cafe is a simple mom and pop restaurant on the south side but the food and service is top notch. I came here to kill time while my car was having work done across the street. With about 10 tables in the place, they definitely are attentive. My order was promptly taken and coffee came quick. Even the mom and sister came by after order was taken to make sure I was OK; mom even came out from kitchen to confirm my order. Once the food arrived it was hot and fresh. I recommend you get a breakfast plate with hash browns as they were excellent. I had the #14 which included eggs, beans, sausage, hash browns and tortillas; all this and coffee was under $10! While I don't live nearby, I will definitely return to Ruben's Cafe when in the area.
