This is my honest experience as a customer of AAMCO Fontana. I brought my car in for a transmission issue. Soon after, my father was hospitalized in critical condition. I contacted the shop and told them I could not proceed with any work, and I asked them to have the vehicle returned to my home. Despite this, my car was not returned. Work was done without my clear consent, and the vehicle was ultimately no longer in my possession. During this time, I was dealing with an incredibly personal and difficult family emergency, and I feel that the shop took advantage of that. When I started sharing my experience online, I was contacted by the business. They offered to "work something out" -- but only if I took down my reviews. That felt like an attempt to silence my honest feedback rather than take accountability. If you read through their reviews, you'll notice a concerning pattern: a wave of 5-star ratings mixed with several detailed 1-star reviews from customers with similar issues. While I can't speak to others' motives, I can say that my experience was deeply upsetting and felt extremely unfair. I've reached out to consumer advocacy groups and media outlets because I believe what happened to me is worth investigating. Ive had work done by this AAMCO a couple times now. First time , about 6 yrs ago I was driving down the 10 frwy and suddenly lost power! I was sure it was the transmission but after having it towed up to AAMCO and had it diagnosed it turned out to be a problem with the catalytic converter. That was good news see's how I was looking at a possible 2500$ transmission rebuild..The catalytic converter was roughly 480$ with parts and labor. Got me back on the road the same day- Great experience with the people up at AAMCO The second time was just about a week ago, I knew for sure it was the transmission this time, My dodge ram has 180,000 miles on it and I could feel slipping in the lower gears, finally the check engine light came on, and I knew it was time. So I took it up to Billy, explained what was happening. He told me don't worry it might just be a sensor or solenoid, maybe nothing major. They would diagnose and call me in three hours. Got a call back in about two hours, Bad news was it was the transmission- was going to need a full rebuild! Good news, they could get started right away.. Billy was great and very helpful, gave me the option to find a salvage transmission or they could do the rebuild for 2500$.. Told him to go ahead and do it, (that was Tuesday ). Told me it should be finished by Friday.. I was surprised when he called early Thursday and told me I could come pick it up! My over all experience with this AAMCO has been Awesome and I'm already planning on taking my truck back up when I can afford it, to have my front suspension and steering rack worked on!! So I normally do not get all involved in the "writing reviews" thing, but the way Philip and David showed out at AAMCO on: customer service, dedication, and timing to name a few. I had to!! I've been to 3 different reputable mechanics and they all had me feeling really unsure about doing the work on my car, and the pricing for the job was more than I as a single mother could afford. So I took a chance to call ONE more place that was recommended by a family member to get another opinion/quote. Now with all the stress and "beating around the bush" with the others I had my "You're not gonna take advantage of me" attitude, when calling Aamco. Philip was the one who got my call and was understanding but still telling me what I didn't want to hear. I felt he needed to talk with me IN PERSON. I marched down to Aamco in Fontana ready to plead my case, and get the answers I felt I needed. (Minimum to no work being done) Well I got to blow steam at David, and he was ready. He handled my attitude and situation with so much care, concern and professionalism. I decided to have them do the job!!! and Philip worked out a price that was very much in my range!!! I would recommend Billy's shop to anyone, friends, family, or the guy stuck on the side of the road. Billy made this experience a breeze. I had my car towed to Billy's shop and the moment it got there I knew it was in great hands. Due to my work schedule I wasn't able to make in to the shop during working hours but not a problem. Billy and I discussed everything over the phone. Every step of the way I got a phone call to let me know the good and/or the bad. I always got the call before any work was done if we hadn't agreed to it first. Billy even went to work early just to meet up with me so that we could discuss some payment options so I wasn't late to work. I mean where else can you go and they do that for you?? The work completed on my car has it running like new again. Seems when the time comes around for any more work to be done on any of my vehicles this is where i will be stopping first. Wish I could give it no stars!! PHILLIP is a racist!! We dropped our car off for a burning oil smell and when we got it back it wouldn't even drive off the lot. They kept it a few hours more then told us it was ready for pick up Again. The car broke down less than 300 feet from the shop. And when we told Phillip it was bullshit & they messed up our car. He charged at us with a police ba then said "I'm calling the cops, we will see if your black lives matter around here". Phillip is a RACIST asshole who doesn't deserve to work with the public. Phillip then proceeded to impersonate a cop calling my family multiple times after the incident, saying if we didn't remove our Facebook posts we would be arrested. Please DO NOT GO HERE. I have NEVER had my car serviced by any other company but the Toyota dealer. I was a little hesitant to go to an outside source for something as major as replacing my transmission. However, after my experience with the AAMCO Transmission Repair in Fontana CA, I will take some of my future business to their qualified mechanics. They towed my car, helped me set up getting my parts delivered and waived my diagnostic fee because I had just paid for one at the dealer. My car was serviced right away. I received excellent, pleasant service from Billy and each representative was pleasantly respectful. Their price beat Toyota's hands down. I was told they even had available financing. "Special Discount for Female Customers" I was referred to this Aamco Transmission shop in Fontana by one of my friends. I am very happy with the services they provided, and their charges are very reasonable too. Their manager Philip is very honest, courteous, and understanding person. Unlike most mechanics who see a female customer and assume that they have a birth right to rip them off. Here at Aamco Fontana they treat every female customer with respect, and with honesty. They even have a special discount for female customers (please mention 786-MISA to get your special discount) which you will never see elsewhere. The service is excellent, the work is A1, The Service Manager Billy Camp is very friendly, He make you feel at ease. He is honest and when checking out your car for the repairs that you request he make sure to let you know if any thing else is wrong. He have your best interest at heart. The price was reasonable. He stand by his original quote and he even fixed my tail light that was hanging underneath my car at no charge. I recommend this AAMCO as NO. 1. It will be the mechanic for my cars in the future. Phillip is a horrible manager he threatened my family and my 1year old baby with a police baton. I went in to get my BMW checked out.when he called me to pick up my car it wouldn't start up. He was then blaming the NEW guy he hired. So they kept my car to still work on it. When he calls me again to pick my my car a 2nd time it's having the same problems. I drove my car not even a block away when it gives out and won't turn on anymore. My aunt who was in the car with me to test it out walks back to the shop and tells Phillip "it's fucked up you fucked up my nephews car" he starts yelling saying he's gonna call the police and see if your black lives matter he was completely out of line. What I see on this site are a bunch of whinners who make allegations about their vehicles not being fixed right, and they have no proof of taking their vehicles some place else to say that Aamco did them wrong. Shame on you whinners!!! Obviously the one Girl couldn't even afford Gas for her Car let alone a repair. I have been to this place and got nothing but a quality job. I am more than pleased with the work,service, and consideration provided by AAMCO on Arrow Blvd. in Fontana. Thanks their expertise and diligent work my car has escaped being sent to the scrapyard. Even though the problem required a lot more work than was first anticipated; the manager "Billy" stood by his original quote and fair pricing. I admire this kind of integrity. I enjoy saving money too. I have used this shop several times over the years. I have never been disappointed with the quality of workmanship. I have never had to come back or complain. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My personal mechanic told me I needed to get a diagnostic because there was more he needed to fix on my car but his machine wasn't able to catch it. So I took it here. Upon picking up my car it was running worse than before. After taking it back to my mechanic he found that they had unplugged my coil pack which forced my check engine light to turn on. There is no way that this piece could have magically come undone. I would not recommend you taking your car here, it's hard enough to trust mechanics but now that I know this place is trying to scam customers I won't be back. read more

I took my Chevrolet Traverse in for an 80,000 mile service, oil change, transmission service, brakes checked, etc. I met with the new owner, Randall, who was very hands-on in consulting with me and his mechanics. They performed the work exceptionally and in good time. Randall made it clear to me that if there was an ounce of problem with the car to bring it back or call him personally and he will ensure it is taken care of. We has a great experience at this AAMCO. My daughter took her car in and they were very honest with us that it was not worth the money to fix it and they didn't charge her anything for looking at it. She also took in a car that she was thinking about buying and they were honest with her about what was wrong with it. I also took my car in for brakes and the transmission. They were honest with me, fixed all my issues and gave me a great price. Very friendly and explained everything to me. It was a great experience.
