I can't say enough about the treatment I got here with Phillip. The Rotolo Chevrolet dealership in Fontana was trying to charge me $7,000 to repair my transmission after having it for 4 complete days. I called Phillip in total panic, he calmed me down ensured me he would take care of me and sent a tow truck to pick up my car and take it to his shop. Within 4 hours he had diagnosed my problem and I got my truck back 4 days later, which is as long as it took Rotolo to tell me anything. If you don't bring your car to this aamco you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice. I will never go anywhere else, a trusting mechanic is extremely hard to come by these days but you never need to worry when coming here. Phillip the store manager has no respect for people of colored. My friend took his BMW to his shop because the check engine light came on. They called him saying the car was ready for pick up. Not even a block away the car completely stalls and starts smoking. We walk up to the shop and complain and immediately Phillip comes out with a police stick and starts yelling "let's see if your black lives matters here" then starts yelling racial slurs towards my friend all while his two Little girls were sitting in terror in the back seat. These people suck and pretend to know what they are doing along with a new owner that does know the difference from the engine to the transmission. My Trans PCU (Power-train Control Module) wasn't talking to the Transmission Solenoid Pack meaning the Transmission would not shift. After two hours and $220 bucks I left empty handed with no solution - They couldn't fix the issue. "Even worse they failed to put the parts back and left a roll of electrical tape near where the hood closes cause it to buckle. Don't spend your time or money there. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write this review but I'm super busy with my 3 month old. Thanks to Billy at AAMCO we have a running car to get around in. My car went from working great to completely frozen overnight and as a new mom I was stressed and frustrated!!! I called AAMCO and spoke with Billy and he made it effortless for me to get my car in and repaired. He called me with the status of my car as is was being repaired. When he quoted the initial price he made me aware that there may be additional charges once the car was taken apart and before he did any additional work he called and spoke it over with me. From start to finish my car was ready in 2 days and only $30 over the initial quote (which I agreed to before he added the charge). My car is older '96 and I pray that I don't have to get any more major work done in the near future but I won't hesitate to take it back to AAMCO. Thank you Billy. read more

Called ahead to ask about getting my car looked at. They were super polite and told me to bring it in and they'd check the codes for me. When I got there the man at the counter was super friendly making a few jokes. Asked what was going on and gave me an estimated time for the results. I am very disappointed in my experience with Amco. I took my car in for a simple solenoid change and they added on work that didn't need to be done and charged me an extra $139 for doing it. Phillip said they did a transmission flush which I didn't need or ask for. I wish I could trust in the people that I take my car to be fair and honest! That's not the case with this shop. I would rank them a zero if I could. My truck had a shutter in the steering wheel. Came in for service and I got my rear differential replaced. I told them I was moving across country and wanted to make sure my vehicle was good to go. I made it 1300 of the 1500 miles before I broke down in the middle of nowhere. Long story short I had to replace the transmission at 115k in a Tacoma. The mechanic said whoever put on the rear differential only hand tighten it and it basically tore it up and wrecked the transmission in the process. Transmission fluid was still clean. AAMCO refuses responsibility. Wouldn't admit fault or help with replacement. Don't use this garbage company. read more

We brought our car here and spent $200 for a transmission service. We dropped off the car at 7am and didn't hear back from them until around 2 when they said that they were waiting for some transmission fluid to be delivered to them for our Jeep Patriot. We found this a bit weird considering that we had scheduled an appointment in advance and gave them the make and model of our car in order for them to have the supplies necessary. We figured it was an honest mistake so we didn't make a big deal out of it. From then on we didn't hear anything from them at all so we started driving to their shop around 4:45 because we knew they were closing at 5pm. Half way there, (around 4:55) they called us to tell us that the fluid had still not arrived and that they would need to keep our car overnight. Because of that, my fiance needed to reschedule his morning clients last minute. (They weren't too happy about that). The next day they did the work but when we went to pick up the car, they told my fiance that there was a part in the car that was broken, the transmission filler tube. (Supposedly we brought it in that way). This made the car spill expensive transmission oil all over for the next couple of days. Every time we got into the car, it wreaked of oil. This overbearing smell was NOT something that we would miss before bringing in the car to AAMCO to get worked on. My fiance took it to the Jeep dealer to buy the new part and we had the dealer take a look at his car while we were there. They told us that there was absolutely no way that the transmission filler tube could have been broken on its own through wear and tear and that AAMCO was responsible for the damage. We ended up buying the parts, engine cleaner, transmission oil, and some air fresheners (which cost us close to $100) and taking it home to work on it. Before we started taking everything apart, we decided to give AAMCO a call and see if they would help us put the part in and if they would cover the cost of the damage they did. Doc refused to take responsibility for the damage done to our car and refused to cover any of the cost of the materials. It took us over 4 hours to get to the part and replace it (which goes to show that this part was not easily accessible and could not have been broken by us just driving the car). We have since called their corporate office and filed a claim against AAMCO. Had AAMCO taken responsibility for the damage to our car and corrected their mistake, this post would not be necessary. However, the fact is that they damaged our car, took no responsibility for it, and were less than helpful (if not demeaning) when we asked them for assistance in fixing their mistake. WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS: DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO THIS AAMCO!!!!!!! They do not care about their customers, they just want your money. No wonder why they only have 3 stars. read more

They might do good work, but there's no way I would ever know. I was over 10 miles away working during my day and called and asked if they would do an oil change they told me yes .I drove all the way in and then once I got there they told me it would be more than an hour wait just to get the car on a rack, then it would be another 30 to 45 minutes for the oil change. I have all kinds of work to do during the day and it would've been nice for them to tell me that over the phone instead of me driving 10 miles plus to come get an oil change done and then only tell me once I show up but now I have to find a new place to get it done and waste even more time in my day. read more

Phillip is the most Rude and unprofessional person i have ever worked with. I went in to get an engine swapped under my third party warranty. They swapped the engine out but in doing so THEY REVERSES THE INPUT AND OUTPUT SPEED SENSORS. They tried to get me to rebuild my transmission for 3000 dollars. I had my car towed to a different shop where they found the issue of the speed sensors and told me my transmission never needed any work at all! This was found only after the new mechanic tried to tune everything up to see if any sensors ect were the issue. Unfortunately that cost me 1700$ that i never needed to spend. When i called the shop to talk to them about it, Phillip was very rude. Putting all the blame on me and saying my warranty company was coming after for for fraud (which was a lie) he refused to talk to and Called me a LITTLE GIRL and hung up. Obviously they knew they messed up and did not want to admit it. DO NOT GET WORK DONE HERE. THEY WILL TRY AND DRAIN YOU OF ALL YOUR MONEY AND TREAT YOU LIKE SH*T! read more

Billy and the guys took care of me. I live in Fullerton and was on my way to work at 530am on a Wednesday when my transmission imploded. I had to wait 'til any shop in the area opened at 8, but i had it towed to Aamco when they opened. I was told 3-4 hour wait time for a diagnosis, which was spot on. Unfortunately with me being so far from home, i had to hang out and wait there all day, which is kind of a pain since there is no chairs or anything in the office. Right at the 4 hour mark i was informed that, indeed, my transmission was absolute toast. I called several places closer to my neighborhood, and they all gave similar quotes for the transmission rebuild, but they gave 5-7 day turnarounds. Because this is my work truck, i needed it ASAP. Billy gave me a 2 day turnaround estimate, which put me picking the truck up Friday. When i decided to have the shop do the rebuild on my transmission, billy offered me a rental car to make my life a lot easier, to which I obliged. He worked some magic and got me a good deal on a car that would handle my tools and work stuff for a couple days. I wound up having to pick it up on saturday, not friday, but this was still less time than my "home" shops. I also had them do an oil change and rotate the tires, as they were due at the same time. For both those and a full Transmission rebuild on an F250 v10, it came out to $3000. (i had to pick up the oil from the O'Reillys up the street, which i kind of liked so i knew what oil was going in and the filter). The 40 mile drive back to the OC was nice and easy and the transmission felt great. My truck was already filthy since i pretty much live out of it, but the seats were clean and the guys took care of it. I would recommend this shop to anyone who needs engine/transmission work done, but don't expect to be in and out quickly. They do quality work, which takes time. Its a smaller shop and they seem to stay pretty busy. All-in-all, good shop, good guys. Really helped me out in a pinch **Now, this is the only reason i am giving 4 stars and not 5: i did not receive a call letting me know that the truck was not going to be ready on friday and it would be saturday instead. I understand, as i work in the service industry as well, and a simple phone call would have gone a long way (for this to be the only knock is not bad for most shops as you may know). read more

Very pleased with my experience working with Phillip at the Fontana AAMCO. Made an appointment for a transmission service on a 2005 Chevy Silverado Hybrid to follow up on a local dealer quote for transmission repair. The service process was explained thoroughly before beginning work. I felt educated enough to make informed decisions about proceeding with this vehicle. Technician pulled the codes. Philip printed out the codes and the process /order by which they are cleared. One extra code came up along with the two the dealer told me about. Could have potentially thrown away $2100 on the repairs at the dealer and still had a problem with the third code which related to the hybrid recharging system in the transmission. The short of it is that the technician, Eddie, said the transmission service at this time is not recommended. All this help and zero bill at the end of it all. Taking my work van into today for a transmission service. Its nice to have a crew looking out for your best interest and not their bottom line. read more

We have a 2011 Nissan Altima, our transmission was acting up, the dealer quoted $2500 for the transmission (part only) not including labor, oils/fluids, etc (estimated $4500 total). Our friends told us to try Aamco. We came to Aamco pretty distraught and worried, questioning if we'd even be able to fix our car, and Philip was great from the beginning. He informed us they'd check it out for free, no worries. They checked it right away and informed us of the codes/misfires and explained what they meant and what our options were. We were able to get a transmission with labor/oils/fluids for almost $1000 cheaper than the dealer, with warranty and with finance options available to us. When I call there, I talked to David and he was really nice and wanted to help me. I was having problems with my transmission and I told him what I thought it could be and he said he would look at it but he said it sounds like what I thought it was. sure enough it was the problem. After he looked at it I called the next day and talked to Phillip and he was nice as while and he help me with the cost and he was being very honest and nice. I work as a warranty admin. For a dealership so I do know customer service and vehicle repair and they took care of me like I do for my customers. I would have anyone go here that needs transmission repair.
