Trans Medic rebuilt my transmission on my diesel truck 3 years ago upgraded it to a stage two. So I couldn't recommend this shop more. Amazing experience!

UPDATE: Ownership…read morechanged and the new Owner, Nash, upon hearing of this review, wasted no time reaching out. This new Owner didn't have ANY obligation to myself, whatsoever. But Nash wanted to still make this right. Upon talking to Nash the next day, he wanted to send an employee an hour to my house to pick up the Van and take it back to his shop. After receiving the Van and looking it over, it was determined the transmission needed removed and rebuilt. Nash rebuilt the transmission and had his employee deliver it back to my house, without asking a single cent. I am blown away by this generous new Owner, who didn't even own the shop when it was rebuilt before. I haven't really driven the Van since receiving it back yesterday. But on a short test drive, it ran without issue. Thank you Nash! Original review: I had my 2001 Honda Odyssey transaxle rebuilt by Trans Medic about three years ago for $2,400. Unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating from the start. This van was a highway commuter. So it wasn't a lot of hard shifting or stop and go. Ilive an hour away, so every trip to their shop means a two-hour round trip and arranging for someone to follow me. After the rebuild, I had to make not just one, but two extra trips because the shift solenoid wasn't functioning. From day one, the van still had a hard shift into first gear, but I lived with it. Now, only 30k miles later, the transmission is again having trouble engaging in D3 and D4. The D4 and check engine lights started flashing, and a P1753 code pointed to a TCC issue. I replaced both the TCC and shift solenoids myself to save on labor costs--both looked very old and oxidized, which makes me wonder if the originals were ever replaced during the rebuild. I bench tested the solenoids I removed, and they were both operational and within spec, meaning the issue clearly runs deeper. Despite my repairs, the same shifting problems returned almost immediately. Now I'm getting a P0740 code, and the lights are back on. Yes, Honda Odyssey transmissions, within a few years of my 2001, are known for problems, but this should not be happening again at just 30k miles. The shop's 12-month/12k-mile warranty is useless in situations like this, and when I called today, I was told to bring it back--something I'm unwilling to do unless they commit to a no-cost rebuild. And would be again, two people in two different rigs, making two different two hour round trips. I'm glad others may have had better experiences, but for me, the quality and follow-up were deeply disappointing. I came here based on reputation and all the solid reviews. I harbor no ill-will or anger, just total disappointment. Now I'm getting rid of the van As-is and stressed out. After also replacing front tires, brake pads and oil change, the same day I did the solenoid swap. That was $400 tossed away. And to those reading, NEVER buy a 2001 Honda Odyssey.

On my transmission pan. Initially I asked for a flush, but when I mentioned I have 210k miles Steve started acting like I should throw it away, and the work wouldn't be worth it. I couldn't even convince him to drain and fill my fluid. I was recommended to this business by their neighbor John, and Steve put a clutch in for me on another vehicle. That car was a 2007 jeep compass manual that nobody else would touch. Clutch failed less than a year later and I placed no blame on the business who installed the part. These things happen. Will not be returning to him in the future.

I had "lost" reverse and first on my 2010 Nissan Sentra 6-speed. I was able to roll into first, but reverse had no grab whatsoever. Steve was considerate regarding my time constraints, and fortunately, discovered the linkage had been crammed with a prickly cone (neighborhood squirrels or chipmunks the culprit). I was within 1.5 mile radius, so was provided a ride home and back. I got the car back later that afternoon. And the cost did not break the bank. Very good customer service, resulting in one very happy camper!

I tried to use my warranty 11 days after the installation of my transmission because I could tell…read moreimmediately that the repair had not quite taken, the trans was still jumpy and leaking. He told me that was normal after a new repair and that he would not let me use the warranty -- 14,000 miles later, the transmission is totally burned out and two mechanics as well as an insurance adjuster have stated that it is due to a faulty transmission installation (missing, faulty, and improperly installed parts) I'm now out of warranty with him and he will do nothing -- He even dared me to call a Lawyer -- hmmm... I will. One thing is for sure, myself and anyone I know will never do business there again.

When the transmission went out in my late model suv my first thought was that it was going to be…read moreexpensive. I called several transmission shops and I was quoted anywhere from 2800 to 4800 to rebuild the transmission. I was able to find a used transmission from a local wrecking yard with warranty for a much lower price. When I called around I was able to find a shop to put the transmission in for 1200. Everything was all of a sudden looking a lot more reasonable so I called AAA and asked them to deliver the car to my local shop. When the tow truck arrived to load the car he asked me where I was taking the car and then asked how much I was going to be charged. He explained to me that he knew of a shop that would be able to do the work at a much cheaper price, he called the shop for me and got a much better quote, after talked to the shop myself I decided to give vvanvo a shot. After this I was feeling nervous, I had called around and made what I felt was the best educated decision that I could and then at the last second I decided to take a gamble on this tow truck drivers "guy". When I brought the used transmission to the shop I didn't know what to expect, the owner was on site and seemed like a very nice guy, he was very personable and put my mind at ease right away. After talking with him for a few minutes I was a lot more confident that I had made the right decision in bringing my car here. After dropping off the transmission I thought that I would be given the typical mechanic experience, you know... He tells you it will be a week and it turns into three weeks type of thing. Now I dropped off the transmission right before the shop closed..... He calls me at 130 the next day to let me know that it was done. When I showed up to pick up the car the owner was again very nice and assured me that the transmission was good, thoroughly explained everything that he had done to the car and what to expect in the future. He made no attempt at any kind of an up sell and he gave me good advice on how to make my transmission last for a long time. Honestly this experience makes me wish that I had another car with a bad transmission, it is refreshing to deal with a shop that genuinely does care about customer experience and a shop owner that is very happy to deliver for his customers.
