My unit was the worst. I moved in at 9pm so there was nothing I could do about it on move in…read moreday. The light didn't even work. I had hired help so I had to move in. The walls were damaged with all types of holes the overhead is completely gross to look up at all type of webs and nests. Coming in to visit my unit there's always mouse droppings on top of my boxes. Plenty of it too. Finally got everything lined up to move out to somewhere climate controlled. Told the office manager about it she wasn't concerned I'm sure because she already knew they had this issue. I wish I could upload an audio file about the office manager she's something else. Don't do it, they're expensive for nothing at all there are a couple climate controlled on the same main street.

But if you are in the inside you are at a grand loss. I rented 11/9/24 had to go back home to Dallas, was only gone to weeks, upon my return lost all my clothes was in unit H56 I thought it was a racoon. But dead rats in my clothes which where in bags on hangers, they where dead the smell so bad, maggots everywhere Gladys the manager was cleaning it up and could barely stand it. I got the city involved and it has been ongoing. They get good reviews to mask and bury the bad and truthful ones. They sweep up the rat poop so tenants and rental prospects will not know. I found out this has been an ongoing problem since 2019. The insurance will mot cover it. The city of norfolk is still doing their due diligence to make them rectify this infestation and it is. Renting from this place is loosing everything you own even if it's for two week. Gladys is untrustworthy. A smile of deceit. And corporate hides behind unsupported regulations on storages ivhad conversation s with them and they actually brag about it. Hardworking people loosing their valuables. Disgusting and despicable what these people are doing. I have pics from me and the city of norfolk.

Most of the 'movers' that arrived at our home over a period of time were friends and family 'helping out' - for the price of $8500! We paid for packing AND moving - nothing was wrapped and most glass broken for us to clean up. Not a single box we packed in advance and labeled was placed even on the correct floor! Lots of moving heavy things for us after the fact. No private moving vehicles, no trained employees (as advertised). Items were stolen, every piece of furniture broken or damaged. We are still unpacking the disaster they left for us but here are the highlights: - Underestimated moving needs and extorted us for a second moving truck - Tried to scam us asking for payments multiple ways claiming the banks were freezing their account - Used filthy Uhauls (ruined lots of our belongings) - Stolen electronics (ROKU etc) - Refusal to discuss issues after 24hrs! Who can unpack that fast? This should've told us the type of move we were getting but we had hoped for common sense instead of horrible customer service.

Worst experience I have ever had moving! Would give less than one star if I could. The issues we…read morehad are supposedly being investigated by the business but we've yet to hear anything back. A detailed version of my experience below. Started off on the wrong foot since they were over an hour late. They showed up in a uhaul. Said that all their trucks were in the shop. It was a three man crew. All of them were very nice. However, that is probably the only thing I have positive to say at this point. During the move, they managed to lose/misplace/steal ( who knows?!) 1 small bookcase, two shelves to a bookcase and a box that contained jewelry and other items. Also have a desk that will not make another move and a sofa table that is now wobbly. Granted, the jewelry is of no monetary value but has great sentimental value. There was damage to a $300 tv stand. Damage to the walls. At one point I had to ask them to be more careful and even showed them the damage they were inflecting on my belongings. Once the truck was full and they got to point b, I showed them were everything needed to be moved to. They all smelled of marijuana. Which isn't a big deal, but now their once relatively quick pace became a snails pace. I had to ask them to leave my stuff on the street to go make a second trip bc they were taking forever! We were told they would be able to disassemble furniture if needed. They couldn't get one of the beds apart but my 120lbs sister was able to do it, no problem. They took apart my bed but it's been at least a month and I still don't have the screws to my bed that they took out. They had no pads or any equipment with them. They had to use my tools to take apart the furniture. They didn't even have water!! It was in June and they were asking me for water bc they had nothing to drink!! We've been emailing the owner/manager about being reimbursed for the damage and missing items and have been told they have to "investigate" and it could take up to 60 days. Smh ridiculous. So disappointed in the customer service. If they address the issues accordingly I'll update my review otherwise, do not hire these ppl! Yes mam, you definitely moved us. You've been contacted by my mother, Debbie N. I can post the emails if you like. The pictures were sent to you as well. I would hope that might jog your memory.

They took care in packing every item so everything arrived safely at the new location. My parents asked ahead if they would do a few odd moving-related tasks and they agreed to everything. This relieved so much anxiety as this was a bittersweet move out of their home of forty years. The moving crew was hard working and efficient despite the extreme heat. I additionally appreciated their kind demeanor and positive attitude about every aspect of the moving process. On the unload end, they were meticulous at placing items. They kindly adjusted the placement of a few things without hesitation despite the requests being 'above and beyond' their duties. Just a couple of specific examples.... We had a washer that unknowingly needed a pipe adjustment before it could go into place. One of the men took time to explain what needed to be done to fix the situation to my parents. He then took time to give them helpful tips on the remedy and answer all of their questions. Instead of being worried, my parents had a plan and knew it was an easily fixable issue. My dad had an ultra heavy desk with hutch. Movers asked where to place it and did so. Later, they were asked to move it and the dresser next to it...again. They did so and never complained. These requests were above and beyond and they complied without hesitation. Above and beyond! Before leaving they checked to see that everything was done to our satisfaction. I highly recommend Start Packing to anyone and would hire them again! It's rare to find a reliable company who actually works hard and cares about their customers. (super fair pricing as well!)
